Is is better to write something on Squidoo or do a guest post?
-
I've got a blog that has a good follower count, moz score, twitter fan base and PR offer to let me do a guest post, as long as the approve it. Is it better to do that vs. a Lens on Squidoo? I'm thinking the blog post would be best but Squidoo has huge domain authority. Would that get the content out there more and hopefully get others to link to it?
And yes I know I should be writing something for both. I probably will but let's just pretend I'm not going to. I'm like everyone else, too little time and too much to do.

Thanks guys. That's about what I was thinking too.

I would focus more on Guest blog posts for multiple reasons.
1. You get a contextual, relevant link, if the blog is within your niche.
2. The referral traffic from the blog can be more powerful than the link equity you receive from the post
3. The relationship you build with the guest blogging approach is priceless and can only lead to bigger and better things.
Squidoo can be extremely effective in certain niches for driving real traffic. For my niche, it took me a 2-3 hours to prep a nice Squidoo lens which does shockingly well at driving traffic to my site. The Page Authority (Moz) also shot up to 62PA relatively quick, so that's an extra perk. The real value on Squidoo is creating content that delivers people to your site, not so much for getting a boost from the Domain's authority.

Squidoo, and indeed HubPages are great, I use the frequently and as you kind of picked up already yes the real answer is you should look at both guest blogs and Squidoo lenses. The one thing you should focus on here is relativity i.e. how relevant is the blog and it's audience to your market. If there is a real opportunity of a great blog to guest blog on, I would jump on it. Google is placing a lot more emphasis on relativity and of course understands that anyone can add to Squidoo with it begin an open platform. There is always tomorrow for Squidoo, it's not going anywhere, so I would take any quality distinguishable exposure you can get.

Can buying a sponsored post (for non SEO purposes) on a website where you already have a guest post have a negative impact?
Hi, I thinking about buying a sponsored post about our product on a website we have previously contributed a guest post. Can a new sponsored post make Google think our original guest post was paid for? Thanks, Ori

Links / Metadata around Recent Posts etc in Wordpress / Blog - Good SEO Practice?
Hello In a Wordpress blog ( or part of an ecommerce site that runs under wordpress ) it is good to show recent posts in the sidebar on most pages. Obviously the posts aren't going to be relevant to every post , so my questions are: Is having these on the page hurting SEO for the page? Is there good metadata structure to put in there? ( like rel="nofollow" or similar ) Thoughts?

What is better? No canonical or two canonicals to different pages?
I have a blogger site that is adding parameters and causing duplicate content. For example: www.mysite.com/?spref=bl

www.mysite.com/?commentPage=1 www.mysite.com/?m=1 www.mysite.com/?m=0 I decided to implement a canonical tag on these pages pointing to the correct version of the page. However, for the parameter ?m=0, the canonical keeps pointing to itself. Ex: www.mysite.com/?m=0 The canonical = www.mysite.com/?m=0 So now I have two canonicals for the same page. My question is if I should leave it, and let Google decide, or completely remove the canonicals from all pages?0 -
Including FAQ as Invividual Blog Posts Without Duplicate Issues
My website's FAQ section has a lot of detailed answers, of which I want to upload most on an individual basis to my blog. Example: I may have 30 FAQ and I want to upload 28 of these FAQ as individual blog posts, as it could be good additional search traffic. Question: how do I deal with duplicate content issues? Do I Include canonical? The FAQ are all on the same URL - not separate URL's - which means each blog post would only represent a small % of the entire FAQ section, though each blog would be a 100% copy of an FAQ.

How do I change HTML title, and add H1 tags with Volusion? and why is it so hard!?!?! wordpress is WAYY better.
So I could go in depth with this and tell you all about the problems I have encountered with Volusion... but i'm not. I just need to help a client change the 7,000 product pages they have that have duplicated title tags, and no H1 tags. (probably one of the worst case of On-Page SEO set ups ever right? Shouldn't Volusion be built to help you do these types of essentials easily? Or (for the price) even better would be to do it automatically based on the product name??)

Wordpress Duplicate Content Due To Allocating Two Post Categories
It looks like google has done a pretty deep crawl of my site and is now showing around 40 duplicate content issues for posts that I have tagged in two seperate categories for example: http://www.musicliveuk.com/latest-news/live-music-boosts-australian-economy http://www.musicliveuk.com/live-music/live-music-boosts-australian-economy I use the all in one SEO pack and have checked the no index for categories, archive, and tag archive boxes so google shouldn't even crawl this content should it? . I guess the obvious answer is to only put each post in one category but I shouldn't have to should I? Some posts are relevant in more than once category.
