Can bad text URLs hurt pages?

If you have some pages that contain plain text URLs (not anchored links) that used to be good URLs, but are now bad, either because the website shut down or because it has been acquired by someone else and is now parked (or worse) - are those URLs enough to cause quality problems?
For example:
This information was brought to you by Waymaker http://www.waymaker.net
These aren't the only ones.
And yes, I know I should fix them, but there are probably 10,000 pages like it.
I will fix them, but its not something I can do in a few minutes.
(this one is easy to fix programmatically, but others are a lot more complex)
So my question is: do you have actual experience that these are bad enough to cause ranking problems (making them low quality)

These are links on my site in old stories.
Some aren't links, as in the example above, they are just plain text - no anchor tag.
Some are anchor links, to website are now defunct
Some are anchor links to websites that have now been parked
Some are anchor links to websites that have now been taken over by unrelated people.
So my aim is to clean them all up, but I'll do the most damaging ones first, because there are a lot of pages.

If bad anchor tech could hurt your quality then every competitor would be linking to you with bad anchor text. You simply do not get the same quality benefit as good anchor text. Put it this way:
Site A = Vet
Site B = Dog Parlor
Site C = Car SalesSite A ---> Site B with Anchor Text "Wash Your Dog" = 9/10 Quality Link
Site A ---> Site B with Anchor Text "www.dogservice.com" = 7/10 Quality Link
Site A ---> Site C with Anchor Text "Car Sales" = 2/10 Quality Link
Site A ---> Site C with Anchor Text "ww.carsales.com" = 1/10 Quality LinkAs shown above, relevant links are what counts, Anchor text just gives you a added benefit

I don't think that bad anchor tags can hurt you unless you're pointing to bad pages on your own site. Linking to a 404 page, for instance, will cause bots to try and spider the bad page instead of a good page. The concept here is called crawl budget and it's not devastating, it just slows down indexation.
I don't think a plain text reference can hurt you at all.

2 Similar Pages
Hello, I have two very similar pages. The first page is an apartment rental page with a map, rental listings and some neighborhood data below. The neighborhood data includes useful info about the area with photos, text about the area, crime rates, avg. rental rates, etc. The second page is a neighbourhood guide that includes virtually the same data as the rental page, but in longer form ie. more photos, more text, etc. I want the rental page to rank, while ranking the neighborhood page is not important as it would be used more for link bait. But since the information on the two pages is the same, I don't want them to compete with each other. I'm thinking of putting a cannonical tag on the neighborhood page pointing back to the rental page. Is that the correct thing to do in this instance? Thanks for your help. J

Page Layout Updates and Mobile Pages with Ads
I have been trying to do some research on the Page Layout Algorithm and Top Heavy Ads and much of what I read does not mention about mobile pages as apposed to desktop. I am curious if the Page Layout updates can be effected by mobile pages as well and if there is any good articles on this subject. Also is this Algorithm been incorporated into its regular algorithm or do we still have to wait for refreshes to see the impact? Cesar

Duplicate Content - What can be duplicate in two different product pages.
I am having a hard time understanding how my 3 different product pages are being shown up as Duplicate Content in s crawl. Some of my 21 different pages are being shown as duplicate content. Page authority still on 1 after url change and 301 redirect
Hi Moz analytics suggestion to help ranking is to have a keyword or phrase in the url so I advised a client to do this they changed one of their pages urls, this page previously had a page authority of 26 since the change its gone down to 1.

I advised them that they must do a 301 from the old page but they took a few weeks to do this, would this of affected it why is it not showing up yet its been 3 weeks now, since the 301 and 5 weeks since the url change.0 -
Canonical to the page itself?
Hello, I'd like to know what happens when you use canonical to the same page itself, like: Page "example.com" rel canonical="example.com" Does that impact in something? Bad or good? See ya!

Seeking URL Advice
Hey Moz Community, I'm looking for some URL structure advice for a new directory of a website. We're trying to rank for the term 'internships abroad in <country>'</country> We have roughly 100 pages targeting specific countries. Right now the URL structure is www.gooverseas.com/internships-abroad/china, but some of my colleagues believe this structure would be better: www.gooverseas.com/internships-abroad/intern-in-china. I personally prefer the shorter structure, but we couldn't come to any agreement so we thought we'd pose the question to the community. Any thoughts? Thanks!

Duplicate pages
Hi, I am using a CMS that generates dynamic urls that according to the SeoMoz tool will be indexed as duplicate pages. The pages in questions are forms, blog-posts etc. that are not crucial to achieve ranking for. I do worry though about the consequences of having 20 (non-duplicate)pages with static urls and about 100 pages that are duplicates with dynamic urls. What consequences will this have for the speed that the robots crawl the site and could there be negative effects on ranking for the entire domain?

How many urls per page is to many
I know it used to be 100 urls per page, but recently Matt cutts has said that they can count a lot more now. I was wonder what you guys thought was how many was to many per page?
