Domain Authority: Sites with lower numbers get higher ranking.
-
We had a question about your online tools for http://pro.seomoz.org/campaigns/30642
The Domain Authority for http://pucherinsurance.com/ is 67: Higher than most of our competitors such as bluecross.ca which has a rank of 54. We show up lower in the actual search results.
An example phrase would be Visitors to Canada health Insurance.
We get an A grade for onsite reports and we are working on the duplicate content and titles.
We appear to be doing everything right but still rank lower than expected. Any thoughts?

Thanks for the tip!

My first guess is that it may be the actual quality of your links vs. your competitors. You may just need to beat them by either acquiring more links, or higher quality links. Domain and Page authority from seomoz are not correlated 1 to 1 with google serps (and this is a perfect example). It looks like you are going in the right direction, but you need to keep pushing.

Why is my page ranking lower when my moz stats are higher?
There are several keywords that I search for and I notice we rank lower than a couple of competitors. When I use the mozbar and view the stats, I see that are PA and DA are higher and in some instances the ones who rank higher don't even show all the keywords in their meta descriptions. If this is the case, how are they still ranking higher?

SEO impact of redirecting high ranking mirror site to the main website
During SEO audit for a client I noticed that they had over a dozen duplicate websites that are carbon copies of the main website. This was done via CMS platform and DNS. One of the mirror sites has about 400 indexed pages and has Moz DA of 42 and 137k External Equity-Passing Links. Full metrics comparison is attached. I originally planned on doing rel="canonical" on the mirror site but the CMS vendor never even heard of it and is refusing to implement it in the header. My only other option is doing one to one 301 redirects. Since the mirror site ranks well, even competes with main domain for some positions on the 1st page of SERP, what will be the impact after the redirects? Is doing 301's still the best option? Thanks! Drop in domain authority for myself and all my competitors, was something changed?
On the 1/11 report all four websites dropped, and starting on 2/12 they all dropped a few more times. These are all large companies who are completely white hat. Was something changed? The reason I asked is all of our linking C-Blocks dropped as well. Mine dropped from 114 to 42 and I have no idea why. All of my competitors dropped as well, is this related?

Is Rank Tracker still down?
I have been trying to use Rank Tracker but it still appears to be down. The following message is displayed which dates from 5th September and suggests it would take around a week to get it working. "Due to a server failure, we are experiencing a delay in Rank Tracker results this week. Unfortunately, it may take up to a week to get it working properly again. Thanks for your patience and understanding; our engineers are working around the clock to get this issue fixed. - Updated September 5th." It is now 17th September and I am still unable to use it. Just wondering whether this is the same situation for all or whether SEOMoz have an update on when we can expect this to be up and running. Thanks.

Increasing Domain Authority scores
Ok, a bit of a 'how long is a piece of string' type question this... Looking for the opinions of wiser users than myself in trying to work out how long is a realistic target for getting my domain authority somewhere near that of my competitors. I have been tracking my domain and three competitors in the campaign tool for a few months and they seem to average about 0.5 increase a month in their DA - they are averaging around 65 DA each. My site is currently DA 32, has increased from 21 in 5 months. Is this a decent rate of increase? How long would people expect it to take to increase a domain by 10, 20 etc? I know there are too many variables in the world of seo for a complete 'do this and this will happen' answer, but it's good to have a DA goal to work to, it acts as a good motivator for staff, especially when you begin to close in on competitors. Thanks, Carl

Open Site Explorer Question!
Hi, I have performed a search on a root domain and the page auth is higher then the domain auth? I would have thought they would have been the same or at least the other way around!
