Duplicate content penalisation?
-
Hi
We are pulling in content snippets from our product blog to our category listing pages on our ecommerce site to provide fresh, relevant content which is working really well.
What I am wondering is if we are going to get penalised for dupicate content as both our our blog and ecommerce site are on the same ip address? If so would moving the blog to a separate server and / or a separate domain name be a wise move?
Thanks very much

Hey
Duplicate content is duplicate content whether that is pages on the same site, different sites, different IP's, different C blocks etc.
As long as these 'snippets' are not the main page content then having a duplicate bit of text between the blog and the product page should not be a major issue.
Point to take away here is that lots of sites use duplicate product descriptions etc, it is better if they are unique, but it will not generate a penalty if it is not the main page content.
Go unique if you can but ultimately do what is best for your users.
Hope that helps.

Landing page redirect along with complete content
Hi Moz community, We have a page with "keyword" we are targeting in slug like website.com/keyword/. This page doesn't have much back-links or visits like homepage. So we decided to redirect homepage to /keyword page along with complete content. Will this going to hurt? Only change anybody can notice is URL. Are there any risks involved. I think this is the best way to highlight the page we been thinking about. Thanks

How to content marketing: Should my blog posts link to my sales page?
Hi, I've been doing a weekly blog making sure that each blog post contains my money keywords in the text, sometimes in h2 tags etc. My blog posts never contain any links to my actual sales page. Should I link each blog post to my sale page or is it overdoing it? Will internal linking of all my blog posts to my sales page will improve its page authority or have any SEO benefits? What about using exact match anchor text on these internal links? I couldn't find any resource online about this matter. Thank you for your opinion and help! -Marc

Does adding lots of new content on a site at one time actually hurt you?
When speaking with a client today, he made the comment that he didn't want all of the new content we'd been working to be added to the site all at once for fear that he would get penalized for flooding the site with new content. I don't have any strong data to confirm or refute the claim, is there any truth to it?

Can you be both penalised and uplifted in SERPS?
hello everyone, We've literally had dozens of high ranking pages which are location specific, wiped out of the Google.co.uk SERPs. Can't imagine that it is anything other than a manual penalty but no message has been sent by Google. For example "campervan hire surrey" would produce our surrey page at the top of the SERP, now this page has completely disappeared. On the other hand, we have been promoted on national keywords like "vw campervan hire" and "campervan hire" where we are second and third. Does anyone agree that this is a penalty?
