Google notice of unnatural links - no penalty
-
my site just received this warning on 3/18. I haven't seen any rankings drop or anything... i don't know why i got this as i really don't build links in a frowned upon way.
Anyone know if you get penalized for this, and if so, how long after you get the message does the penalty kick in, and what is the penalty....
Also, if i gave you guys my domain name do you think you'd be able to tell which links would cause this message?
thanks

Your rankings won't come back right away. You'll have to wait for a couple crawls from Google Bot.

I have removed my ads from Armageddononline.org.... My SERPS are getting worse and worse though. Have any of you seen anything else in my backlink profile that you think i should attempt to clean up?
I am working on getting that blog put on my site (had to contact my developer) so that it is .com/blog...
All of the content on my site is unique, any other ideas? What is the difference between finding blog posts, reading them and commenting and building "real links"
thanks

No I'm not sure. The only way to be sure is to contact Google through GWT and hope they reply. Tell them you are taking these of because you didn't know any better. If there are any other paid ads that you see in GWT, investigate them and let us look at them here in this thread.
But if I was Google, that would be a BIG warning to stop doing it. So I don't know if your site will be affected, but don't repeat the process. INSTEAD go write KICK ASS content and build 'real' links to those pages. Also leverage your blog. I see that it's on a completely different domain. http://plastic-bins.com/akro-mils-bins-vs-quantum-storage-bins/ Why not have it on the same site under /blog?
-
Thank you... Are you certain that is why I got this error message from google? I always thought it was ok to buy ads on sites.... Also. I've had these ads on that site for a while, why the notice from google now?
-
Get your add off that. Armageddon has nothing to do with plastic bins. Also, you obviously did this for link building purposes. Perhaps one of your competitors reported you. You said you didn't get any paid links? In my book you did. You paid for an . To me that's a paid link. "IF" you paid for your ad on a relative website, then I think you would be okay. If Armageddon is not converting into buyer, get rid of it.
-
Please advise if you think it has anything to do with the links i bought (NOT PAID LINKS, ADS) that i bought on this site. You'll notice there's two ads in the right hand column and webmaster tools shows over 400,000 links from this site ..... http://www.armageddononline.org/
please tell me if that could be causing the problem (i always thought you were allowed to buy ads, i didn't know that was considered a bad practice by google)
thanks,

Ok. My domain is : http://goo.gl/JgK1e I'm starting too some rankings fall.. Help Please... Thanks

I got this message March 2nd and last week several of my main keywords dropped off completely. I've been getting paid links removed all week and just tonight my main keyword is back but 3rd page back from #6. I've noticed that only keywords I heavily build links to were affected by this algo. update. 700k people in same boat I heard I thought having fresh, great content & high authority back links I would rule .. not so much now.

Post your domain, I want to take a look.
-
I dont know if you get penalized, but i would say that the links would be dissmissed. You may not se a difference as they have have been dissmissed long ago as the warning to quite new.
Yes if you give a domain name, i think they should be obvious.

Submitting pages to google to expidite them finding links to my site
Is it a good practice to submit a page linking to my site to expedite google finding the link or is it better to wait for the google spider to find it? Thanks, Ron!

Penalty? NoFollowed Link Profile
Could an abnormal ratio of nofollow links cause a drop in rankings? Our "Followed Linking Root Domains vs. NoFollowed Linking Root Domains" is 50/50... while our competitors have an average ratio of 90/10. The reason for our abnormal ratio is that: A) We're a relatively new site, with a small link profile so far. B) We have a WordPress plugin that allows other publishers to add our content to their site (which has a nofollow backlink included). And, as a followup question... if we removed the nofollow backlink completely, but still left the branded text there... could we potentially still benefit from it (our brand name being near targeted keywords that appear in the plugin content)?

Unnatural inbound link warning
Hey guys, One of our clients has just reported that they've received an email from WMT stating they may have "Unnatural Inbound Links". I've done some research and found this link which certainly seemed applicable; http://searchengineland.com/how-to-remove-your-unnatural-inbound-links-130073 As you can imagine, going through all of the client's backlinks may be a time consuming process so I was just wondering what the time frame for these Google warnings is like? Because we've got the email now, does it mean that a bad link was built fairly recently? Or could it have been a number of months ago? Also, what are people's experiences dealing with these type of emails? Is it just a case of sifting through links and then re-submitting to WMT? Thanks

Link Building
I noticed another SEO builds backlinks (tons) on a social media profile that then has a link to his client's site. Another site he builds backlinks are a bitly account that 301's to the clients account. Why would you do this? Is it that you can build links indiscriminately to build a page up in PR to 3-4-5 PR, then pass that higher PR to your site (safe). Is that PR building method better than placing 100's of smaller PR links on your site? It seems logical that if you passed in a tremendous amount of juice to juice a site up to PR4, you won't make your main site PR4 by JUST that link. You would need to build a lot of PR4 sites to make your site PR4. Why not just put all the backlinks on the main page instead of building up secondary social profiles etc... Please reveal this secret. I know a lot of SEOs are using this method. Help 🙂

What is the difference between external followed links and internal followed links.
I have almost 3,000 external links followed and only a tiny amount of internal followed links. My website is doing really badly on google at the mo. I am also an SEO beginner and learning new stuff every day, but am not sure exactly what the difference is! Thanks!

Are you careful about linking back to sites that link to you?
Suppose that a trusted website added you to their recommended links page. Do you worry that linking back to them from a page on your site will diminish the value of the original link?

Value of Link Redirect from Google News
Some sites are linking to us with the URL from Google News instead of using a direct link. For example: "http://news.google.com/news/url?sa=t&fd=R&usg=ghjgjhggjhgkjghjg&url=http://www.oursite.com/awesome-news-010123/" Does this pass the same value as a normal link? I asked the publisher to replace the link with a normal link but they pushed back saying that the news URL is better.
