Yesterday our site had a page rank of 5, today not ranked.

All pages on our site as of today are showing current page is not ranked by google, we have been page rank 5 for about 4 years now, we still seem to be showing in google searches. Anyone have any ideas as to why?
-
Zack10 are you ranking on other terms still or is it just this kw?
-
Ignore PR for now...
The important question is; are you still ranking for your keyword terms? Has site visitors gone down today?
Looks like you need to put some of your effort into building some new (quality) links and making your link profile look much more natural.
Sometimes its easy to analyse what went wrong instead of moving forwards and getting back into a position of authority. Focus yourself and think of some ideas for link baiting aswell as creating some great content - get this on your own site as well as looking for relevant sites to host some articles for you (with links back obviously).

Best advice would be to clean up as much bad linking as you possibly can during the next 60 days, then submit a reconsideration request to Google, with as much detail as you can give about what you think you were doing wrong, and the steps you have taken to clean it up.
Hopefully your SERPs stay put, however, with the cleaup you've already been doing and will continue to do, you may well see rankings drop.. they could be propped up on some of this linking which has, as yet, sailed under the Peguin algorithm change radar.
The best way to combat this effect is to get some real quality linking underway, using the some of the content marketing strategies discussed in recent posts on the SEOmoz blogs and elsewhere in the wider SEO community too. It's time for us all to do the things we know we should've been doing all along!
This YouMoz post about content marketing by Toby Murdock from a couple of days ago is a great place to start.

Hi, yes we have been removing bad links for about 3 months now, but seems strange to go from a pr5 to not ranked in 1 day, do you think this is fixable?
-
You lost a whole lot of low quality backlinks through Feb and March, Panda related I assume.
Appears you lost a PR5 sitewide (paid link?) this month too.
You also appear to have a whole lot of exact match footer links on completely unrelated sites, possibly the result of a template sponsorship scheme? A potential banana skin for paid link penalties and/or Penguin.
Your anchor text profile as a whole is a pretty unnatural..
820 links from 273 domains - wholesale
503 links from 156 domains - wholesale clothing
118 links from 94 domains - ebay
...then a bunch more.. then way down..
85 links from 22 domains - http://www.wholesaleclearance.co.uk/
10 links from 9 domains - wholesale clearance
It's probably more likely to be the paid link stuff that's resulted in the loss of toolbar pagerank, but that's a guess. Just wanted to highlight a few key parts of your backlink profile.

Panda 4.1 - Regained rankings by making changes on my site
So thought I would share this with others as it 'might' help. So I got around 40 pages, all of them have taken a dive in rankings so on average from Pg1/2 to Pg5/6. I took one page and started working on content upgrades, I had around 50 words of boiler plate content above the fold and 750 words of unique content way down the page so maybe 600px below the fold before you hit it. I removed the boiler plate content and produced 75 words of unique content to replace it, I shuffled things around and managed to get the 750 words maybe 250px below the fold then chucked another 100 unique words into the mix. Fetched the page in GWMT's and resubmitted the URL - hour later that page alone, the page I upgraded had recovered its rankings back to the original position before Panda 4.1 hit. Will the rankings for this page drop back down again, not sure but interesting this page was Pg6/7 since the 23rd and doing the above within an hour regained rankings back to Pg2 middle.

Is there any decent web browser that still displays the full page title at the top of the page?
I just updated to the latest version of Firefox on my Mac and saw that they now hide most of the page title in the browser tab, like Chrome and Safari. I like to be able to see the full page title at all times (for reasons I'm sure you all understand) and that's pretty much the only reason I stuck with Firefox all these years. Now I'm looking for an alternative – any suggestions?

Will Google Custom Search results on my home page kill it's ranking?
This is probably a dumb question, but here goes anyway. 🙂 On a site I have it would be very useful to the reader to offer a search box that uses a Google Custom Search that I have optimized to search websites that are closely on-topic with my site. I know it sounds bad that I would send people to other sites, but just assume that the reasons are valid for this discussion. My question is, if the search results are set to display on the same page (the home page) as the search box, will the links in the search results to external sites just bleed my page rank to death? I assume it would, but thought I'd check just in case I'm missing something. I have to option to place the results on separate page of my site, and noindex it, but it won't be as powerful as it would be on the home page.

View all Page for Product Overview Pages
Hi everybody! We have an ecommerce site with product overview pages, where sometimes there are hundreds of products listed. Usually, we just display 30 and have a button where users can click to see 30 more - or all products listed at once. This is the overview page (as indexed in google): http://www.geschenkidee.ch/aussergewoehnliches.html

And this is the view-all page: http://www.geschenkidee.ch/aussergewoehnliches.html#all What should I do here? The product overview page will hardly generate more traffic by listing all products (because the overview page will rank for generic keywords, while the product keyword searches will be referred to the specific product pages themselves). I was originally thinking of using rel=canonical pointing to the view-all page. But this would just lead to longer load time. Should we just leave those overview pages or is there a best practice for how to deal with such pages? Thanks for your thoughts on this!0 -
Home Page
We are re-design our home page, one are of the current home page has a drop down window called "popular products" . We wrote short articles for our keywords and have them linked to product page. In the past, it has helped us rank. However, with new Google rules, our feeling is that such practice is no good. So, we lean towards to remove it. Still, we'd like to hear some opinions and ask some questions too: www.butterflycraze.com is it clear to you that this is not good in Google's eyes? how do I determine if these links serving any SEO purpose now after Panda? depend on the answer to 2), what should we do about these pages? shall be re-direct or shall we remove them from Google index?

Duplicate Page Content and Duplicate Page Title
Hi All, I'm new in SEOMoz and have some questions after I have already spend 2-3 days trying to resolve the problems identified from Crawling one of my clients websites. I get quite a lot of Duplicate Page Conntent and Page Titles warnings and trying to find a workaround through the forums and posts. I continuously get this error on most of my pages: URL: http://domain.com/benefits with the same Page but with a WWW in front URL: http://www.domain.com/benefits Any advice will be highly appreciated. Thanks, Athos

How could I avoid the "Duplicate Page Content" issue on the search result pages of a webshop site?
My webshop site was just crawled by Roger, and it found 683 "Duplicate Page Content" issues. Most of them are result pages of different product searches, that are not really identical, but very similar to each other. Do I have to worry about this? If yes, how could I make the search result pages different? IS there any solution for this? Thanks: Zoltan
