Target inside pages for specific country
-
Hi! How are you?
I'm having the following problem: I have a client that has a big multilingual website, in spanish, portugese and english. The server is in Brazil, but he wants to migrate it to USA. I think that this will affect my SERPs in Brazil, and Brazil is the most important country where we need to be first in SERPs.
I'd like to, somehow, tell Google that http://website.com/pt is for Brazil and http://website.com/es is for Argentina, so I can avoid the problem that I'll have when the migration is completed and I lose my brazilian IP.
Do you have any tips on what should I do?
Thanks!
Best wishes,
Ariel

Thank you both!
I was able to geotarget the subfolder via Webmasters Tool. Now I'll check the results.
Thank you!

Actually what you're saying is not correct. In fact you can geotarget also at subfolder (and subdomain) level via Google Webmaster Tools.
So it is perfectly possible for Ariel to tell to Google that all the content under the subcarpet /es/ for Argentina (but then would be better to call the subfolder /es-ar/) and /pt/ for Brasil (again: maybe is better to call the subfolder /es-ar/).
How to tell to Google that you want to geotarget a subfolder or a subdomain? Doing this: once you’ve added your main site (e.g. domain.com) and verified it in Webmaster Tools, simply register a new site in the same account – but set the new site as domain.com/es (or whichever your root subfolder is named). You can use that account to geo-target to Argentina – the option is in ‘settings’ in the left-hand panel. You can repeat the same process for as many folders as you want to geo-target.

I don't think you can "tell" Google that different parts of your site are targeting different locations. If you were using multiple domains you could use the targeting section of GWMT but unfortunately that doesn't apply here.
There are ways that you can send a strong signal to Google that content is targeted at a specific country such as;
- Use of local language
- Using local currency
- Local addresses/phone numbers
- Links from other local sites
It might also be worth using the markup for places/organizations on Schema.org. I'm not sure if Google are using that particular microdata but it can't harm anything.

Local SEO: Specific pointers on how to improve my campaign
Hello, I changed my address midstream in my campaign, from spelling out "Suite H" to now it's #H. Wow, what a cleanup job. I'm in at least 3 dozen directories I've found, and it looks like there are more. I'm adding myself to all the main directories that yext lists here. I've also used whitespark for a couple of months. My site is here. The term I'm targeting is "Boise Weight Loss. I"m on page 3 and not in the local results. Could you guys give me some pointers on how to get up into the top 3 of the local results? I'm planning on cleaning up and adding directories. I don't know how many I'll need, and of course I am looking for pointers on the other factors (besides citations) as well. Thanks!

Google+ Business Page Location Problem
I run a business in the St. Louis area. Oddly, St. Louis is broken up into more than 100 municipalities. Google keeps listing my plus page by the small municipality I am in within St. Louis, which limits my ability to show up in the St. Louis local search results. However, other businesses in town are being listed under St. Louis instead of their municipality. Any ideas on how to change this? When I go in and try to change it myself, it just stays the same. Thanks, Steve

Google Local Page Not Showing in Search Results
Hi! I am having an issue with our business's Google+/Local/Places/whatever-the-heck-you-call-it-these-days page not showing up in search results. I work for a company called Nexxtep Technology Services. We are located in Valdosta, GA. We have a Google+ page that's filled out nicely and I would love it if it would show up next to the search results when you search "nexxtep technology services" or "nexxtep valdosta" in Google. For some reason, it does not. I have a feeling what might be a source of the issue...we have developed and hosted websites for clients, and we used to put a link to our site in the footer. Now, I know that's not a good thing to do. We don't do that anymore, and I have since removed those links from existing sites. I removed them almost 6 weeks ago now. Should I give Google a little more time to crawl these sites again? Any guidance would be tremendously appreciated. Thank you for your help!

Google Place pages and regular listings in search results
I'm trying to clarify something about search results which contain local listings. Here is the search string for Google that will give you the same results that I am seeing - http://www.google.co.uk/search?&q=letting agents glasgow&pws=0 Of the results that are returned, some of them have data which seems to be related to their Google Place page but the "title" links directly to their website. What I wanted to know is, "Is it their actual website that has given them those rankings" or "Are they listed where they are because of a well optimized and ranked Places page?
