Cosmo feature: any difference between linking a phrase or .com?
-
I just had an article posted on Cosmopolitan.com to my site, www.100redflags.com. My request to them was that they link specifically the phrase "100 Red Flags" to http://100redflags.com, but they actually said "go to 100redflags.com" - with 100redflags.com hyperlinked.
My question:
-
If I'm trying to build rank with the term "red flags", or at least "100 red flags", is the way that they did it helping me at all?
-
If it will help me more to have them link the phrase "100 Red Flags", does it matter whether they do that today when traffic is high, or tomorrow when traffic is lower?
Thanks for the clarification,
Bill

YES. Great link. Fantastic.

I would be singing hymns for those folks, not taking them to task because of the anchor text. Write to them and say THANK YOU! Its PERFECT!

Agree with Bill. The link is still valuable. Google has said (warned) over the last year or so that they are looking hard at link profiles, anchor text and other things to indicate link quality. I think they are trying to really dig down and get a "natural link profile" together for websites. A natural profile will have a good variety of keywords, brand name, website domain name and other stuff (like "click here").
The true value there is the domain authority that cosmopolitan is passing through to you. Dont be too concerned with the anchor text.

yes it is helping you. You are getting a link to your homepage, and you have an exact match domain name for what you want. So, they likely did not really cause any problem IMO.
-
Interesting assumption on traffic here.... I think it helps you either way today or tomorrow, the same. Remember, the link is a gift that keeps on giving. One days worth of traffic will likely make no difference either way.
Best,

Bottom top or footer for internal linking
ı am trying to improve internal linking in one of my projects. I wonder if there is any difference in bottom top and footer linking on a website. You can check the website here https://www.mngturizm.com/, ı added my main pages in menu and others in bottom top. İs there any evidence that it is usefull or not. I did not see short term evidence.

What is the easiest and most scalable way to add links from one page to a related page entry?
We have a Spanish language reference site, and want to link related entries to each other. For example, the entry for "home" can link to the page with the entry for "home away from home." What is the best and most efficient way to do this at scale?

Restarting SEO when you move to different state
Hi every one, I have been working on my local citations but I have a blog which has been up for 4 years and has about 500 blog posts but I was living in NJ before and there is loads of stuff from jersey and also I have a lot of errors which is way too much to go back and fix like thousands since I am a photographer and loads of images. Would I be better off starting a new blog in my new SC region? my blog is feuzablogs.com and my main website is feuzareis.com so I thought of just doing a www.feuzareis.com/blog is it too much google juice to miss out on? is changing locations worth keeping blogging at this previous blog or should I just leave it up and start a new one which will be focused on new location? thanks

Is it advisable to have unique pages for different cities/states though there wouldnt be any actual differentiation in the actual content.
Is it advisable to have unique pages for different cities/states though there wouldnt be any actual differentiation in the content. For example should we have separate pages for "hammers in california" & "hammers in new york". The product is same and content more or less the same. The search volume for individual queries is low but collectively makes a large number. The unique title tag automatically will generate traffic. So does it make sense to make 50 such pages. Else is there any way to uniquely target 50 such queries/month/city

My Wordpress traffic has gone through the roof, huge referrals from wordpress.com - why?
My Wordpress traffic has hit an all time high over the last few days - in the last 48 hours I've had as many views as the last two months combined. This huge spike in traffic has coincided with a great piece of exclusive content that went up, but I wouldn't expect the traffic to be nearly as high as this. The strange thing is that all the extra traffic seems to be referred from Wordpress.com, however, I cannot drill down to a more specific URL. Also, the referrals do not seem to translate into page views of the homepage, nor a particular article. Can anyone offer any insight into this situation? Thanks

How important is linking out to relevant, authoritative sites?
As I write blog articles for my site I often come across a situation where I'm quoting something from another site, or using a piece of data from that other site to make a point. I know it's nice and courteous to link to the source when I do this but from a pure SEO point of view, does it matter? Is there any benefit to linking from my site to other sites that are related and authoritative on the subject I'm discussing? I know I'll bleed off a little link juice to that external site that would otherwise go towards my internal links on the same page, but are there other benefits to linking out to known good sites? Is that any kind of signal to Google that I'm playing in a good neighborhood?
