Is it better to have micro-sites with good content or redirect domains?
-
I have a domain with a lot of content and it is an eCommerce site. I've just been told that we have another 12 domains that are inactive and do not redirect. I don't know what to do with them as they haven't been used for ages and do not direct or have any content (max of a DA or 4).
Therefore which is better for SEO? To have really good content with perhaps a few regular blog posts on each of the 12 domains, or to redirect all of the domains to the one main domain? I would take 1 domain and put a lot of content on and optimise is.. spending a few weeks on one and then move onto another, all while posting on each blog on each domain.
Thank you for any help!

Hi Chloe,
I agree with Tim: concentrate on producing awesome content for the main site.
Just redirect the other domains to your main site.

Absolutely agree with Tim. Just having microsites like this hanging around could cause you problems. If they are inactive, just turn them off and don't even redirect them. If these sites have ever had a penalty, you might end up passing something down the line to your main site.
If you have a number of sites that you control with the sole aim of trying to prop up the SEO of your main site, then what you have is a small PBN (Personal Blog Network) and these are absolutely against Google's TOS.

Personally, if these other domains are inactive and have no content on them they are of very little use and just using them to link back to your master site is a little spammy to me. I would suggest rather than spending time on these low level peripheral sites, the best thing you can do is concentrate your time and effort on your master domain where more rewards will be had in the long run.

Do I have to be worried about listing my events on third-party sites with the same content?
Hello everyone, We run classes and we just released our 2014 schedule. I am thinking of manually posting each class on the various event sites on the web (zvents, eventbrite, yelp, etc.) Should I worry about any sort of penalty if the content of these events are exactly the same? Also, some allow links within the description, my plan was to have 1-3 links going back to my product page with varying anchor text. Is there anything I should worry about with this plan? Thanks in advance for any help

Building backlinks for a newspaper site?
Anyone have tips on building links to a newspaper site? I am looking for a strategy to create links to a news site beyond building one link at a time. We have so much content that is constantly updated that it would be impossible to do this one page at a time.

What to do with outdated (but ranking) content?
I'm SEOing for a theatre. We've got show pages that rank when searching for the business, but are outdated as the shows are from past years. The pages aren't accessible at all from the site now, but still exist in domain and are linked to by google. If you search the business, the results are: 1. [biz name] 2. [biz name] - tickets 3-6. outdated shows Should these pages be left up, or taken down and redirected home? Would there be any seo boost to the homepage from 301ing them home, or do you think it'd be more beneficial to have more results available as entry points into the site?

Linkbuilding to development site
We're creating a new website for a client, and we have already started link building to the pages, including some deep landing pages. Currently the site is blocked from being indexed - we're just concerned that there may be issues when we launch the site as there will be a lot of links pointing towards the pages from day 1. Are we ok to continue link building?
