Authority versus Content in Linkbuilding

Hi there,
I am rather new to linkbuilding and reach out to various sites at the moment. The interest in linking to us is very high and now I sometimes get the question where on a particular page I'd like to be linked to from.
I then do a check in opensiteexplorer to find out about the authority of the various subpages. Yet, how do I decide if one subpage has more authority while another one has more relevancy for us (in terms of the content being provided there being more related to ours)?

Most of the time I would go with relevancy over authority if it's a link to a page that you're trying to rank for. My general rule of thumb would be to try to get more authority if linking to my homepage, and more relevancy when linking to an internal page.
There is really no "right" answer here, other than if your site's links are weak in one area (authority or relevancy) then pursue that one. And hey, how cool is it that you get to choose what page they link to you on!

Besides the sites stats in opensiteexplorer, think about which page would be more useful from the users point of view and seem the most natural and get the link from that page to your site.

Is it better to have micro-sites with good content or redirect domains?
I have a domain with a lot of content and it is an eCommerce site. I've just been told that we have another 12 domains that are inactive and do not redirect. I don't know what to do with them as they haven't been used for ages and do not direct or have any content (max of a DA or 4). Therefore which is better for SEO? To have really good content with perhaps a few regular blog posts on each of the 12 domains, or to redirect all of the domains to the one main domain? I would take 1 domain and put a lot of content on and optimise is.. spending a few weeks on one and then move onto another, all while posting on each blog on each domain. Thank you for any help! 🙂

Link value from high authority domains vs low authority domains. How big is the difference?
Hi Guys. Could you send me in the direction of some quality information on link value. i.e) How much 'link juice' do you get from high authority domains vs low authority domains. Also, I understand the Moz value for DA is logarithmic, not linear. Does this also mean that a link from a site with a really high DA would be exponentially higher value than a site with a low DA. You know....like orders of magnitude better? Cheers in advance, I love you guys 😉 Isaac.

Domain Authority
I am very new to SEO. I've built a dog grooming website for a business that my wife and I have established. www.petsalonbarkavenue.com When I try and check the metrics out, it keeps showing I have a 1 on page authority, and a 1 on domain authority. When I check a competitors site, they have certain anchor text that Moz has identified. I am pretty certain that our business is listed on the same directory as this competitor, yet Moz doesn't identify my site's anchor text. Am I doing something wrong? or is my site so new, that Moz hasn't been able to find it? Craig

Is this a good way to create engaging content?
Hi all, I believe this is my first question in this forum, so be nice 🙂 I am an SEO consultant who has recently gone out and started my own SEO consultancy. Obviously, I now find myself in a place where I am trying to create good content for my website visitors. Maybe it's link bait, or more than likely it's a way to hold myself up as an expert in the industry, while providing visitors to my site some reason to keep on coming back. As I love whiteboard Friday, I did consider - and I'm not ruling it out in the future - creating my own whiteboard Friday videos discussing the SEO issues I was focussing on. In the meantime, I am thinking of posting up SEOmoz's whiteboard Friday videos and then making my own comments and insights for my website visitors. So, what I really wanted to ask - do you guys think this is a good idea, a valid way of creating good content and has merit/credibility? http://www.nustudio.com.au/local-seo-the-basics/ contains an example of what I am talking about. Good Content Writing | How do I convince them?
Mozzers, I work in-house for a large lead generation for matchmakers. We do really well with PPC and that will always be there. They will always do PPC but have hired me to do SEO. We're ranking really good for some competitive key phrases as well. I believe in good content. I feel we should have a quality control for content just like we do before we run a a/b or a multivariate test. However there are people here who would rather pay $3 on oDesk for a article than a much higher price. How have you convinced your bosses or your clients that good quality content is the way to go? I've hassled for good links and got in contact with some bloggers who are ready to let us Guest Blog who have never done so before. What would you do?
