Website disappeared from Google organic keyword searches.
-
We have an auto repair company as a client www.autorepairauroratilden.com who for the better part of a year their website had ruled the 1st page organic Google search results. Their website, Blogs, Facebook, and Twitter all came up on page one for their keyword searches. On May 13th, it all came to a screeching halt. The website is nowhere to be found for any of their keywords (example: brake repair Aurora.) There are a couple of blogs on page 2 but it’s nothing like it was prior to May 13th.
On May 12th we published 5 branded websites for this client – Chrysler, Ford, Honda, Jeep, and Toyota, all on separate URL’s. All the page titles, keywords, and descriptions were specifically branded to the individual websites as were all the keywords.
Since the beginning of June we’ve taken down the 5 branded websites and we’ve gone through our keywords on the auto repair website. The website was last crawled on June 11th. We still do not have any page 1 placement or for that matter any page placement. I checked 10 pages out.
We have a 2nd auto repair client that has been running their website as well as their 5 branded websites a couple of months longer than this client and we’ve had no problems with any of their websites and keyword search results.
How do we fix this?
-
Thanks Brett - we'll do that
-
Run a detailed Linkdetective scan and start contacting each blog.
-
Is there anything that can be done to flush those links out?
-
Those are the types of links Penguin is going after.
If this is the case, then I would just focus on building higher quality links, and focus on the local markets.
Ahrefs.com has some good insights http://ahrefs.com/site-explorer/overview/subdomains/www.autorepairauroratilden.com
And I would use http://www.linkdetective.com/ to really analyze your links.
-
Brent,
Thank you very much for your insight and time. I ran the the site explorer link tool for this site and I'm seeing links where other bloggers are just re-posting blog articles we've done on behalf of our client and leaving the links in tact, http://www.konuyeri.com/2011/12/Auto-Repair-in-Aurora-Colorado/ , I'm not sure why or what benefit these links provide them but I could sure see that they could be a negative factor when Penguin's out there looking for spammy links. Your thoughts?
-
Did you receive a message or a warning from Google in Google Webmaster Tools?
-
Looks like you have a lot of bad inbound links from irrelevant websites.
I would start by examining all of your inbound links and the PA/DA and relevance of these sites.
-
No straight answer but looks like you were hit by Penguin.
Are there any problems in Google Webmaster Tools? How about Bing and Yahoo?

Home Pages of Several Websites are disappearing / reappearing in Google Index
Hi, I periodically use the Google site command to confirm that our client's websites are fully indexed. Over the past few months I have noticed a very strange phenomenon which is happening for a small subset of our client's websites... basically the home page keeps disappearing and reappearing in the Google index every few days. This is isolated to a few of our client's websites and I have also noticed that it is happening for some of our client's competitor's websites (over which we have absolutely no control). In the past I have been led to believe that the absence of the home page in the index could imply a penalty of some sort. This does not seem to be the case since these sites continue to rank the same in various Google searches regardless of whether or not the home page is listed in the index. Below are some examples of sites of our clients where the home page is currently not indexed - although they may be indexed by the time you read this and try it yourself. Note that most of our clients are in Canada. My questions are: 1. has anyone else experienced/noticed this? 2. any thoughts on whether this could imply some sort of penalty? or could it just be a bug in Google? 3. does Google offer a way to report stuff like this? Note that we have been building websites for over 10 years so we have long been aware of issues like www vs. non-www, canonicalization, and meta content="noindex" (been there done that in 2005). I could be wrong but I do not believe that the site would keep disappearing and reappearing if something like this was the issue. Please feel free to scrutinize the home pages to see if I have overlooked something obvious - I AM getting old. site:dietrichlaw.ca - this site has continually ranked in the top 3 for [kitchener personal injury lawyers] for many years. site:burntucker.com - since we took over this site last year it has moved up to page 1 for [ottawa personal injury lawyers] site:bolandhowe.com - #1 for [aurora personal injury lawyers] site:imranlaw.ca - continually ranked in the top 3 for [mississauga immigration lawyers]. site:canadaenergy.ca - ranks #3 for [ontario hydro plans] Thanks in advance! Google Crawling Issues! How Can I Get Google to Crawl My Website Regularly?
Hi Everyone! My website is not being crawled regularly by Google - there are weeks when it's regular but for the past month or so it does not get crawled for seven to eight days. There are some specific pages, that I want to get ranked but they of late are not being crawled AT ALL unless I use the 'Fetch As Google' tool! That's not normal, right? I have checked and re-checked the on-page metrics for these pages (and the website as a whole, backlinking is a regular and ongoing process as well! Sitemap is in place too! Resubmitted it once too! This issue is detrimental to website traffic and rankings! Would really appreciate insights from you guys! Thanks a lot!

Keyword cannibalisation
We created a product blog page that was highly optimized for SEO based on a recommendation from a colleague. These are now our best performing pages - however they do not convert as highly as the bona-fide product pages. After further investigation we're concerend that we shouldn't have split our content accross two pages - keyword cannibalisation. Is this correct and should we 301 our product blog pages to the other high converting pages?

Will Google Continue to Index the Page with NoIndex Tag Upon Google +1 Button Impression or Click?
The FAQs for Google +1 button suggests as follows: "+1 is a public action, so you should add the button only to public, crawlable pages on your site. Once you add the button, Google may crawl or recrawl the page, and store the page title and other content, in response to a +1 button impression or click." If my page has NoIndex tag, while at the same time inserted with Google +1 button on the page, will Google recognise the NoIndex Tag on the page (and will not index the page) despite the +1 button's impression or clicks send signals to Google spiders?

Search Engine Blocked by Robot Txt warnings for Filter Search result pages--Why?
Hi, We're getting 'Yellow' Search Engine Blocked by Robot Txt warnings for URLS that are in effect product search filter result pages (see link below) on our Magento ecommerce shop. Our Robot txt file to my mind is correctly set up i.e. we would not want Google to index these pages. So why does SeoMoz flag this type of page as a warning? Is there any implication for our ranking? Is there anything we need to do about this? Thanks. Here is an example url that SEOMOZ thinks that the search engines can't see. http://www.site.com/audio-books/audio-books-in-english?audiobook_genre=132 Below are the current entries for the robot.txt file.
