How to free articles sites work when they offer duplictae articles
-
Hi, i am trying to work out how these free article sites work. They allow people to put on their articles on their sites but these articles are on loads of different sites which means they are all duplicate content. I am finding it hard how google puts up with this and how the sites still continue to rank high in google when all their site is duplicate content.
Can anyone please explain this to me.

Sometimes they rank well simply because they have been around for a very long time. Other times it's because they have many links pointing to them from various sources. Sometimes it can be simply that Google hasn't caught on to them yet but there days might be numbered.
Remember Panda only impacted around 12% as per Wikipedia. And Penguin impacted even less. So this means that either every other site is using only white hat tactics or they have flown under the radar for now but Google is always making adjustments.

hi, we do not use these sites it was just a question as i was researching a topic today and it came up in google an article i was looking for to read and then i had a look at the site and just thought how on earth can these sites rank well in google when it is all duplicate content.

These free article sites won't help you. They generate revenue through ads and other ways. The problem is Google will see that your content is exactly the same as another site and might decide that your site is not providing unique value to the visitor.
I would not use articles from these sites. Instead I would enlist Bloggers in your niche to write a guest post onto your site.
Or hire a content writer to write unique articles for you.
Hope this helps, good luck

Would it be smart to have 2 different blogs on our site?
I run Wick Video - where we make animated videos for businesses. We are toying around with making blog/video content geared toward marketers, _and _creating blogs/tutorials geared toward designers and animators. Since it's two totally different groups, we've had the idea of making two separate blogs. Is that a good idea? Any websites currently doing this well?

Duplicate content - 6 websites, 1 IP. Is the #1 site knocked down too?
Yes I know, running multiple websites on 1 IP isn't smart. 6 Websites with duplicate content on 1 IP is even worse. It's a technical issue we can't solve quickly. Thing is, our #1 website, which has the highest DA and PR, was the first website with all this content. All other websites we're running were launched a few months, and some a few years, later. All content was copied from the #1 website. I'd say the other websites would get knocked down by Google, because they duplicated the content. Google should see that our #1 website was the first that uploaded this content. Therefore our #1 website should rank normally. Questions is: What does Google think of duplicate content when all websites are on 1 IP? Is, or will our #1 website get punished as well?

Press Releases and Duplicate Content on Event Related Site
I have a site that lists events. I ask those submitting events to submit original content if possible, but frequently they submit press releases which are already published elsewhere. I rewrite some of the press releases, but do not have time to rewrite every press release that comes my way. I want my users to get a comprehensive list of events, but I don't want get a penalty for duplicate content. What is the best solution?
