Are Linkwheels still a good thing to do?
-
Hello , readers.
I have been making a website and trying to promote it now.
I have these questions:
Are Linkwheels still a good thing to do?
Are they good to do for a new domain site?
Thanks in advance

For the amount of effort you spend on such a scheme, you could do a lot better by just trying to think outside the box, and thinking more creatively than the others in your niche. When you are forced to think of a solution that is purely white hat that can achieve or outperform a grey/black approach, you often come up with a solution that whilst maybe not so quick is going to be more sustainable and add value to your users.
I encourage you to think about what would be really awesome content/tools/linkbait for your industry, and what hasn't been done or done well (or not been updated for sometime - this is a good one), etc etc. Then do that. You will not be disappointed you bothered.

Well I was thinking on setting up a linkwheel at "bonus" hosts like blogger and squidoo etc and post some nice content (copyscape passed, relevant) there. Not a big one, like 20-25 total hosts. Put some .edu and .gov links to some of the wheel's pages. I suggest that this kind of practice will not do harm. Question is thoug, what kind of benefit will i get if im targeting not-so competitive keywords.

Will they work? Perhaps as the Google Algo's are flawed.
Are they a good thing to do? Probably not as the Panda/Farmer update has shown Google are looking to improve the quality of the results so at some point may roll out an update that impacts them.

Links are good to have if you want to show up better in search engines, but linkwheels are essentially massive link exchanges that Google does not like. Now, can they catch you? No, not really. Even simply linkwheels are gaming Google right now. Trust me, I know, I get emails all the time about getting involved in one link scheme or another. I know the players, and they rank pretty well.
Google has frowned upon this type of activity, but I haven't seen them really do anything about it, so you do it at your own risk. One problem for Google is tracking them down. Unless a website has 100% of its links come in via exchange of some kind, there's no telling if someone is participating in this or not. I'd say you could probably get away with it as long as you get other forms of links from other sources. I personally don't bother, and Google doesn't like it, so again, it's your own risk, but I've seen it be effective for several websites.

SEO Package: Good Value?
I'm having a real hard time trying to dig through all the BS and find a reputable SEO company that delivers quality and value. Anyway, here's a package that I'm considering from a company called eBrandz. It seems a bit overpriced to me, but I don't have a lot of experience with reputable SEO companies, so I'm hoping someone can weigh in - on both the package itself for the price, and the company (if you have any information about them). $1500/month 8 Guest Posts (With 80 Bookmarks) 8 Articles with Syndication (With 80 Bookmarks) 1 Press Release (With Bookmarking) 75 "Curated Business Directory Submissions" Social Bookmarking for 5 Urls (Each Url to 20 Sites) 1 (every other month) Video Creation (45 to 90 seconds) With Submission and Bookmarking.

Is blog commenting still useful for SEO, post Panda and Penguin?
One website I checked is ranking well on Google. Upon checking its backlinks, I found that most of them are blog comments. Is blog commenting still valuable? Anyone encountered any recent problem (ranks gone down, etc)? Are there any specific strategy to blog commenting these days? Thanks!

Are PR releases good for Link Building?
I'm having a bit of a conundrum with Press Releases: I recently sent a press release on PRWeb (which I personally think is just "average" compared to others as it focuses mainly on the CBS network and is not focused at all unless you pay for an expensive release) and got over 100 incoming links from high PR news sites (according to Webmaster Tools) but these links had PRWeb in subtitle, so for all I know these were syndicated releases and not "Pick up By" as PRWeb reports. Will this affect Page Rank value or rankings for any keywords? Are these links treated only as temporary links or permanent back links? (I know sometimes they appear in Google News or Yahoo News, but disappear the next day) Was it valuable to the company? Our business is in health sector exclusively on East Coast U.S. and the release was seen all over the world and not one of the links coming back was from a health-related section. They were high rank online sites, but is there value in such links? added 11/30: I was reviewing competitors' link backs I found they did a lot of press releases and gained a high-level link back from each one. These were the best/highest-authority links they had. The syndicated releases were not even listed anywhere. And then I reviewed their SERPs... and guess what, their ranks increased with each one. (So I don't think "duplication" is an issue. If anything only the syndicated copies were penalized, but not the original one)

Got a warning from Google but rankings still ok.. what to expect?
Yesterday I got THE warning from Google: "Dear site owner or webmaster of http://..., We've detected that some of your site's pages may be using techniques that are outside Google's Webmaster Guidelines. " It seems all my rankings are intact though. Some keywords got higher rankings, other dropped a little bit (-1, -2) but nothing unusual. My question is, since I got this warning, should I expect some sort of penalty soon? I see other webmasters who got their websites de-indexed after getting this warning so I'm quite concerned.

Blog Commenting good or bad?
I spend a good amount of time on SEO forums and I found a thread about building links within comments.. I personally don't see how putting my keyword in my name place and linking it to my site will benefit me, I feel like google is already on to this and no one is going to click on it. Is this a waste of time?

Blog Roll Links - A good or bad thing ?
I Use Blog roll links all the time but recently they seem to be having a lower effect on listings. Is there a limit on Blog roll links you place on a blog. Internal blog roll links and external blog roll links. Also do you rename your blog roll to something such as popular links like we do ?
