Anchor text in Ecommerce site without relevant pages
-
I'm posting articles to my e-commerce site and just wondering about the anchor text links within the posts.
I don't have relevant static pages but the items do come up in a search query.
For example i don't have a specific page for red wine but if a user searched for red wine it would give a search query URL.
Should I use that search URL query as my anchor text?

Hi,
I'm not sure I understand correctly but i'f you write a post about red wine and you put a link in it as follows:
I don't see anyting wrong with that. You do need to make sure that google will be able to crawl these search pages, otherwise it will be useless. (that basically means that the page should be generated server-side, so no javascript and ajax and such).
In an ideal situation you might want to consider creating a few static pages for your top keywords if you want to rank for them. In my experience a nice clean URL is quite an important ranking factor.
i.e. yoursite.com/top-searches/red-wine.html instead of yoursite.com/search.html?query=red+wine
Btw, beware of duplicate content if you are going to index search result pages! e.g. resultsfor the queryies redwine, red+wine, wine, and white+wine might be very similar, but have different url's!
Good luck!

Hello,
I would recommend the article you post/write about, should only link to 'relevant' pages within your site. That defies the purpose of the linking to another page, since the main purpose is to provide and link to relevant content. You most likely won't find any benefits in ranking in the SERPS and probably will be punished by the G for keyword/link spamming.
In regards to the search queries, you mentioned that you don't have a specific page for 'red wine' but I assume on the page/post there is a specific keyword mentioning 'red wine'? When someone searches 'red wine' they are expecting information about that and if it isn't they will leave. Most likely your bounce rate will be high and you will lose this visitor because they can't get the content they're searching for.
Also, I think the url and title of the page/article should be named what the article is about and not just because of a popular search term. Yes, if your article is about red wines, then having the key phrase would be ideal but if the article is about 'soft drinks' and 'red wine' isn't the main topic your discussing then red wine shouldn't be included in the title.
Hope this helps!

Do you need to include the top menu on every single page of the site in the code?
When using cache: on google, and clicking on Text-only version, our site has the top menu gibberish on top? My feeling is that this take away SEO juice from our title and focus keyword. Our website is culinarydepotinc.com

Positioning H1 and H2 tags adjacent on a page without content in between
Is it best practice to separate H1 and H2 tags with P tag or other content, or is it ok to have H1 and H2 adjacent without content in between?

Site wide content like "why choose us" just above the footer on every single page
Hi Guys, I know that is not good having any kind of duplicate content on your site, but SEO is above all "competition", so I have to see what my competitor are doing to find the best way to outrank them. So this is my question: is it good or not having site wide content like "why choose us" just above the footer on every single page? At the moment, I can see many - too many - of my client competitors having the "Why choose us" as site wide content above the footer. The funny thing they don't use a couple of sentences, they have placed many words and 10/20 internal links, in other words, they have enough stuff to put down a stand alone page. What do you think: this is just a bad SEO practice or it may work, as I can see so many sites ranking well with this kind of piece of junk on each page. I am not going to recommend this to my client, but as am trying to detail every decision I make showing what the competitors are currently doing, my concern is that my client finds it and therefore will ask to have the same shiny piece of garbage above the footer. Thanks, Pierpaolo

Is it better to have an hreflang go to the home page in a different language if there's no corresponding page
If I have some pages in English, but not in Spanish on my website: Should my hreflang go to the home page on the Spanish site? Or should I not have an "es-MX" hreflang for that page? Ideally I would have all the pages translated, but this has not all been done yet.

Dynamic pages on a static html pages websiite
Good evening everybody. I am new on SeoMoz that I find very helpful in my work. I am not a web developer so please excuse me if my technical language is poor.I have an issue that maybe you can help me to solve. I work for a company who has a website, which is old and very well positioned on google for the most important keywords for the field of the company I work for (dentistry). It is a website made some years ago and it's made of static html pages.I would like to add a section in my website where I can post articles, like a blog (I think of a wordpress-style website) with daily posts (so with a dynamic page). Is there a way to do this without modifying the structure of the website and without losing pages, urls and ranking? We're on the first google page for many keywords of interests in our city and it would be a great damage for us to lose those positions.Thank you very much!

Anchor text on outbound links on a blog, relevancy detrimental or positive?
We have a blog related to computer support, and we have been using guest posts and promotion of those posts to boost freshness and rankings of the blog. We have been restricting outbound links to prevent words such as 'computer repair, 'computer support' etc, because we were under the impression that if we want to rank for those words, we should only allow INCOMING links with that anchor text, and that outbound links from the page, would rob the other parts of the site of the link juice this page provides. My question is, is this wrong? Should I freely allow outbound links on my blog page that contain anchor text that I my self am trying to rank for? Or was I correct initially? Current the anchor text is in 'related' industries, such as mobile apps, technology news, etc...things that google might think are 'related', but not exactly what the site is about.

Page without content
Hey Everyone, I've started an SEO On Page analysis for a web site and I've found a lot of duplicate content and useless pages. What do I have to do? Delete this useless page, redirect or do canonical tag? If I have to delete what is the best way to do? Should I use GWT to delete? or just delete from the server? This URL for example: http://www.sexshopone.com.br/?1.2.44.0,0,1,13,0,0,aneis-evolved-boss-cock's.html [admin note: NSFW page} There is no content and it is duplicate in reference of this: http://www.sexshopone.com.br/?1.2.44.0,0,1,12,0,0,aneis-evolved-boss-cock's.html [admin note: NSFW page} and the correct page of the product is: http://www.sexshopone.com.br/?1.2.44.0,423,anel-peniano-evolved-boss-cock's-pleasure-rings-collar-white-reutilizavel-e-a-prova-d'agua-colecao-evolved.html [admin note: NSFW page} What is happening is that we have 8.000 pages like this. Useless and without any content. How do I proceed? Thanks!
