Crazy competitive link analysis, 1 - 40 - 38
-
I'm seeing very strange results on my competitive link analysis. It used to give me a fairly constant domain authority of 38, now one hour i'm seeing 1, then 38 then back to 1 but if I look in opensite explorer it says I have 40. The same weirdness is having to every other stat in the section both in the overview and more detailed section.
The same thing is happening with one of the other competitors i'm comparing my link profile with.
What's going on?

Right on! Thanks Chiaryn! Thanks engineers!

Thanks. Much appreciated!

Hi Everyone,
Our engineers found the issue with the way that information was being pulled from the index and they were able to correct the problem. The campaign and the link analysis data is now matching what OSE is showing.
Please let us know if you're still having any issues.
Thanks,
Chiaryn

Hi There.
I'm really sorry your data is looking off. This sounds like there might be a bug in the way that the Competitive Link Analysis is pulling the data in from the index. I believe that the correct information should be what you're seeing in OSE.
Our engineers are currently looking into the issue, but I am going to create a support ticket for you so I can send them your specific information to look into. You will receive an email notification that the ticket has been created and you can respond with any further information there.
I highly encourage any other users that are experiencing this issue to write in with all of the campaign information to help@seomoz.org so we can further investigate the problem.
Sorry for the inconvenience!
Chiaryn

It's happening on the SEOmoz website on my campaign over view page:
http://pro.seomoz.org/campaigns/156251
Broswers affected:
Firefox 13.0.1
Chrome 20.0.1132.47 m
and in
Internet Explorer 9.0.8112.16421 the competitive link analysis won't even appear I just see spinning set of arrows and a loading note.
I'm using win 7 and everything is updated to latest versions including Java 6.0.220.4
It started happening as soon as the most recent link data went live in July

Clearly seems like a bug with your SEOmoz bar (or whatever you are using) try to uninstall and restart it again!
-
I'm having exactly the same issue. Except the results in OSE are equally erratic.
And as I wrote elsewhere, it took 5 months for another of my clients to show up at all.
Remind me again, please, why I'm paying $99 a month?

Competitor Analysis (help!)
Hey everyone, I'm working on keyword research, and am at the point of going through my list and doing some competitive analysis to figure out which phrases are viable as far as competition goes. What methods are you currently using? As of now, we've been manually searching the phrase in Google, and using the Moz toolbar to check the metrics, backlinks, domain authority etc. I remember before the Adwords integration with Moz was removed, there was a more efficient way to do this using the keyword difficulty tool. Any guidance/suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

How do you determine how much a link is worth?
Obviously things like Mozrank, domain authority, relevancy signals, authority signals, and other fundamentals are a great starting ground, but I was wondering how people put value on a links. How much time is a link from a page rank of x or a moz rank of y worth. How much time, money (not in terms of paid links, but in terms of manpower, copyrighting required, etc.) is a link of a certain rank worth. Obviously there is no exact answer to this question, but I'm very curious to see what people have to say in this regard.

I am trying to find inbound links for one of my site urls. My question is does SEOMoz able to track all internal links as the Open Site Explorer shows 0 internal links?
It shows 0 internal links when I am pretty sure we have multiple internal links.Should we use absolute urls or relative urls for internal links?

How to Link build for our site
Hello, A client of mine has a site that gives advice to people. It's moderately competitive. It's a content site. Using Open Site explorer, I looked up competitor's top pages and backlinks, and there were things such as sites that were heavy on directories, sites heavily on editorial mension, sites on juicy topics that I don't want to cover, and the rest was pretty much junk. Just so that you know, I only link build with quality websites that look strong, long term, have a nice design, are high quality, and are not a directory (with a few exceptions) What's the standard way to link build with a site like this? We've got 7 articles of good content that is from me spending hours learning about the subject and using my skills as a life coach. Right now I'm just adding quality content and social media. I am not a top expert in the field, but I'm learning as much as possible. How do we link build?

Reporting Low internal links to Homepage
I am having a strange problem on one of our websites, I am currently comparing ourselves to our competition as it appears we are underranking. The one difference I can see is that our internal links are very low. They are currently at 22 to the homepage and section pages comapred to our competition which have a few hundred. The size of our site is around 800 pages and they all have a homepage link so I cannot see why it is not reading them. Any help would be appreciated the website url is http://www.trampolinesshop.co.uk/

Gained Links but MozRank drops. Why?
I'm working with a client whose external followed links rose from 897 to 2792 in about a month. However the client's domain MozRank dropped from 4.52 to 3.82. What is a possible cause for this drop?

Is the "Too Many Links" metric a blunt instrument?
The SEO Moz crawl diagnostics suggest that we have too many on-page links on several pages including on our homepage. How does your system determine when a page has too many links. It looks like when a page as more than 100 links it’s too many. Should the system take into account the page authority, domain authority, depth of page or other metrics? In addition, no-follow links are being included. As these are dropped from Google’s link graph, does it matter if we have too many? For example, we could have 200 links, 120 of which are no follow. Your tools would tell us we have too many links. Feedback appreciated. Donal
