High Ranking, Low DA & PA
-
I have some low competition words that I am trying to rank for, I have a competitor that is using similar words but outranking people with more links DA, and PA. How is this possible? I do see alot of people in our niche buying domain names that match exact keyword searches, with little or know backlinks ranking top 5.
Thank You

Is there anyway around the Exact keyword usage in the url?
EX- Searching for "jason aldean tickets" this site www.jasonaldeantickets.org shows up on page #1 among very high ranking sites that have been around a number of years. if you click on a link on the .org site to purchase inventory there is a 301 back to the main site, you can see the url/name changes. Is there anyway for google to eventually filter these out?
Thanks

Without specifc examples it's hard to be specific.
Remember that the link profile (and DA/PA it provides) is only part of the equation. There are lots of other factors that search engines are going to take into account.
What is the relevance of the content? How good is the content that's ranking? What about freshness? Is it being updated regularly? Is there a lot of social engagement/comments etc?
Links are only part of the equation. You can find out more about ranking factors here:
http://www.seomoz.org/article/search-ranking-factors
You might want to do a Full SERP analysis on the Keyword Difficulty tool to see how on-page/social might be affecting things.
Hope this helps!

Will Ecademy closure affect websites google ranking
Hi, i think i must be the only one that did not know about Ecademy sale, well almost. In the past week I have had a number of people contact me who are angry that they did not receive an email about ecademy business network being sold off. These people are more than angry about their monthly payments leaving their bank acounts and not having access to the new site which is here www.sunzu.com/ Although a lot of people are angry of the handling of this, an important question i would like to ask is, with ecademy no longer being around, does this mean that all the hard work of people writing articles on ecademy and gaining link juice, will all this link juice vanish look forward to hearing your thoughts

Penguin: Carry On & Hope Or Start A New Site
I'm at a loss and no so-called SEO agency/expert I've hired appears to know the main causes of our post-Penguin downfall of our traffic. To set the scene, I set up a voucher code site (www.ozvouchercodes.com.au) in Australia 3 years ago and since, it's been growing very well up until Google launched the Penguin update in April. Having read as much as I could on the update my understanding is toxic links cause the slap. For on-site I've checked the site and tried to reduce keywords [spamming], increased [unique] content across the site and made sure there are as few instances of duplicate content as possible. To attempt to understand my back link profile I've used SEOmoz & Link Detective as the current SEO agency give me little visibility on this. It appears we're a little top heavy with 32% & 11% of are keywords containing 'coupons' and 'promotion codes' respectively. Consequently we no longer appear on those two terms but also hundreds of other terms we once appeared in the top 3 postitions. The Link Detective report downloaded also appears to have a number of back links with the words 'Penalized' and 'Banned' next to them. Unfortunately there is no explanation on Link Detective whether this needs action or not. My current SEO agency suggest that we have been too focused on a limited number of keywords and that a few more months of diversifying the range will solve it. So do I spend another £X amount for 3-6 months of SEO or drop the site on a new URL and start again. Any ideas? Any help is very welcome & appreciated. Henry

What can I do to increase this page's rank
I have this page that is doing alright for the phrase "skyward sword walkthrough" I used to be ranked number 2 but it has dropped http://legendzelda.net/skyward-sword-walkthrough/ Sites like IGN are huge so I do not blame them for overpassing my rank but zelda informer I feel like I should be outranking at least. I have a fairly good on page ranking grade using the seomoz tool. And the OSE shows I have 11 domains linking - most with some kind of variation to that keyword. And I have actually built out more since then. Most the links are on highly relevant pages. I contacted a lot of gaming sites before this game was released and asked for a link back in exchange for a variety of things (shoutouts mostly - no paid links) The page performed extremely well when Skyward Sword came out and I got hundreds of thousands of hits but as my rank is beginning to drop its a lot less (also can be attributed to hype dying down). But any suggestions or glaring issues would be great. Link building is something I am always doing as well - mostly through guest blogging.

High PR networks look like they are gaining traction - and working!
Let me put a disclaimer here that I do not use high PR networks in any of my seo endeavors. That being said, they have always looked attractive - especially post panda where in content links from high pr websites are valuable. I run seo campaigns for a large lot of websites & have been noticing my competition creeping past me who are using links from these networks to increase their positions for hard to attain keywords. Has anyone here had experience building links using these types of networks? It looks like they are under google's radar for now & are a great way to get some powerful links to your site. Any thoughts on if google will catch onto these types of links if they are properly protected (limited footprint, revolving links, unique content, etc.)? It's tough not to be at least interested in networks like this b/c of the results they provide.
