Backlinks from Trade Website - Are they worth it?
-
Hi
I am doing some linking building for a niche and slightly dull industry. I have found that trade magazine want a lot of money to publish press releases with back links. The publications are relevant to my industry but have a low page rank on Google. Is it still worth paying for these links?
Thanks
David

Small world, I'm a lifelong Rovers fan. Give me a shout if you ever fancy catching up and chatting SEO (or the decay of BRFC).

LOL. I am just down the road in Blackburn (near Ewood Park). I could have posted my question on the back of a whippet If I had known.

Thanks for the advice David.
I think I might just have to just spend the money and hope we get the traffic boost.
Being from the North, I just don't like spending money.

You might be better off launching a few new sites or blogs and pumping them with content and then linking back to your main niche site. That combined with a good social media strategy might save you good dollars in paid publication links and over time you may end up with more than one top ranking site for your niche field.

Hi David,
It depends how much money they are talking, but if they are considered the genuine voice of the industry then it might be worth while.
If you try look at it from a wider point of view than the pure link value of the press release, you can add up how much it's worth to you. If this magazine is going to get your name known throughout the entire industry, you will find it makes your outreach a lot easier in the future.
Also, don't be put off by a low PR/DA, if the industry is very niche then it's unlikely to ever get the big links needed to get the high metrics.
To put it this way; if you own THE number one worldwide blog for mackrel fishing in Eastern England, your site is still going to have a pretty low PR/DA as the mainstream sites that carry the weight aren't going to link to you.
If you're talking thousands then I'd say no, but if it's just more than you'd usually pay I'd say consider it.
Good luck
David

How to identify spammy website before making backlinks on them
Hi, I search in google but didnt find a proper answer for this! maybe search an incorrect keyword! The question is, How can I find out a website that I'm going to make a backlink on is a spammy website? For example I did this guest bloging on this good website: Best Sure-Shot Organic Pest Control Approaches Every Gardener Should Know | Balcony Garden Web But it seems to be spammy because I use SEO POWERSUIT software that shows this backlink is 20% risk of google penalty! Is it right!? So how can we rest assured for making a quality backlink? I can not think any other way 😞

1000 of links on my website ? is it good or bad
Hi guys my site: www.dorchdanola-netbutik.dk is a e-commerce store, and generally we have many links on all pages because of the many products and categories. Im not sure if this is actually bad or good? I've been told that it will definately harm my site when google crawls it. The thing is that google visit my site often and I still have good pageranks in google. So does it actually harm my site having all these products and categories? And what can I do about it if google see every page as duplicate content? I also link to my social pages like FB, G+, e.g. Should I put rel="nofollow" or rel="me" on these social links? Thanks guys!

The Race for Backlinks
I see that this question hasn't been addressed in 2013 and while reviewing my SEOMoz stats, my competition continues to beat me up in the backlink department. I'm wondering if anyone has advice as to how to build those backlinks without Penguin penalty. I want to do it right and I think that's why I can't win this race against my competitors who I see have backlinks on all sorts of sites that are not related to our business. Thanks in advance for the advice!

Extracting contact info from a website
I saw a great link building article on this website a few months ago about finding competitors back links and using a program to find the contact info located in those back links. Can anyone point me to that article, or even the program that is used to get this contact info? Thanks!
