Multiple Translations on a Wordpress Blog
-
Hi,
If I wanted to have multiple translations available on the following wordpress blog: Packageforwardingservice.com. What would be the best strategy? Use a plugin or use a subdomain such as spanish.packageforwardingservice.com?
If the second option how would I add the translated content? install another version of wordpress on host?
Thanks!

Hi Tony,
Depends how you wanted to do it. There are two simple ways of doing it:
- Submit the new pages as Posts, and give them a category (ES,DE), then set your permalink structure to /category/post-name
This might mess with your existing URL structure set up though.
- The alternative way around this is using custom post types, so creating a custom post type called 'es', and any post submitted in it will automatically have the structure /es
There are other ways to do go about it, including multiple Wordpress installs, although it all starts to get a bit messy.
Cheers

Hi David,
How would I setup the subdirectories on the wordpress blog? also how would the content be posted?
Thanks

Hi Tony,
In that case you definitely wouldn't want to be using a translation plugin, as you want to have permanent static pages that can be indexed by the search engines.
If you want to geo-target specific countries with the multi-language content, then personally I would suggest using mirror sites on localised TLD's.
However if you wanted to keep everything on the same site to leverage the domain authority, then I would suggest sub-folders rather than subdomains so yoursite.com, yoursite.com/es etc etc
Cheers
David

Hi David,
My intent is hoping the new language pages will attract visitors from foreign language search. We want to target latin american countries and will translate to spanish and portuguese.
Thanks!

Hi Tony,
There are a few ways of going about this.
The big question to ask up front though, is what is your aim of having the multiple languages? Is it simply to provide your content in an alternative language to assist your existing visitors, or are you hoping the new language pages will attract visitors from foreign language search?
Depending on your intent, the method I would recommend would be vastly different.
Thanks,
David

Unsolved Duplicate Contents in Order Pages of Multiple Products
Hi, I have a website containing 30 software products. Each product has an order page. The problem is that the layout and content of these 30 order pages are very similar, except for the product name, for example: https://www.datanumen.com/access-repair-order/

https://www.datanumen.com/word-repair-order/ Siteliner has reports these pages as duplicate contents. I am thinking of noindex these pages. However, in such a case, if a user search for "DataNumen Outlook Repair order page", then he will not be able to see the order page of our product, which drives the revenue go away. So, how to deal with such a case? Thank you.1 -
IMG TITLE no longer used in Wordpress?
Err, when did this happen? Although you can still enter a Title in the WP image library, when inserting into a post the Title tag is not implemented. Alt text is there OK but not Title. There was a plugin around that restored this basic seo functionality but it's no longer available. I mean - honestly!

Do Blog Tags affect SEO at all anymore?
We're trying to standardize the use of tags on our site amongst writers/editors, and I'm trying to come up a list of tags they can choose from to tag posts with - and telling them to use no more than 10 (absolute maximum) per post. We are also in the process of migrating to a new CMS, and have 8 defined categories that will all have their own landing page within our "News" section. TLDR: Do blog tags have any impact on SEO anymore? Are they solely meant to help users find articles related on popular topics, or does creating a tag for a popular topic help to improve organic visibility? Full Question: With the tag standardization, I want to make sure we're creating the most useful and effective tags; and the UX/SEO sides of my brain are conflicted. To my understanding, creating a tag about a high volume topic in an industry helps establish the website's relevance to Google/other search engines about that topic and improves overall relevance; but the tag feed page (ex: http://freshome.com/tag/home-protection/) isn't really meant for organic search visibility. So my other question is, is it worth it to noindex the tag pages in the robots.txt? Will that affect any benefit to increased relevance for Google (if there is any)? I'm interested to hear others' thoughts and suggestions. Thanks in advance!

Duplicate Content - Blog Rewriting
I have a client who has requested a rewrite of 250 blog articles for his IT company. The blogs are dispersed on a variety of platforms: his own website's blog, a business innovation website, and an IT website. He wants to have each article optimised with keyword phrases and then posted onto his new website thrice weekly. All of this is in an effort to attract some potential customers to his new site and also to establish his company as a leader in its field. To what extent would I need to rewrite each article so as to avoid duplicating the content? Would there even be an issue if I did not rewrite the articles and merely optimised them with keywords? Would the articles need to be completely taken by all current publishers? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Wordpress GD Star Rating Not Showing In SERPS
I've installed the GD Star Rating plugin on my site for example this page: http://www.top-10-dating-reviews.com/up-for-it/ (this links to an adult site) and have tested it with the rich snippet testing tool and the results show the stars as I want them. However in search results google is not displaying the stars? Has anyone come across this before? When I check webmaster tools structured data it is finding 1 type on 15 pages. I have two types, star ratings and google authorship so it appears google is not picking up on the star ratings in webmaster tools but it works on the rich snippet testing tool? Very confusing! Any help much appreciated!
