Domain/page authority - how long does it take so see results ?

Im new to the SEO and link building world.

I have been building on my link building campaign over the last month or two but I am yet to see any changes in my domain/page authority. Is it because of the quality of the links, the directories I have been submitting in, webmasters maybe using "nofollow" tag ect. Or it generally just takes time to see the results? Is this even how domain/page authority is built. lol

Any information on the topic would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you very much Keri. Is there any information anywhere about how those metrics are calculated ?

e.g, I post 20 links in 20 different forums  along with submitting to 20 directories and gaining links from 10 blogs/websites I will get 1 point in my domain or page authority.

The Page and Domain authority calculations are updated when Linkscape is update. Usually that's on a monthly basis, but it's been two months since the last update. The next update will be later this week, and you should see some metrics change then.
