Domain Links or SubDomain Links, which is better?
-
Hi,
I only now found out that www.domain.com and www.domain.com/ are different.
Most of my external links are directed to www.domain.com/
Which I understand is considered the subdomain and not the domain.Should I redirect? (and if so how?)
Should I post new links only to my domain? -
In Wordpress you don't have catalogues except e.g. catalogues on servr like "/wp-content/uploads/....", only posts. Some type of specific posts functions as pages.
A little bit different is with pages which are created by dynamic query like tag, category, archives. But in the end they are also posts with one specific url.
I'm linking with "/" but google indexed pages reported to index with or without "/" on the same way.

Thanks. The site I was asking about is written in aspx so there is no htaccess file.
Also I was asking specifically on the home page as it seems that the SEOMoz crawler states as if I have duplicate content on my homepage - because of the slash...
I knew to redirect domain.com to www.domain.com but didn't give any consideration to the "/".Regardless (on the same matter), I have another site which is a wordpress site and now you got me wondering - where to should I link to in my articles:
Because both would get the same page...

Hi,
from SEO point of view it is almost the same as in Highland response. Technically it is better to end links with trailing slash because when you put without server is queried 2 times (id depends on mod-rewrite in .htaccess file)
But remember it works only for main domain. For deeper structure like:
are two diff things 1st is a file content address, 2nd is an index of catalogue "content" if exist if not 1st rule
-
Highland,
This is what open site explorer shows.
It states that I have 2,005 external links to www.domain.com
and it shows that I have 7,164 total external links to www.domain.com/
It also refers to the second as a subdomain.

While they are technically different, most robots (mostly the ones that matter) are smart enough to figure out those are the same URL. I wouldn't worry about the trailing slash, although it doesn't hurt to be consistent.
Your terminology is off, however. The subdomain is what appears before the domain. So www.domain.com is a subdomain of domain.com. The trailing slash is part of the URL structure that denotes a part of the website.

How do you raise domain authority?
Hey guys, hoping you can help me out here. I've been tasked with raising several sites' domain authority to a level of 30. Right now, many of them are hovering around 20. Three weeks into this project and our numbers have dropped 1-2 points on average but I don't think our efforts would reflect that this quickly. From what I've read online, a good strategy is guest posting on relevant sites and collecting links from sites with higher DAs. I've also read at least one Moz article about this potentially being ineffective. I've read some of the related posts but they seem mostly dated and the answers didn't seem to help me. Hoping someone with some experience with this can help me out, I appreciate it.

If parent domain is www, does it matter if subdomain on a different server is non-www?
If you have a main website (www.example.com) with a subdomain of the website (service.example.com) that lives on a separate server with a separate IP address, is there an SEO benefit/advantage to have having the www included in the url since the parent url includes the www? Assume: 1. Applicable 301 redirects are in place on both sites 2. No duplicate content issues Additionally, would your answer be different if the site is a .gov or .edu site vs. a .com?

On-site links
Hi everybody, There's a lot of information about getting sitewide backlinks, but so few about on-site optimization. Is there a maximum of links to put on a page ? Is there a maximum of link that a page should receive ? etc ... ? So, what is the optimal strategy ? And I'm only concerned about on-page and on-site link, not backlinks commming from other sites. Thanks

Do I have any harmful links? If so, what should I do?
URL in question: www.nasserilegal.com/criminal.html I'm using OSE and see some questionable backlinks. At first glance, if you look at the page authority and domain authority, they look great. Once you go to the actual pages, they look spammy. If the links are hurting the rankings for the site, should I try to remove the links manually or just ignore and continue to build good quality links or even build a new site? I noticed for the last couple of weeks, the rankings started to slip. Thanks in Advance, Lucas

Better to have one subdomain or multiple subdomains?
We have quite a bit of content we are considering subdomaining. There are about 13 topic centers that could deserve their own subdomain, but there are about 2000 original articles that we also want to subdomain. We are considering a) putting the 13 centers (i.e. babies.domain.com, acne.domain.com, etc) and the 3000 articles (on a variety of topics) on one subdomain b) putting the 13 centers on their own subdomain and the remaining 3000 articles on their own subdomain as well (14 subdomains total) What do you think is the best solution and why?

Reciprocal link finder tool - not looking to do reciprocal links.
The company I work for had an old SEO company that did a lot of reciprocal links with websites that are not what we want to be associated with. Does anyone know of a tool that might be able to tell us if there are still reciprical links to our site? I want to try and find them, but the old pages we had with links going out have been deleted.

Domains
I am currently working on a huge website which ranks very well receiving 150,000 visitors every day. I have been offered the chance to buy some more domain names which would suit my keywords in the current site. These domains as a keyword also receive huge amounts of traffic. Would it be beneficial for me to do this....if so why? Thanks
