Rankings in Google UK
-
Hi everyone,
I've posted before on this and I'm still not satisfied that the answer is correct.
Basically, my ranking report is saying that hardly any of my keywords are ranking in the top 50 of Google UK.
Now, I appreciate that rankings can be affected by my search history, but I've tried other computers, other IP addresses, logged out of Google, cleared cache etc.. and I'm still seeing the terms I'm wanting to rank for on the first and second pages of Google UK.
What is going on? My boss is wanting to see progress with these terms - I'm confident that we're ranking well, but the report is saying otherwise.
-
My UK rankings are also all over the place. I cannot use SEOmoz reports for clients at the moment, it is very annoying. I had this problem a few months ago and then it was resolved, but the last two months reports have been incorrect for quite a few keywords.

Hey there,
Sorry about the confusing rankings!
I am going to migrate this over to ZenDesk and answer you there, since I will need to get some private information about your campaigns to be able to look into this for you.
Thanks,
Chiaryn

I'm not sure if I understood the problem correctly, but if you're still seeing your site on the first page of Google UK results and the report says that it doesn't show up for the given keywords in the top 50 then it its most probably due to your geo location and the fact that your business is closest for a given keyword to where you are browsing from.
In the left column of the google window you should see a few options - one of them should say : The web > Pages from the UK - if you try to click on 'Pages from the UK' and see if that solves the problem.
-
If you try SEOMoz's Rank tool(http://www.seomoz.org/rank-tracker), it is showing you correctly. I'd use that to manualy get your rankings for your upcoming report.
The tracker and reports are only run once a week, so they will probably reflect you correctly at that time as well.
What's most likly to have happoned is that when it was last checking your position in the SERPs fluxuated and it missed you. We've had a page or two drop out of the rankings briefly at times and it isn't something to worry about unless it persists.
-
Well I'm confident of the spelling and I'm definitely using Google UK. I suspect it's to do with the fact that we're a global company and I'm trying to rank for the UK part of the site (columbusglobal.com/en-GB).
We appear to be ranking for the UK page as is seen in the SERPs, so maybe something is wrong with how SEOMoz is set up to track the UK specific pages...?
The odd thing is when I first started we appeared to be ranking well and reports reflected this. Now the site has disappeared off the reports.
-
I know people in england at least use google UK. Not sure who uses GB
The rank tracker is showing you at position 5 as well, so presuming your report/campaign is set up correctly, it should show it as that after your next crawl.
If it's not, your likely problems are a mispelling, the wrong engine being used, or the campaign is set up for a certain sub-domain and the other sub-domain is apearing in the results.
Hopefully that should clear everything up. If not I'll try to answer all I can. Best of luck beating justfooderp.com... (Who probably didn't notice the 'derp' in their url)
-
Thanks for looking and yes we're position 5 - as expected.
I noticed there is Google United Kingdom and Google Great Britain.

SERPS for Food ERP softwere look like this to me. I do not know which site is yours, but if it's here, then it's possable that either the report/campaign is set up wrong, or at the exact time that the report was last made, the results fluxuated. Try using the rank tracker tool to get a fresh result (remember to change it to google uk and check 'Check Entire Subdomain'<label for="engine"></label>).

Thanks for your tip!
I've just tried Chrome in Incognito mode and straight away I'm seeing my site rank on page 1.
These are some of the terms. can you see them on Google UK?

Most of those methods are not foolproof. Using other computers, IP adreses and clearing your search history are not going to get you de-personalised results.
If you're going to look yourself, start a new 'incognito' window in Google Crome, and you should get completely de-personalised results.
If your still showing on page 1, double check your report. Make sure the search engine is set to google UK, and thta you are using the keyword exactly (letter for letter)
If all that fails, if your willing to provide the keyword, Someone here could probably try to confirm what you are experiancing.

What works when common ranking factors fail?
I have seen in few instances where the ranking factors doesn't seem to work for competitive keywords. The websites which don't have more than one or two links rank much higher in search results. Any clue what SEOs should do in that scenario?

Can you export a keyword rankings report with the keywords listed in order of ranking ?
My keyword ranking report shows the results all jumbled. I can put them in order when viewing the report online, but when I export it , the results go back to all jumbled rankings.

Rank Tracker Logging Me #Out
Hi I was wondering if someone could help me with something? Whenever I try and use the rank tracker SEOmoz logs me out and won't let me log back in until I go to a different page. Is this because I am on a free trial (which I don't understand as I am able to use the other tools)

How to rank each page correctly in the search engines
Hello everyone, I am new to SEOmoz and SEO in general. I am trying to wrap my head around everything and one of the issues I am having trouble grasping is how each individual page on our website plays into ranking for certain keywords. I will explain in more detail below: 1.) We are not a blog, we have a pretty static website. 2.) We can add as many pages to our website as needed (for SEO purposes) 3.) Our site is fairly small, about 25 pages on the website. Now with that information above, here are our main questions & concerns: 1.) What is the best way to rank in the search engines for 50 of our best converting keywords with only 25 pages on our website? 2.) We have 2-3 competitors that rank in positions 1-3 for about 30 of our keywords we are trying to rank for. But no matter what you type in, for example, "cars" "buy cars" "buy a car online" "truck prices" etc, the results that the search engines display our their homepages. Not the other pages on their websites that actually rank for each one of those individual keywords. Is this normal? That is something that we would like for our rankings to do if we have any control over it. 3.) Should each page try to rank for a unique individual keyword? For example, when using the SEOmoz On-page Optimization tool, should I try ranking 2 pages for "buy cars online" or just 1 page? Say my homepage has an "A" grade for the keyword, "buy cars online" but so does my second page on my website. Are these pages essentially competing with each other? Or will the search engines pick their favorite page and display the one they like the best? Any help is greatly appreciated and I look forward to getting this cleared up. Thanks

Ultimate Ranking Tool integrating Analytics / Adwords / Google WM Tools
I currently use SEOMOZ Campaigns and Advanced Web Ranking for monitoring our KW rankings and those of competition. AWR is a brilliant tool with so many different reports, methods of viewing etc. SEOMOZ campaigns are good but don't come close to the monitoring power of AWR (EG I monitor over 50 competitors on over 1000 KW's on a Daily basis with AWR and recieve a variety of set emailed reports on the data). However, one thing that SEOMOZ campaigns have that is useful is the traffic data - but this is still a bit basic and I think could be improved. The problem with AWR is that it doesn't integrate with your Analytics / Adwords / Google WM Tools - so it is only showing you half the picture. Knowing how your site ranks for each keyword is helpful, but it would be nice to understand the value of each keyword. For example, being able to see your rank position and how much traffic that keyword has sent you over time would be helpful. It would also be nice to see the number of searches that are performed for that keyword each month . For example, lets say I saw that I was ranking at number 11 for “hover mower” and getting 500 hits per month. Two months from now, if I was ranking at position 7, it would be nice to be able to immediately see how that changed the amount of traffic I was receiving for the term. Is a position of 11 (first item on page two) better than position 10 (last item on page one)? If you can link it to your analytics, you could then link it to your goals, and goal values to get a complete picture of where your keywords rank the value of the rank, and the improvment on that value when rank changes. If browsed around for such software but can't find anything like this - does anyone know of any software that can do this - or something close to this? Many thanks

Ranking better
Hello there, I am after some specific guidance on how to rank well for the keyword ‘Translation Services’. I have managed to get the site www.pstranslation.co.uk to page 2 of google UK for this key term. The difficulty is I seem to have run out of steam now on how to get higher rankings. After spending a considerable amount of time creating content and gaining links I managed to get the site from around page 15 on google uk to page 4 then to page 2. That’s where it seems to have stopped. I (think I) have got the onsite SEO pretty well nailed. I have got some good linkable content (http://www.pstranslation.co.uk/infog_languages.html,http://www.pstranslation.co.uk/language_resources_indus.html) and have plans to produce a more. Experience working within the language industry tells me that a top 3 position on page 1 for this keyword can very lucrative so my main focus of SEO is to rank well for this key phrase. There is a very good chance you reply will simply be get more (better) links and if it is that’s fine but is there anything else I can do? Am I missing a very obvious trick anywhere? Looking forward to your reply.
