Hi Jorenr,
One last thing: this will help you increase your CTR:

http://searchenginewatch.com/article/2049695/Top-Google-Result-Gets-36.4-of-Clicks-Study
I've tested it and it doubled my CTR.

-
Thats the problem Malcolm ! Meta description wasnt relevant at all. I ve changed it , looking to get result now. Thanks for the advice!!! Much appreciated !
-
I am in position #2 but there are 3 google ads before me. So I am in position 5. And the other sites are all relevant , similar business. So I am sure its a right keyword.
''''''compare your meta description to the number 1. People might just be looking at you and thinking you are providing somethign else.''''''
This is the problem ! I ve changed the description. Hope to get some result !
Thanks for the advice !
-

So people see it but dont click it . And I ve realized that my meta descrpition is not looking relavant. Even I dont click Changed it today. Hope to get some clicks!

Yes the keyword is only for London/UK. I will do your recommendations. Thanks for the advice !

We recently rewrote all of our meta descriptions and noticed on avg a 20% jump in conversions. Remember - great meta tags and page titles will dramatically increase CTR from SERPs. I recommend you revisit these and see if they are compelling enough for visitors to go to your site.
Focus on:
- What you offer
- Why choose your site over others (your competitive advantage)
- Specific product/site features
- How to contact you (e.g. if you are trying to get people to call you for a quote - offer your phone number in the meta description perhaps - not applicable for all sites)
- Meaningful, easy to read language that isn't pumped full of keywords like past years
-
Hi Malcolm,
You are right and the second position gets only ~12%.
Than means less than 160 visits a month.

Even if a keyword has 1300 exact match search volume research shows that you will likely only get around 37% of that through click throughs in an ideal situation.
This also fluctuates based on your title and meta description. Think how many times you've searched for something and skipped the first result because it didn't seem relevant or appealing to your search.
Check your meta title and description, is it in line with what others are using in that SERP?
-
I would prerform the serch yourself in a chrome incognito browser and just looks at the serps.
Is there for exampe, a pack of 6 results taking up that first slot, essentaly making you poition 7+?
Are all the other results dis-similar to you? In which case you might not be what people are searching for.
If your getting impressions, are in the right slot, and theres nothing else odd, compare your meta description to the number 1. People might just be looking at you and thinking you are providing somethign else.
-
Another way to find out that you did proper keyword research is to start up an AdWords campaign using your exact keywords and target the campaign in the UK.
This gives you valuable information about the actual search volume... Because you target the keywords [exact], every impression that is generated is an exact search for one of your keywords and will give you an indication of the search volume.
Everywhere you look Google is giving away coupons with 50, 75 or even 100€ of AdWords credit, so you don't even have to invest any money into it...
-
Hi Jorenr,
1,300 (exact match) for 'some' keywords is not a lot and it can be volatile.
The best place to start debugging is Webmaster Tools > Traffic > Search Queries.
Here you can see if your website has been displayed, how many times, on what keywords, on what position and the CTR of your results.
Please check this and let me know the results.

It may be a problem with the location setting for your website. Is your keyword really specific for the UK? ... such that people from other areas in the world would not search for it? If the local and global keyword search volumes are the same, it could indicate that all of the traffic for that keyword is coming from the UK, and that's where you're currently not ranking.
If that's indeed the case, you should try to increase the number of local search ranking signals, which could include:
-
setting the target country in webmaster tools
-
getting links from other .co.uk domains
-
including an address and phone number on the site from .co.uk
-
move the hosting to somewhere in the UK
There are lots of other hints you can give to Google about the geotargeting of your site. Probably the first 3 would be a good start.

Unsolved How Does MOZ Pro Help An E-Commerce Site Gain Rankings?
Added Maximum keywords on Moz Pro - Updated our SERP and optimized metas for all our products on Bookscardsnbikes. We are sorting out bad backlinks - and have google ads + and boosting our seo. And yet - no traffic or customers [minimal] Have been a business for one year. In short: can you take a look at our moz [Site Audit] and explain what we're missing to get our company off of the ground. We are more than okay with criticism - it helps us grow. Our layout and site design is completely fine and what we want. But we think its just a matter of being a new site that we aren't getting the amount of business we COULD have. Is the 200$ a month worth it? What is moz doing to help us grow? Best. Bookscardsnbikes

Rank tracking in Excel via MOZ API?
Hi there, i hope someone knows the solution to this problem. I created/ copied the "advanced Excel Keyword Analysis Report" that Dan Peskin was kind enough to share, you can find it here: http://moz.com/blog/how-to-build-an-advanced-keyword-analysis-report-in-excel. Now i m looking for a solution to rank my Keywords by using an API, preferably the MOZ API. My keywords are alligned in a column "Keword List", which will be regularly updated. Next to this column i would like to have a column with the corresponding rank. Is there a automatic solution, or do i have to do it manually?

My homepage is not getting indexed by google for some reason
My homepage http://www.truebluelifeinsurance.com is not indexed by google. The rest of my site is indexed. The hompage is indexed by bing. I looked in the webmaster tools and there is no indication why. I believe the issue started when I did a site re-design in August. Any ideas?

Losing Rankings & Need Help
Hi Guys, I am not sure if anyone else is suffering from the July 4, 2013 update. I know many of us are awaiting to see what happens once the dust settles. I have a couple of issues/questions/statements below. This is the first time any Google update has every affected me negatively and I'd love some ideas or input. 1. I have ranked quite well for nearly 10 years for all my top keywords. Now, after this update, I am disappearing for my top keywords in the SERPS - definitely getting pushed to page two, etc. Can anyone help me discover the reasons? I have a great SEO expert helping me and I know quite a bit, but this has me baffled. My website is Journey Beyond Travel.com I have read MOZ's ranking factors for 2013 and also the recently published report from SearchMetrics. In the last few days, I've added more quality text to the homepage and shortened my page title on the homepage (although Google has been changing my homepage browser title to put my brand name first in the title - and they haven't for my competitors). Over the past few months, I've really cleaned up my link profile to the best of my ability. I've never really taken part in any negative or black-hat practices. I am trying to get more links that use my 'brand' name rather than exact anchor text. I believe I have a natural profile - any thoughts? 2. One thing I notice is the higher ranking of larger brands now (at least in my field). Just because a domain with higher authority creates one page of content, how can that outrank me? I mean, I've got ten years and 600+ darn good articles of content on my website. How can one domain that is very 'general' (for example, well known in the world of travel and not specialized or niche like mine) outrank me? How can it be that Google allows larger brands to outrank smaller ones just because they have more backlinks and domain authority, but no real content to support these pages? Is content truly king? I am thinking about an article: "Google, Brands, and the Death of Small Business Online." Anyone wish to collaborate here? I am not being hatelful or resentful, but I foresee the day when an 'alternative' search engine emerges, doesn't allow crap ads, allows users more flexibility, and brings search to the next level. Not all of us want the big brands and are searching for alternatives that stand out. I ignore them when I am searching mostly. Any thoughts or elaborations? Thanks!

Rankings Check and Googles Quality Guidelines
Hi, I am trialing SEOmoz at present. What i dont understand is how come the rankings check, which presumably involves sending requests to Google, doesnt contravine the Google quality guidelines and cause a website to be penalised. Sorry if being a bit dim - but if anybody could explain it would be really helpful cheers stayin
