Blog? Is it worth it?
-
Hi Guys,
Hope your all OK.
Apart from our main site we have a static comparison site that's now ranking really high for some of our big keywords.
At the moment the site only has 2 pages and I'm wondering weither or not to setup a blog on the site to not only increase the pages indexed but also increase our longtail keyword rankings...
I'll be able to create a new article aday.
Would like your input guys.
Thanks,
Scott

Are you going to be converting the whole website to sit on a wordpress platform? Nothing to really worry about just be careful whenever making large changes to already ranking pages. Be extra careful and double check before setting it live.

Hi EGOL,
Thanks for the reply and a really good answer.
Thanks again.

First, if you can make a blog and add good content regularly that is something that should be tried. After you have done it for several months you can look at the traffic that it brings and decide if you are getting a good return.
If I was going to write an article per day or per week I would rather have that good content on my main website. That way when people visit they are already where they have easy access to my other content / products / services.
Also, if the blog attracts links then those links will hit my main site and benefit it directly rather than hit a satellite site that only passes part of the link value back to my main site.
The only reason that I would put the blog on a satellite site is if the satellite site had much better rankings all around than my main site.

No brainer. Yes. Content is king in the new generation of SEO. With the ability to generate additional pages indexed with your keywords and solid content you are going to get value. YES.
Make it happen. Good luck.

How many backlinks should I incluede in guest blog?
Hello MOZ I really need some help here and would love your advice! I have access to a fantastic PBN through my sister's work colleague who is an experienced marketing director. The PBN is relative to my industry and are all DA 50+ My sister is a copywriter and is putting content together around 500-600 words long. My questions are: How many backlinks should she include in each guest blog post? Are 2 too many? Should the anchor text keywords be exact to the products I am selling? Tips/Advice going forward with the project? Thank you!

Blog Content
I keep reading that a steady stream of new blogs from my site is a great way for getting inbound links to my site. My question is... Does the content of my blogs have to be relevant to my site? My site is www.marblerenovation.com. If the blog should stay relevant, I am finding it pretty hard to create engaging content around cleaning marble floors. Also, does anyone know of a good place to find bloggers to help create this content? Thanks in advance everyone Dave

SEO for a Deal Blog
Hi, I have a deal blog that is several months old. My established and successful "competitors" have a high Domain Authority (43, 46, 63) but most of their blog posts are very short. Our readers want to know about the coupon, deal, discount, code etc - they don't want 250 + words for each post. However I am concerned that lots of short posts will label my blog as low quality and that Google Panda will get me. My competitors easily get on page 1 of google. Yes they also write articles but majority of their posts are short. I deindexed quite a few short blog posts but my audience googles for coupons and deals like crazy. I try to give as much info as I can without being wordy and annoying but sometimes that still gets me only 100 words. I also write a lot of articles relevant to my niche (mom/baby/maternity) that are high quality and several hundred words. Just looking for input on deal blog SEO. Thanks!

Evergreen content: Dedicated section or blog posts?
As part of our content strategy we are creating an ongoing series of articles to help both our potential buyers and our users learn about our product and improve their knowledge of industry best practices in general. Internally, we've had some debate as to where we should host this content within our site. We've identified two approaches: Series of blog posts Dedicated knowledge section of the website If we go with the first approach, we would created a dedicated section that indexed all the blog posts. If we went with the second, we'd create blog posts for each of the articles announcing their addition. Is there any difference, SEO wise with the two approaches? What would you recommend? Thanks, Darren.

Should I publish several blog posts at once or stagger?
I have several blog posts that I want to publish (40 or so). For freshness is it better to stagger their publication over several months or is it fine to publish them all at the same time. The comments are closed.

Should I Have No Index, No Follow On Blog Category & Tag Pages?
At some point in the past I read or was told that No Index, No Follow tags on category and tag pages were a good thing on a standard WordPress blog in order to prevent duplicate content issues. Is this still true or was it ever true?
