+1 for a .com.au domain name. Australians tend to feel more comfortable clicking on a .com.au extension, just as New Zealanders feel more comfortable with the .co.nz (and, no doubt, other countries prefer their "home" TLDs over a global .com)
Registering a .com.au domain name requires an ABN (Australian Business Number, which is a but like a registered company number in the UK.)
Also, hosting in Australia is going to be important. A lot of internet users experience latency issues with overseas sites, so from a user experience point of view it's worth keeping site design efficient and hosting it within AU.
I'm UK-born and living in Australia, and in terms of web design or any technical issues, there's no significant changes I can think of. Bear in mind that the spelling in this country is the same as the UK and not the USA (colour not color, lift not elevator.)

OK thanks for your help...

The australian top level domain is .com.au

Hi there,
Thanks for the answer.
Can you just explain to me what Australian top level domain means?
Thanks
-
No, there are no real specific web or tech issues between Australia and the UK, besides that you will want a Australian top level domain.
From an SEO point of view I would suggest hosting in Australia, using an Australian top level domain, and make sure you get links from other Australian sites.

Spam Links Attack, Negative SEO?
Last April we migrated our old domain www.nyc-officespace-leader.com to a new domain www.metro-manhattan.com. The old domain has been receiving numerous links from very spammy sites such as these: -adinternet.net/the_worlds_most_visited_web_pages_958.htm <colgroup><col width="263"></colgroup>

| www.webfind.org/the_worlds_most_visited_web_pages_958/ | Since the old domain redirects to our new domain we are concerned this could be very detrimental. Oddly enough the 50-100 spammy domains that link to us all are a site called: "http://theglobe.se/start/" when the linking domain is entered in the browser. What should we do? Should we disavow these links? Is this some kind of an attack? Would very much appreciate some input/advice. Thank,

Curious about quick SEO results showing up...
Recently, I did a couple of major SEO mods on our e-commerce site. Here's what I did: A. No-indexed hundreds of thousands of Search Results pages. B. Changed the URL structure for the better of our product pages. I literally made these changes about 3 weeks ago and I am seeing some very interesting results in such a short period of time. Here is one example. My product pages increased impressions by about 20% or so, but the real crazy thing is the increase in click through rate on my product pages. All of a sudden I am getting about a 95% clickthrough rate!??!?! Previously I was getting around 58%. Any ideas on this? Is it a normal fluctuation that goes away? Or can I expect it to stay or even improve? Thanks! Craig

Web Master Tools: change of address
Hello, Hope you can help with an issue I'm having:www.brand-kw1-kw2.com (eg name of course) has moved to www.brand.comAll settings are done - like I did before when moving and setting up a new domain for an older site. (30q redirects - all versions are verified in WMT).However, when the change of adress features is "called out" I get the message: "We couldn't verify www.brand-kw1-kw2.com To submit a change of address, www.brand-kw1-kw2.com must be verified using the same method as brand-kw1-kw2.com. Add www.brand-kw1-kw2.com to your account and verify ownership, then try again." So dose it basically saying that I have to use the same method to verify both the www and non-www version ? Dose it make sense ? It sounds silly. Again, all version are verified and visibile in WMT already - I don't know how in the past those verifications were done but everything is looking good now. Is here a fix for this issue ? (I've moved several but this is the first issue I've encountered) Many thanks.

How to best remove old pages for SEO
I run an accommodation web site, each listing has its own page. When a property is removed what is the best way to handle this for SEO because the URL will no longer be valid and there will be a blank page.

Seo template for new website
I am revamping my website (www.UltimateBasicTraining.com). It's going to be major and I am concerned about the potential traffic loss since over 60% of my overall traffic comes from organic search results in the military basic training area. Are there any good SEO website templates I can start from? I see a lot out there but would prefer the advice of professionals. Thanks

Switching Hosting & SEO
Hello friends, We are facing the prospect of switching to a new hosting account or company. We are currently using a third-party reseller account but are outgrowing that account. We are considering VPS and dedicated servers. However, this will mean updates for IPs and nameservers. Does anyone have experience with SEO consequences of making switch? Best practices? Tips? Obstacles? Any and all comments/advice welcome. We're trying to balance the potential SEO ramifications of making the switch with the consequences of reduced site speed.
