How do can I compete with 60-80 Domain Authority?
-
As the title says, how can I compete with competitors that have a domain authority of 60-80? (Only around 2-3 major competitors) However I would like to compete with them.
Is anyone else in this situation? What did you do? I've read a lot about building backlinks etc etc but surely theres more to it.
I've got to rank 1500+ subcategories for my niche and it's nearly impossible to do so.
Thanks to all who reply!

It's certainly possible. I've some sites where the DA is nearly double that of anyone else in the category but they're barely on the first page. The thing to remember about the SEOMoz numbers is that they are a diagnostic, but not based on anything 'real' when it comes to what Google is going to do. This means that you shouldn't treat them as an end all be all indicator of what's possible with a web site or not. I've since deleted the campaign but I remember one case where the site I was working on had a DA of 65 and the number 1 result had a DA of 15.

From your question you mentioned 2 or 3 competitors which means that you should still be able to achieve a first page position for the keywords you're targeting but perhaps not the top 3. In that case it comes down not only to optimization and link building; Is your site as useful as theirs?
A question I very rarely hear people asking in the SEO field is "I want to compete with someone for certain keywords, but is my business worth being ahead of the competition at this point?"
As well as content might be written, the moment you enter the e-commerce side of SEO the prices, delivery model/costs company reputation etc come into play a lot more than in the service industry. Especially if the product you're selling is the same one your competitor is selling. How many different ways can you describe a product?
My point here is the better the business model you are following the more likely people are to use your site than your competitors and in time you'll beat them in the SERPs. You should still put effort into generating content and building links but it will be easier if user experience on your site outclasses that of your competitors.
Hope this helped

Let's back up here.
You have a direct competitor with 60ish DA. Is that competitor a direct competitor (like Oreck and Bissel) or an indirect competitor (Bob's TVs vs Sears)?

Migrating educational resources for a SaaS product to an existing domain?
Odd situation I'm hoping some folks may have insight on. We have a product site and an educational site (two entirely separate domains). The educational site has: Existed for longer (24 years vs 13). Currently ranks for far more keywords and drives more traffic. Is an entirely separate brand from the product. Has historically driven sales to the product site (through email and onsite ads) but that channel has diminished over time. The product site Also has educational resources Is a more recognizable brand When prioritized resources here often drive far more revenue The Challenge

Both sites cover very similar topics, making prioritization challenging and splits our topical focus. We are considering making the educational site our sole place for resources, migrating content from the product site, and rebranding the site to line up more closely with the product. Basically retain the domain, make it our sole focus for updates and new content, but align it with the strength of our more recognizable product. The Questions Does anyone have any experience with this type of rebrand where a separate domain is retained? Are we risking the loss of branded search queries in the process or some other risk? While potentially risking ranking/traffic loss would it make more sense to migrate all valuable content to the product site instead? Sorry for the long-winded questions here and appreciate any thoughts/ideas!0 -
Can we use Youtube Videos of google webmaster on blog post?
Is it okay to embed YouTube videos of channel which we don't own? For example, I have written a blog on enabling event search in Google Analytics and Google Webmasters YouTube channel has a video based on those steps. I am looking to add that video in my blog.

Branded Domain Names - Keep or Sell?
Hey guys! My company is sitting on a number of branded domains to ensure we have control over the URL in case we ever want to do anything with them and/or to protect brand integrity. However, we are sitting on a total of 24 domains, which seems somewhat excessive. What are you thoughts about .info and .net domains? Or keeping branded domains in general? Is there a good rule of thumb to follow? We have a few up for renewal soon, so it'd be terrific to get your thoughts! Thanks much, Clarissa

Auto Complete misspells our brand. Can we do anything about it?
Howdy! Let's say our French client's name is "Something Réseau". When we type in "Something" in Google, we're suggested "Something Réso" which sounds the same but is incorrect. In the past year, the correct name has sent +21,000 branded keywords visits, whereas the incorrect has sent shy of 800. The brand is not new. Anything we can do about it? Thanks!

Moving to new domain - Social and Branding Questions?
Hi, We are moving to a new domain because our rankings drastically dropped and we want to "start over". For example - If my company is called Joes Computers and the domain was JoesComputers.com and the new domain which will hold our e-commerce website will be completely different for example - BestComputers.com - which do I brand? Which do I put as suffix in all titles?
Branding | | BeytzNet
COOL TITLE FOR PRODUCTS | Best Computers
or
COOL TITLE FOR PRODUCTS | Joes Computers Which name do I take for social profiles? Company or Domain?
(We currently have for the company since it was the same). Please note that our company name is already a little bit known... and therefore inside the website it will be labeled in Logos etc. We would also state "Best Computers by Joes Computers" (as if it is a sub brand or daughter company). Domain Name Value?
Hi, I am going to start a new website What I want to know is: www. keyword1 and keyword2 . com If I buy www. keyword1and . com And I put /keyword2 will this get any value? Or is it better to find a shorter more branded domain name.. rather than chasing for value from Google.
