Youtube Videos For SEO

Besides enhancing the page and time on page, can youtube videos do anything for seo? Can we save the videos and rename them with keywords?

Here are the benefits that I have seen from videos. We started making them for one of our sites in November.
We display them on Youtube and on our website. As you mentioned they have increased the "time-on-site" significantly. We display a couple on our homepage and they get viewed a lot. They let people know that we have more videos inside. I am sure that they contribute to pageviews.
When we post them on YouTube
--- we have our URL visible in the video window - this probably earns some domain queries and that tells google that people are asking for our site by name
--- we have a link in our video description and many people use it
--- these links are visible in google webmaster tools
--- our videos display in the SERPs at google.com for some of our important keywords
--- one of our videos ranks #1 for our most important keyword on youtube, we have several videos on that YouTube SERP
--- our videos are being viewed hundreds of times every day on YouTube
--- I often use the word "VIDEO" in my title tags. I think that should earn clicks from people. Lots would rather watch a video than read.
--- philosophically if your site and my site have articles of equal value but yours has two images and mine has two videos which has richer content? Maybe google will rank that one higher.
It is impossible to say exactly how google weighs this stuff but videos are not too hard to make and I think that they bring value to your site.

How do you implement an SEO site structure with content that falls under two silos?
We primarily produce two different types of content: concise fact sheets on topics and video briefings + transcripts of topics. Often these two content types cover the same topic area and since we're currently siloing by content type, these pages end up competing against each other for rankings. Advice on a site structure that'd avoid these issues?

Do Blog Tags affect SEO at all anymore?
We're trying to standardize the use of tags on our site amongst writers/editors, and I'm trying to come up a list of tags they can choose from to tag posts with - and telling them to use no more than 10 (absolute maximum) per post. We are also in the process of migrating to a new CMS, and have 8 defined categories that will all have their own landing page within our "News" section. TLDR: Do blog tags have any impact on SEO anymore? Are they solely meant to help users find articles related on popular topics, or does creating a tag for a popular topic help to improve organic visibility? Full Question: With the tag standardization, I want to make sure we're creating the most useful and effective tags; and the UX/SEO sides of my brain are conflicted. To my understanding, creating a tag about a high volume topic in an industry helps establish the website's relevance to Google/other search engines about that topic and improves overall relevance; but the tag feed page (ex: http://freshome.com/tag/home-protection/) isn't really meant for organic search visibility. So my other question is, is it worth it to noindex the tag pages in the robots.txt? Will that affect any benefit to increased relevance for Google (if there is any)? I'm interested to hear others' thoughts and suggestions. Thanks in advance!

Are tags important for SEO?
I just installed a plugin called SEO content control and it is telling me I need to write descriptions for my tags. I haven't been using tags although I did create a list of them. I don't have an endless amount of time on my hands so is this a worthwhile task?

Anyone done SEO with on-page ONLY?
I read this blog post: http://www.seomoz.org/ugc/let-onpage-optimization-change-your-life The author claims they have increased the visitors 50 fold doing on-page seo ONLY. So they just added content, and optimized the site structure. Anyone have seen similar results? Not outreach whatsoever, just adding content to site. Technically, this should be true, article directories has tons of visitors and they were giving out links.

Should my client remove "SEO" from the XML sitemap name?
I have suggested to a client with limited content on their site (considering it's in a very competitive sector with oceans of content possibilities!) that they probably shouldn't name the XML sitemap featuring their "seo content pages" (I hate that terminology BTW!) - google_sitemap_seo.xml My reasoning is that if I was a Google engineer or Google bot, I would probably ignore and disregard those pages because they are most likely poor quality content/doorway pages/boiler plate pages/ "enter your descriptive phrase here" pages. The push back from tech is that it doesn't make a difference so we're not going to do it.
