Why is SEOMoz telling me that meta descriptions are missing?
-
We have descriptions using an Ektron CMS on a .NET platform. IT is wondering if using "meta ID" vs "meta name" is the issue? Here is an example of the HTML code:
<meta http-equiv="<a class="attribute-value">Content-Language</a>" name="<a class="attribute-value">Language</a>" content="<a class="attribute-value">en</a>" /> <meta id="<a class="attribute-value">ctl00_metaTagControl1_metaKeywords</a>" name="<a class="attribute-value">Keywords</a>" content="<a class="attribute-value">hunting, fishing, outdoor, sportshooting, rodeo, off-road, hunt, fish, outdoors, community, shotgun, rifle, bass, trout, sportfishing, tarpon, ATV, television</a>">meta> <meta id="<a class="attribute-value">ctl00_metaTagControl1_metaDesc</a>" name="<a class="attribute-value">Description</a>" content="<a class="attribute-value">Deep-cranking technique lands Starks his second Elite Series victory.</a>">meta> <meta id="<a class="attribute-value">ctl00_metaTagControl1_metaSubject</a>" content="" name="<a class="attribute-value">subject</a>">meta> <meta id="<a class="attribute-value">ctl00_metaTagControl1_metaRating</a>" content="" name="<a class="attribute-value">rating</a>">meta>

Thanks Jim. I am not a coder so was unaware of w3.org. I sent it to my tech team to check out. I ran the site and it is showing some coding errors that deal with meta data, which may mean that Google can't read it and why SEOMoz is showing it as an error on our reports.

Here's a link to the validator on W3.org: http://validator.w3.org/ . Run your site through.
I haven't come across the ID tag for the head attributes yet, nor has W3.org.

The CMS might me miss-configured or has a bug!

Here's mine:
name="description" content="BLAH BLAH BLAH" />
Yours is different. But what really matters is if Google is picking yours up. If it's an easy change, then I would change the meta descriptions to follow industry standards.

Google cuts meta title after 60 characters and meta description after 130 characters. Is this new?
Hey community, We noticed, that our meta's are cutted after much lesser characters then it used to. Mainly after 130-135. Did i miss something? Should we basically consider to write meta's constantly with lesser then 130 characters instead of the advised 160 characters? Cheers, Boris

How to overcome blog page 1, 2, 3, etc having no or duplicate meta info?
As the above what is the best way to overcome having the same meta info on your blog pages (not blog posts) So if you have 25 blog posts per page once you exceed this number you then move onto a second blog page, then when you get to 50 you then move onto a 3rd blog page etc etc So if you have thousands f blog pages what is the best method to deal with this rather than having to write 100s of different meta titkes & descriptions? Cheers

Meta Title for large Metro Area landing page
Hello! I am creating "metro landing pages" for an organization that has a 10-18 locations per metro city. The landing page houses brief information about the organization as a whole and then it has the locations listed with links to their respective pages. My question is how to optimize these titles. My sample city is Atlanta, GA. This metro page includes 18 locations from the Atlanta area. Marietta, Sandy Springs, Decatur, etc... My question is what is the best Meta Title to use for a Metro Page like this? Would it be best to say Day Care in Metro Atlanta | ABC Childcare Company | Child Care Atlanta Area or is their a better way to optimize a large Metro landing page? I really appreciate any suggestions! Thanks!!!

SEOmoz tells me that I have too many links, however most of them are comments...
Is this affecting the overall ranking of the page? http://www.smileclinic.sk/zubne-implantaty/ (164) http://www.smileclinic.sk/zubne-korunky/ (179) If so how can I disallow them? We use Wordpress with the Joost SEO plugin, but I don't see a disallow option there for comments...

Discrepancy between SeoMoz vs Google Webmaster tools
SeoMoz reports over 70 4xx client server errors on my site, but Google Web Master Tools does not report any broken links. There are not any broken links on any of the pages that it is reporting. Could there be another reason for the 4xx errors besides broken links?

Complex navigation structure leaving me puzzled with Meta keywords! Would love some help...
Hi there So I have a main navigation, It includes 5 categories Each category contains 4-6 sub categories Within these sub categories, there are 6 - 10 sub sub categories Its a rather complex navigation but allows the end user to land exactly where they want without much mooching. Now my issue is the use of keywords. Should I be feeding the keywords used in the main category through to the sub category and the sub sub category as they are all linked or should I use unique keywords for each sub/sub/sub category? I have added an image of the nav layout so you can see how it works. I hope that makes sense? Could love some help! dHve8.jpg
