Blog Categories
-
I am working on redoing my blog and there are many posts that fit into two categories. Should I keep them in only one? or place them in both?
For example-
Category 1 - Gucci
Category 2 - Shirts
Should a post about "Gucci shirts" go in both places or only the "Gucci" category and the "shirts" category would then only include posts about my more minor brands.
Thanks!

As Saijo has answered here, it is perfectly fine to have the same posts in multiple categories. It will be useful to define how you want your site architecture/ hierarchy of categories beforehand, for example, whether you want to place the brand at a higher level than the product type or vice versa, or for that matter keep both of them at the same level. This really depends on how you are positioning the site.

Perhaps you can add one as a subcategory . If you cater for shirts from many brands you could have
Shirts >> Gucci
If you offer various Gucci Products You could have
Gucci >> Shirts
Its also perfectly fine to have both of them as main categories as long as they don't both offer the exact same content .. eg: you only show 10 items on a page and you have 10 shirts all of them Gucci then it could be seen as a duplicate page

Moving from Blogspot to blog hosted on our domain
Hi there, I work for a furniture retailer in the UK and I have a question about moving our blog. We have had a blog at www.ourcompany.blogspot.co.uk since 2012 and it was last updated mid 2014. There are about 100 posts and the content is actually really good, not spammy in any way and not stuffed with links to our site. The content is essentially guides to buying the right furniture. We have now launched blog functionaility on our website at www.ourcompany.co.uk/blog as I feel this is a better long-term solution to increasing site traffic and page rank. I want to pick your brains on the best way to handle the old content. A: Copy all the Blogspot content across and back date it to the same date it was originally published and then delete the old Blogspot account? Or will Google see this as duplicate content. B: Backup all the Blogspot content now, delete the Blogspot account and then repost this content at a later date? Will this still be seen as duplicate content? 😄 something else. Thanks for reading.

Do I really need a "Blog"?
Hello Moz community, I have a question about creating content on a new website that we just launched. Do we really need an area called a "Blog"? It's a financial website and the network admins have some security concerns about placing a blogging application such as Wordpress on the server because of PCI regulations. Can an area such as one called "Resources" where you list articles or posts be just as effective as a "blog"?

Is this good Blog SEO Exposure Practice?
When I create a new blog post for my site www.piolettilaw.com/blog in an effort to make sure it is seen by the most people the quickest I do the following: (1) link it to my google+ account https://plus.google.com/b/115145499443620475217/+PiolettiPiolettiAttorneysatLawEureka/posts (2) I then link it in virtually the same way on facebook (3) I ping it my blog directory piolettilaw.com/blog using ping-o-matic Is that a pretty good gameplan to follow when making new blog posts? Any thoughts, comments, or suggestions would be very welcomed. Thanks in advance, Joe

How long should a quality blog post be?
How long should a "quality" blog post be? General advice seems to be that a 300 word post just won't cut it, but advice on the optimum length is vague. I appreciate that all posts are different but is there a rule of thumb, is 1000 words good and 1500 too long...or should they are all aim to be 2000 words? Also with regards to pictures in blogs, can they just be taken from the web or are there sites that I should be using to source the pictures? Thanks
