Wondering why my site ranks well for one page and not another.
-
Customers mainly find our site from searching very specific part numbers on google. My site is launch3telecom.com.
Take for example these two parts:
MT500A-81015 MR050-81045Search only those parts in google - we rank 3rd for one of them and don't rank at all for another.
Is there any way to check backlinks pointing to those pages? We even show up before big sites like ebay and such on one of them.
Can anyone help me understand this?

David,
Log into GWT, and under "Site configuration", select "Settings". There you will see that you can select your Preferred domain. (www or non www)
From Google: If you specify your preferred domain as http://www.example.com and we find a link to http://example.com, we'll consider both links the same. Learn more about setting a preferred domain.

In GWT there is no preferred URL set, and a couple months ago, I started redirecting www to non-www. Should I do this differently?

One word... competition.
I act as 'Director of Marketing' (aka SEO/Graphic Designer) at a small tech company that specializes in Cisco networking equipment. I can tell you from experience that small variations in part #s like these can have a huge amount of variation when it comes to the competitiveness of the keyword.
For example,
CISCO1812-SEC-K9 Extremely Competitive
CISCO1812-SEC-K9-P Not Very Competitive at all.
This is an example, and I probably have the part #'s wrong, but basically one is the power adapter, and one is the actual $2500 router. Your competitors are likely concentrating on the products that have the highest profit margins.
Part # searches for hardware have a very good conversion rate, as this is usually what a potential customer will search for after they've decided what piece of equipment they want or need, and are trying to find the best price. So the fact that you're ranking above high authority domains for certain part numbers is awesome, but more demand and higher margins for a specific part will naturally lead to more competition.
Could also be other factors like backlinks and keyword density, just like Donnie mentioned. It's hard to tell without competitive and search analysis for those keywords.

You must have recently setup your www and non www canonicalization right? This may be the reason, since both of the pages have no OSE (Open Site Explorer) info for the non www version, but do have equal metrics for the www version.
If this is the case make sure you work with GWT and take care of this.

Every page on your site will rank individually for keywords. These two product numbers you have listed are not being competed for. Google has piked up these numbers from wherever they can find them. Perhaps you have these codes (phrases) mentioned more times or someone else is mentioning you to be the place for that code. In reality there are 200 factors that help a keyword rank on a SERP.

2 Urls rank on page one, what should I do?
Hey Mozzers, I would like some input from you guys please. For keywords "car service dc" "dc car service" "car service washington dc" my site ranks in positions 7, 8 . My home page www.dcacar.com and also a landing page for washington dc: https://www.dcacar.com/washington-dc-car-service.html Is there something I can do to rank higher? Should I 301 redirect the landing page to the home page? If you have any suggestions and have experience in such cases your input will be greatly appreciated. Our home page also ranks for almost 20 other very important keywords that drive a lot of business to us. So I am a bit scared to touch the title tag on the home page. 2nd question. It's been almost 2 weeks that the local pack is showing 2 results for the same keywords. We are #3 lost our space from the result. Are you noticing any changes to your local packs? Why are there 2 results and not 3? When I search for similar keywords but in other cities I usually get 3packs even now. Any suggestions on making into the top two? We have 3 times more reviews than the other 2 companies the only thing I see that makes them rank above us is their company names are almost exact match with the keyword. Thanks in advance for your time and help.

# of links and how it impacts ranking
Hi everyone I was running a competitor analysis in Moz Pro of my site and 3 competitors that are ranked above me. One of the things I noticed is that my # of total links is very high compared to 2 of my competitors(please see attachment). Other seo tools are telling me the same. This is mainly due to a few affiliate sites that have us in their footer. I was wondering if this could impact our ranking if some of these sites have very low domain authority and have thousands of backlinks to our site? I am looking into starting the disavowing process. What to do about one site dominating search results? (multiple pages ranking)?
Anybody have thoughts on dealing with search results where the same site gets listed multiple times? "weebly vs wix" is one example (same site #1-3, repetitive articles, not crazy high authority), but I see this now and then. I know Google likes variety, so it's weird for me to see results like this dominating search results. Thoughts? What gets these sites to take over the top rankings for a specific term? Any way to rise up in this situation, outside of the usual? Any tips on duplicating this kind of success?

Majestic gives me a 24 situation and 24 trust flow. Seomoz just a total number of 7\. How come the difference? My ranking is still bad, so is Majestic crawling faster then google?
Hi, my total domain value number on SEOmoz is 7. In Majestic it is 24 situation and 24 trust flow. My ranking is still bad (page2) and my competitors have a lower trust/ situation flow in Majestic. But in Seomoz the're better. Is the conclusion that Majestic is more up to date then Google itself and that Seomoz is more inline with the google crawling? Because Majestic doesnt reflect my ranking. (ps I started with the domain for a month, and I only have some history in registration)

Open Site Explorer is not showing dmT. Where do I go to get this metric.
Just trying to understand the video I watched on Link Building w/ Open Site Explorer. I'm not seeing the dmT metric in the live version. Has it been replaced by something else. Or is there someplace else I need to look for it?

How can my site not ranked on easy keyword while it currently ranked 1 on difficult keyword??
The site in question is http://ikt.co.id The site is perfectly optimized (or even over optimized) for keyword "Bikin Website Murah" (in Indonesia it means "develop an affordable website") currently if you search on both google.co.id AND google.com, it ranked on #10 (on google.co.id) and it ranked on #7 (on google.com), and both term only return 1.3 million results I have A LOT OF pages that started with 'bikin website' , or 'website murah' ... there are a lot of them, and i have had a lot of backlinks on those pages too (have been manually building a lot of links, starting from creating a tutorial article and blog submission and many other way) .. the site has been perfectly optimized for that keyword For example we have http://ikt.co.id/blog-category/bikin-website-murah-promo-terbaru.html (for newest promotion) http://ikt.co.id/blog/bikin-website-seo-murah-discount-40-sampai-31-juli-2011.html (for discount 40% promo that lasted untill 31 juli 2011) AND YET, if you search on google.co.id for keyword "2000 likes facebook" , our lone page that i created when our facebook likes reached that amount, RANKED #1!! , and please let me tell you this term return 400 million results++ (on google.com this keyword ranked #19, on 500 million results++). And let me tell you it take that SINGLE page (which has absolutely 0 backlinks) 2 days to ranked #1 .... and her brother if you searched "1000 likes facebook" also show similar result (though not better then the sister) How ?!? and Why ?!? , i dont understand this at all.... my domain does not contain any keyword, they uses the same engine and yet that lone pages which have absolutely no backlink ranked so well on a very competitive keyword, while my Target Keyword ranked poorly.... And what is even more bizzare? "Bikin website murah" might not rank good, but "bikin website" ranked better x_x ... arghh i dont get it... why my site ranked poorly on easy keywords and ranked high on difficult keywords :(( .... Why I am not smiling because those easy keyword is actually my primary keywords 😞
