Which domain name should i choose for a air ticket search engine?
-
Hi,
i am deciding to buy a domain name for a air ticket search engine.
i want to target australia first and then worldwide in the future.
most of the names with my keywords "cheap flights" are already been registered.
I have tried many combination but could not find a proper name.
One question is does keywords rich domains (not exact) helps a lot?
also i was thinking if i can an keyword rich domain i could easily get links with the desired anchor text links.
would it be a lot harder to get a domain name e.g. flightscomparision.com while targeting the term "cheap flights" or "cheap fares".
Also i was thinking if i get a domain with "A" at the beginning i will be listed on top of directories.
below are a list of domains i am able to register.
any other suggestions?
thanks
ray

thank you for your reply.
do you think i am 15 years too late as google is acquiring ITA.

There are well documented advantages of keyword matched domain names and although there is talk of the advantage being diminished I would be suprised if it lost all of its advantage. As is mentioned on other responses the keyword matched domain isn't as brandable and doesn't sound as interesting.
If the site is going to be accompanied my marketing via other channels, TV, Radio, Magazines etc then a branded domain name may work better. If its traffic is to be driven purely from its performance in search engines then the keyword domain may be the route to take.
Isn't flightscomparison.com already taken? Also listing the exact domains you are considering may not be the best bet as an unscrupulous individual could register them all before you knowing you were interested and try and sell them back to you.
-
I think I would have to disagree. AUCheapFlights.com is not as brandable as FlightsComparison.com. That would be my choice.
-
I always agree with domains with keywords in them for sure.
-
I agree, this type of site will benefit from brandability.
It's definitely nice to get keywords in your domain. This will give some sort of an SEO boost, but also tell your users right off the bat something about your site. I think for a site like this you are gonna need to do more than just strict SEO (social media, facebook, etc) and a branded domain will be very beneficial in that sense.
-
I think you should pick a name you can brand that has some of your keyword in it -my suggestions below
-
I'd say that I'd have to disagree with, "No point registering keyword rich domain unless it's a short lived affair."
Why is that? I completely disagree. Most of my successful websites all are based around keywords, and I've had them for years...
-
I support the brandable domain option. No point registering keyword rich domain unless it's a short lived affair.

Hi, Ray,
Typically, directories don't often sort by alphabetical order; they allow the user to choose how they view the results, or, they sort by showing the paid listings first.
With that said, here's what I usually look like when starting a new project & choosing a domain:
- Is the domain name brand-able?
- Can I have keywords in the domain?
- Do I have the option of buying a domain with a high Page Rank?
Right now, having keywords in your domain is a pretty significant factor, but there have been rumors of Google changing it's algorithm to put less weight on the keywords in domain.
If I was in your shoes, I think I'd go with "AUCheapFlights.com" just because it's brand-able & it has keywords.
I hope this helped!

Two companies merging into a new website. How to merge two existing websites into a brand new website and preserve search rankings.
Brand A and Brand B are merging to form Brand C. Brand A has a great search presence (prominent rankings, answer boxes, and impressive organic traffic). Brand B has a good reputation in real life but their web presence was extremely weak (we've been helping with that over the past few months and it is improving). What are the steps we need to take? The previous domains from Brand A and Brand B are going away and we need to promote the newly minted Brand C website. This Q/A summarizes what we want to do but with one exception: They only discuss merging Brand A into BRand B and there is no Brand C.

How to get an Updated Logo in Search Results?
I'm having trouble getting a new logo in search results. My company, RealSelf, updated our logo over a year ago and both Google and Bing continue to show our old logo in image results. Worst of all, this means that when people look for our logo, they find the wrong one and include that in new, external content. Here's a list of what we've tried: We've modified all the logos on our site with the new one (not including a few PDF whitepapers from before the redesign Added schema.org logo and organization markup Featured a high resolution image on our "Logos" page (top result for "RealSelf logo") Verified wikipedia has the proper image Modified all social profile logos: Twitter, Facebook, G+, etc.. Begun outreach efforts to have high ranking image results update our logo I'm wondering if there are other ideas besides getting more creative/successful with our outreach tactics?

Domain authority vs indexed pages
Hello, There are many articles and from our personal experience we can say that you can rank a page without backlinks with high DA but we cant figure out if DA of domain help to rank as the link juice ( so the link juice going from home page thru all pages to specific page) or it will rank a page even if its not linked in any way from homepage or any other pages and even if it not linked in any way from other pages and still ranks just because of high DA, does that DA value will spread even above all indexed pages if you have lets say 100,000 pages, i mean if domain has 100 indexed pages and DA of 50 and another domain has 100,000 and DA of 100, if both pages are the same on those domains and have no backlinks to it from my understanding page on domain with 100 indexed pages and DA of 50 suppose to rank higher ? Please share what you think

Where Does Google Pull the Photo From When You Search For Your Brand?
Hi All, In doing a search for our brand from our corporate HQ (Learning Tree), I came across a large embedded "ad" so to speak on the right hand side front and center of one of our locations (see attached photo). Clearly this is from Google's Knowledge Graph. We aren't pleased with the photo of a computer screen pulling randomly from our website...we are OK with the map listing though. Anyway to change this? As a note, when you search for "Learning Tree International" (our more official name as the entity as a whole - we have many locations around the world, and also one near our corporate HQ, which is the one that's displaying when you search "Learning Tree" alone), much better imagery of our logo is displayed. That's coming from our corporate G+ page. Any suggestions? Thank you. s0C5ZpT&hXaLhE7 s0C5ZpT&hXaLhE7#1

International domain query
my client is a financial services company with some ccTLDs for brand name but does not own the .com eg: brandname.ch, brandname.ro etc we need to launch a brand UK site plus a global site. should we go for another name on the .com: brandname_financial.com_, and: brandname_financial.ch_, brandname_financial.ro_ etc or could we go for instead brandname.uk.com and brandname.eu.com? i'm worried the owner of brandname.com will build a site and out rank us.....however the alternative is a longer url but owning the .com hope that makes sense and any advice would be gladly received! Many thanks

Two domains for different countries? or one big domain with folders?
I know this might sound as a newbie question or maybe not, here it goes. I've had a client for the past 2 years, and we have accomplish many good things for his local website .com.ve (venezuela). It's been so good that he is opening a branch in Dominican republic .com.do. The content, strategy and even the services are exactly the same, but the owner wants to have different site for each country. Of course he only wants to pay for one domain. I do want to share our success ont the .com.ve with the other domains and he actually owns the "global" domain .com with his brand name. So, what should I reccomend... Develop a second site and start from scratch? Migrate my blog from the .com.ve site to the .com site and give each country a separate folder? /ve /do?. What it's the best scenario for me to have all the traffic we have earned transfer to the global brand and to have separate info for each country... Thank you so much for your answer that I kno would be great. Dan

Can we publish two guest posts on one domain with same pen name but different linking website?
Can we publish two guest posts on one domain with same pen name but different linking website? Actually I have been doing guest posts with pen name “Jane Andrew” for “abc.com”(bit old and well performing website). Now I need to post for a new website “xyz.com” on some old domains (where I have already published my articles) so the situation is that I want domains and pen name to remain same but linking website would be different. I had few questions in my mind regarding that and I would be grateful if you help me getting the required information. Is it right from SEO, branding and marketing point of view? How Google interprets this? Is there any harm for the old well performing website or for the new one? And also both websites are owned and managed by the same owner.
