What can I do to increase this page's rank
-
I have this page that is doing alright for the phrase
"skyward sword walkthrough"
I used to be ranked number 2 but it has dropped
http://legendzelda.net/skyward-sword-walkthrough/
Sites like IGN are huge so I do not blame them for overpassing my rank but zelda informer I feel like I should be outranking at least.
I have a fairly good on page ranking grade using the seomoz tool.
And the OSE shows I have 11 domains linking - most with some kind of variation to that keyword. And I have actually built out more since then. Most the links are on highly relevant pages. I contacted a lot of gaming sites before this game was released and asked for a link back in exchange for a variety of things (shoutouts mostly - no paid links)
The page performed extremely well when Skyward Sword came out and I got hundreds of thousands of hits but as my rank is beginning to drop its a lot less (also can be attributed to hype dying down).
But any suggestions or glaring issues would be great. Link building is something I am always doing as well - mostly through guest blogging.

Yea I use the cufon replace thing. SEOMOZ picks it up as a h1 with the right text.
I would like to get more feedback on this though if anybody knows the effect of cufon on seo

Your H1 is coded to render as an image (in Firefox, not so in Chrome ) but I don't know how well the bots read this kind of code - here's what I pull from your source code for your H1 tag::
<div class="uscontinue"><div id="post-3126" class="post"><div class="ptitle"><h1><cufon class="cufon cufon-canvas" alt="Skyward " style="width: 125px; height: 38px;"><cufon class="cufon cufon-canvas" alt="Sword " style="width: 93px; height: 38px;"><cufon class="cufon cufon-canvas" alt="Walkthrough" style="width: 176px; height: 38px;"><canvas width="192" height="38" style="width: 192px; height: 38px; top: 1px; left: -1px;">canvas><cufontext>Walkthroughcufontext>cufon>h1>div>
here's what I would expect (and the bots as well!):
Skyward Sword Walkthrough

I was thinking it may have to do with domain authority but was hoping to outrank despite that.
My site is hardly more than 2 years old while zelda dungeon is more than 10. Zelda informer is at least 5. And IGN is even older. So I have put a fairly good dent into a lot of their keywords and will hopefully be able to do even more over the years.
And what images for h tags are you referring to?
-
Are your rivals outpacing you in quality inbound links over time? It would appear that way as the #1 SERP http://www.zeldadungeon.ne has a PA of 70 ( root domains links) and while http://www.zeldainformer.com/16-skyward-sword/walkthrough.html has PA 39 ( 4 root domains 318 links) its DA is much higher than yours with 708 linking root domains vs, your 125.
Also compare your page's Page Speed score with your competitors and see if you can improve it's load time (you score an 82/100) https://developers.google.com/pagespeed/.
Also I think your title could be improved with some branding -
Skyward Sword Walkthrough | Legend Zelda Net
Also change out the images for H tags in the page headers

Parent pages : Duplicate content
Hello, I think this question relates to "Parent pages" structure or SILO but I couldn't find an answer online. For a website that sell products, for example "Appliances". A link to this page appears in 1 category of the menu named "kitchen" but also in another 1 category named "household appliances". It means that it appears twice in the menu but with a unique URL. Would that affect SEO ? Is it duplicate content ? And would it be better to choose 1 father or let it that way ? Thanks for your help. Max

Are new pages treated similar to new domains with respect to ranking?
Hello...I'm hoping to get some advice or guidance regarding the following. My website has gone from a 30 page site about loans, to a 500 page site covering a much wider range of products such as mortgages and other more specific loan related pages. All the new pages were made live at the same time, and I've been through GWT tools to add pages with in the Google fetch and most have been indexed fine. My question is, how should I expect Google to treat all of these new pages? The site has changed massively and many of the new pages are at pages 3-4 for their key terms. Will Google treat these new pages in the same way it may a new domain, e.g. it could be potenitally a couple of months before the pages start to rank better? I appreciate that the terms are very competitive. Thanks!

Help! Someone's inserted my link in the footer of another site!
There's a site in my industry where (I'm guessing on flawed SEO advice) all of their pages contain footer links to rival sites – with each page containing a different set of links. One page has a link to my site, which I've just found out from GWT as the link now produces a 404.

Should I
a) ignore it?
b) ask them to replace it with a live link from my site (their site's highly relevant to mine)? or
c) ask them to remove it altogether as no-one wants footer links?0 -
SEO Drop rename pages
Some of key product pages have dropped due to what I think is overused anchor text. Can we rename them, and start again?

OSE shows links on sites but can't find links
Hi mozzers, I'm cleaning up our backlink profile and looking up anchortexts in OSE. I downloaded and selected one anchortext. However when I go to the sites OSE found, I can't find the links. I look in the source code and onpage keywords. Is it because of my lack of skills that I can't find the links 🙂 or isn't OSE working properly.

SEOmoz's ranking of links on competitor question..
I am Perplexed about SEOmoz crawl for new links on a competitors website. When I looked at a company who received very high ranks for the links...on SEOMoz...such as. 95, 96, 97 etc..... I couldn't figure out how they ranked so high. One company bought 20 links for a couple hundred dollars and all of them were ranked very high on SEOmoz but when I used the page rank tool on them individually they were either "0" or "1" and none were over a 2. I was debating submitting for those since I am just starting out and wanted to get our name listed in the internet world. Are the high rankings by SEOmoz related to something else? Would I be better off buying a listing in some of the premium directories instead. Like Yahoo or BBB or Manta. ( After I get my site optimized first) Thank you, Greg

Quick Wins and 'Low Hanging Fruit' - how do I identify them?
Hello, I have fairly recently taken up a position as an in-house SEO, having previously had my own (not terribly successful) ecommerce venture, so my SEO experience is at beginner level. I have read a LOT in coming up with a strategy (Laura Lippay's 8 Step Strategy, amongst so much more on here, has been epic), and have come up with something fairly comprehensive. However, it's taken me months! This is partyly due to other non-SEO responsibilities, and partly due to finding my way around all the tools & resources available, how everything fits together and what should be prioritised over what. This is massively inefficient for future projects, or indeed if I ever got a job in agency, and so I need to get quicker/more productive. I keep reading about identifying and capitalising on 'low hanging fruit' - how does one go about this? Details would be hugely appreciated - starting from the bottom up, i.e. keyword research, competitive & backlink analysis, link building etc. For the record, I have zero coding capabilities (something I plan to rectify one day soon) and so my strategy revolves primarily around content and outreach, rather changing site architecture. In any case, our website seems well put together, since new content is indexed very quickly. Thanks so much in advance, Ali (UK)

What's the real deal with nofollow
I had a few questions regarding nofollow links. It seems like more and more sites, forums, etc. nofollow their links. Is it still worth trying to get a link from? I've heard only Google takes nofollows into consideration. Do other search engines (Bing specifically) "listen" to nofollows? Finally, when checking for nofollow, does it need to be right by the link(s) or can it be anywhere in the source? Thanks in advance!
