Could H1 be really important in our niche
-
Hello,
I've been analyzing our top competitors since we dropped in rank recently, and all the people who did not drop in rank as well (looks like an algorithm change) and are ranking well have an H1 with their keywords in it.
keyword "NLP"
our site: nlpca(dot)com
Could the H1 be really important in our case?

I don't think our anchor text is over-optimized, but I will check.

I can't find the other thread where you asked this question before, but found this one when wanting to share this.
Any chance you could be victim of this? http://www.seomoz.org/blog/anchor-text-distribution-avoiding-over-optimization I just thought of you while talking to someone else. Any chance you're over the 30% for "NLP" or "NLP Training" specific anchor text?

Hi Bob,
I used this article as a basis for my example on the title tag.
Here is a quote of the relevant info.
What NOT to Do:
The most common mistake I see with multiple phrase targeting is to use a strategy like this:
Title:
Ted Baker, Ted Baker London, Ted Baker Clothing, Ted Baker Men's Clothing, Ted Baker Clothing Collection - Buy Online Now at Manamialameseo.com
Meta Description:
Ted Baker On Sale. Ted Baker Men's, Ted Baker Clothing, Ted Baker Collection, Ted Baker Online.

Are you looking at the text-only google cache when you say it's at the bottom of the page?
Has anyone out there ever seen a site be penalized for stuffing the title tag?
Thanks Don!

H1 tags are very important.Your sites is buried at the bottom of the page, with the keyword NLP towards the end of the actual tag.
Additionally I noticed that you repeat NLP in your title tag way too many times, it maybe getting marked as spam or at least penalized.
NLP California | NLP Training | NLP Certification | NLP Courses
Have you considered something like:
NPL Courses, Training, Certification | NLP Institute of California
Your site is very nice and appears to be an authority in our industry so a few simple fixes may go a long way for you.
Certainly run a On-Page Report Card to get all possible suggestions and evaluate them accordingly.
Hope it helps,
Don

Improving SEO for a Niche Blog - Seeking Advice
I am a college student studying Information Sciences and was "hired" by my uncle over the summer to work and maintain his baseball-related website, which he started in 2016. His posts provide very in-depth information but were created without a focus on SEO. I've noticed that a competing site, which seems to have started as an e-commerce site, is ranking higher than my uncle's site for the query "how much does a baseball weigh." Interestingly, this competing site ranks for keywords like "mass of baseball," even though these exact keywords are not present in the post. Given the recent Google updates and changes in rankings, I'm trying to understand: How can an e-commerce site with seemingly less specific content outrank a detailed blog post?

What strategies can I employ to improve the ranking of my uncle's site for this specific query?
Are there tools or methods I can use to analyze why the competitor is ranking higher and how to address it?
I recognize I am not well-versed in SEO, so any insights or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!0 -

How important is a keyword rich domain name for ranking?
I've read that Google has lowered the relevancy of a keyword rich domain name in recent years, but I have a scenario with a client that makes me think otherwise. My client has a particular phrase that they're trying to get rank for and are currently in position 3 of Google. Their primary competitor has position1. Using the Keyword Analysis in Moz Pro, my client has a competitor beat out in Page Authority (45 vs 36), # Root Domains Linking to Page (98 vs 9), Domain Authority (35 vs 24), and # Root Domains Linking to Domain (122 vs 15). The main difference is that the competitor has the exact phrase as part of their domain. Other than that, the phrase (on my client's site) is used in title tags, heading tags, and throughout page content. I can provide additional information if necessary, but does anybody have any general advice about this scenario?

How important are these errors?
SEMOZ have counted a numberous of errors (and some warnings as well) on our site: www.tryg.no But: How does these errors effect our ranking? I know that the errors are coming from the PRISSESSID (insurance

calculator). Some keywords are registered with 11 different URLs, wich create errors like Duplicate page content and Duplicate Page title and warnings like Long URL. SEOmoz thinks this can affect my rankings because they assume that pages will end up competing with each other. But will Google "think" the same way? Vennlig hilsen Espen Vigeland

How to gauge competitiveness on niche keywords
I'm looking to create a website selling a specific niche range of products. For example 'hair extensions.' Using opensite explorer it's fairly easy to guage the competition for similar websites focused on this niche only e.g www.hairextensionsworld.com - I just look at their authority, number of incoming links, anchortext links etc. However, I'm finding it more difficult to guage the competition if a large merchant, for example Amazon, has a page ranking for a specific keyphrase I'm after. Often the large merchant doesn't have a lot of external links to the specific page, but nonetheless it has power from being on the domain of the large merchant. Are there any good tools / metrics for guaging the competition of such pages? Page authority I guess is one? Thanks
