High ranked web site on Google GONE - but webspam team says nothing wrong
-
We purchased several weeks ago a .org blog that has been highly ranked (number 1 on competetive keywords) for at least a year.
it is a blog
We moved the blog to our IP range and it went from #1 on top keyword and first page on another to the home page just gone.
Now there was a secondary page indexed that stayed on page 5 for the keyword the home page was ranked #1 but the home page (which was high ranked page is just gone)
We wrote the Google Webmaster team for reconsideration but they wrote back and said the web spam team said nothing wrong.
A contact of mine who works for one of the most well known SEO compaines in the world says because we moved it the site could disappear for a week or so but the "algos would realize" and return it to that top spot soon.
Does anyone know anything about moving a site to new IP and issues that can result?

Glad I was able to help - Can you kindly close out the question by marking my answer "Good Answer" - Thanks

Thank you Irving! I don't always get a chance to go back to the older posts, but I do like to do this when I have time available. It's often interesting to get the follow-up report and see how things turned out.

U guys are really great - following up on old posts and trying to help out. Just sheer amazing.

Hi! I'm following up on older questions. Did Irving's answer help you? How is the site doing now?

Here is an article I wrote a year ago. Not all the bullet points are applicable in all circumstances. Your site can undergo a new evaluation by Google and it may not have enough muster to survive the new world.
It is the general understanding that the “trust” for a domain is reset if any domain registration info changes. Even changing an IP address will cause the search engine to reevaluate link counts and other aspects of the web site. This document provides best SEO practices for changing an IP address and DNS server. Following all these steps will not guarantee that a site will not be impacted after the change, since as noted above there are some factors that are out of our control. The location of the new IP address also might impact Google rankings as Google sometimes like to show results based on locality matching.
Steps for Moving to a new IP address and DNS Server
- Clean up all existing internal site link errors. Many errors found on a fresh crawl may trigger a bad reaction by the search engines.
- Freeze any content changes one week prior and one week after the changeover.
- Inform contacts at Google and Bing when exactly changes will take place to the IP and DNS records.
- Check the new IP address and research if it has been blacklisted in any country whether it will be neighbor to black listed websites. Google does indirectly associate websites which reside on same class C IP address.
- If possible, it is best to ask the hosting provider for a fresh IP as opposed to a recycled IP address. Check on the history of IP addresses using a tool from ip-details.com.
- Test on local machines. Change the local dns to point to the new ip’s before going live, to verify the new servers are working.
- Make sure that all monitoring services are up and running and very thoroughly tested. Also, some services maybe tied to the old site IP addresses, make sure to check if you have any and update the IP address.
- Change the TTL (Time To Live) value of the DNS configuration to something short, like five minutes (300 seconds). This will tell web browsers to re-check the site IP address every five minutes.
- Copy site content to the new hosting environment, and make sure it is live on the new IP address.
- Test to make sure new server is working correctly. Check internal linking at the new location to make sure there aren’t any broken links. We will use crawling tools Xenu’s Link Sleuth and Screaming Frog that will crawl the website and make sure everything is in order.
- Change the DNS settings so the hostname points to the new IP address. DNS propagation is usually very fast in most locations. (approximate 30 minutes)
- All web pages need to be reachable during the whole process by Googlebot and users of course.
- Keep the old server on until cached DNS records expire. The reason to do this is because DNS records are cached for varying times at various points all over the internet. You can tell the old server is no longer needed when traffic drops to zero. Check the logs of the old server to get a clear indication when the crawling process is terminated by Googlebot.
- Check the logs of the new server to see when Googlebot starts crawling the site on the new IP address. Log into Webmaster Tools and monitor any crawl errors. Once Googlebot is happily crawling on the new IP address, you are all set as far as Google is concerned. (Errors in Webmaster can take 24-48 hours to display)

Google Displaying Wrong Homepage URL
Hi Everyone, Google is displaying www.domain.com instead of domain.com. We have our preferred URL set up as domain.com, and even redirect www.domain.com to domain.com, but in the search results it is showing www.domain.com. Problem is we are seeing referral data from www.domain.com and in Google it says "No information is available for this page." Anyone seen a way to resolve this?

Top-10 ranked site dropping in/out of Google index?
I work for a company that makes an important product in a category. The company has a website (www.company.org); the product is at www.company.org/product. We recently (early May) redesigned and rearchitected the product site for SEO purposes. The company site talks about the category a bit (imagine the Colgate site; it talks about "toothpaste" a bit). The blog (blog.company.org/product) also talks about the category quite a bit (and links to the company site of course). The product is a major product in the category, among the top 3. The site and blog have been around for 15+ years. The site has appx. a billion backlinks, most branded links to the product. It's in the top 50 highest ranked sites among all sites on the internet in the ahrefs rank index. Imagine you are searching for our product category, "category". If you search for "category" in Bing today, my company's site is the 3rd result, and it's the 1st result from a company that makes a product in this category. If you search for "category" in Google today, our site is not in the top 150 results. In fact, the site keeps dropping out of Google's index. (See attached for what that looks like in the search console.) What might cause a site to jump from "ranked in top 10" to "not ranked" in Google -- back and forth every couple of days? Penalties? Our recent (early May) site rearchitecture? We're not making giant, index-shifting changes every day. wE0Bn

Google cache is showing my UK homepage site instead of the US homepage and ranking the UK site in US
Hi There, When I check the cache of the US website (www.us.allsaints.com) Google returns the UK website. This is also reflected in the US Google Search Results when the UK site ranks for our brand name instead of the US site. The homepage has hreflang tags only on the homepage and the domains have been pointed correctly to the right territories via Google Webmaster Console. This has happened before in 26th July 2015 and was wondering if any had any idea why this is happening or if any one has experienced the same issueFDGjldR

Strong Site, Pages, Ranking Low
Hey Mozers This is a question which has been bugging me for a while now I have an authority site in my niche which has a stronger DA than pretty well every competitor, but certain sections of the site underperform. For instance, when you search for 'Jerusalem Dead Sea tour', my item, http://www.touristisrael.com/tours/jerusalem-dead-sea-day-tour/ does not appear in the first few pages. I have a page that appears on the first page, but it is less relevant than this product page. This is an example, there are tens of cases like this. So the question is, am I signalling to Google not to rank these pages, and is there something I'm missing with regards to strengthening product pages in this tour section? Thanks

Wrong country sites being shown in google
Hi, I am having some issues with country targeting of our sites. Just to give a brief background of our setup and web domains We use magento and have 7 connected ecommerce sites on that magento installation 1.www.tidy-books.co.uk (UK) - main site 2. www.tidy-books.com (US) - variations in copy but basically a duplicate of UK 3.www.tidy-books.it (Italy) - fully translated by a native speaker - its' own country based social medias and content regularly updated/created 4.www.tidy-books.fr (France) - fully translated by a native speaker - its' own country based social medias and content regularly updated/created 5.www.tidy-books.de (Germany) - fully translated by a native speaker - uits' own country based social medias and content regularly updated/created 6.www.tidy-books.com.au (Australia) - duplicate of UK 7.www.tidy-books.eu (rest of Europe) - duplicate of UK I’ve added the country and language href tags to all sites. We use cross domain canonical URLS I’ve targeted in the international targeting in Google webmaster the correct country where appropriate So we are getting number issues which are driving me crazy trying to work out why The major one is for example If you search with an Italian IP in google.it for our brand name Tidy Books the .com site is shown first then .co.uk and then all other sites followed on page 3 the correct site www.tidy-books.it The Italian site is most extreme example but the French and German site still appear below the .com site. This surely shouldn’t be the case? Again this problem happens with the co.uk and .com sites with when searching google.co.uk for our keywords the .com often comes up before the .co.uk so it seems we have are sites competing against each other which again can’t be right or good. The next problem lies in the errors we are getting on google webmaster on all sites is having no return tags in the international targeting section. Any advice or help would be very much appreciated. I’ve added some screen shots to help illustrate and happy to provide extra details. Thanks UK%20hreflang%20errors.png de%20search.png fr%20search.png it%20search.png

How is my 301 redirected site stealing rankings from the main site?
Hello, I have a site, drhobelt.com, that 301 redirects to the main site, drhonow.com. Not only is drhobelt.com still indexed, but it recently stole rankings from drhonow.com for "decompression belt" related terms. What could be causing this? How do I reclaim the rankings for drhonow.com? Thanks for reading!!
