New links not showing in site explorer ?
-
I have built links to my site this past month that I know are live and in place and some do follow and some no follow ...
Are the no follow links just not going to show up in my site explorer data ?
And the others - why would they not be showing up yet ?
SeoMoz updated thier link data aug 1st , my site has been crawled since then ,
but this new work I have done for link building have not shown up - None of them ?
Its like I did not do any work ?
how long could it take for them to show up and affect my site trust ect ?
Also is there anything I vould be doing to speed the process up of having the new links found ?

Google makes no promises that it will show you all of the links that it knows about, and also makes no promises that the links that it shows count for anything. They have publicly admitted they do not count links from UpDowner, for example, to the relief of many webmasters.
At the beginning of your response, you state your website rankings have improved. That is one report you can show the client. Other things to look at for your client are their traffic and how that has changed -- have those links given the client any referral traffic? has the client's organic traffic increased on keywords you've been targeting? has your client made more conversions? Page and Domain authority are nice, but they don't pay the client's mortgage. Find things that help show to the client what you have done is my suggestion.

O.K.
I logged into google webmaster and found 32 linking domains in there.
I am a new user to Seomoz and am just trying to get things clear.
My website rankings have improved,
I am doing some tedious link building and am trying to figure out how much work (links) i am doing is helping my sites actual rankings.
I need to know what to tell my seo clients and need to show results on these reports
my report on here shows 9 linking domains
Google webmaster shows 32 linking domains
and I know I have built links that are live that are not even showing up in Google webmaster account.
I need to understand the time frame so I can explain to my clients when i can show results of my workks effect on website score/links/domain trust ect.
If Why are some links not showing in Google ?
Do they just not show you all of them ?
Why are at least the ones in My webmaster account not showing on my Seomoz reports
Also i read somewhere that when you build a new link you should ping it so it shows up faster ? Have you heard this ? Does it help ?
I have to do a report for a client that does not show any improvement at all knowing i have bulit at least 70 new links back to thier site ... Im a little frustrated and don't want to lose the client.
I was hoping to be able to send a professional looking report not just aa excell file of link addresses.
Any feedback would be greatly appreciated
Thank you in advance !
Joe

Hi! The last data update is showing link information from crawls in Mid-May to Mid-July, with more details available at http://www.seomoz.org/blog/august-mozscape-update. Have you looked in Google Webmaster Tools and Bing Webmaster Center for your incoming links and see if they've shown up there yet? Google and Bing both have bigger server farms than we do, and can show you the information a bit faster.

How is my 301 redirected site stealing rankings from the main site?
Hello, I have a site, drhobelt.com, that 301 redirects to the main site, drhonow.com. Not only is drhobelt.com still indexed, but it recently stole rankings from drhonow.com for "decompression belt" related terms. What could be causing this? How do I reclaim the rankings for drhonow.com? Thanks for reading!!

Will a Google manual action affect all new links, too?
I have had a Google manual action (Unnatural links to your site; affects: all) that was spurred on by a PRWeb press release where publishers took it upon themselves to remove the embedded "nofollow" tags on links. I have been spending the past few weeks cleaning things up and have submitted a second pass at a reconsideration request. In the meantime, I have been creating new content, boosting social activity, guest blogging and working with other publishers to generate more natural inbound links. My question is this: knowing that this manual action affects "all," are the new links that I am building being negatively tainted as well? When the penalty is lifted, will they regain their strength? Is there any hope of my rankings improving while the penalty is in effect?

Counting over-optimised links - do internal links count too?
To whit: In working out whether I've too many over-optimised links pointing to my homepage, do I look at just external links -- or also the links from my internal pages to my homepage? In other words, can a natural link profile from internal pages help dilute overoptimisation from external links?

Splitting a Site into Two Sites for SEO Purposes
I have a client that owns a business that really could be easily divided into two separate business in terms of SEO. Right now his web site covers both divisions of his business. He gets about 5500 visitors a month. The majority go to one part of his business and around 600 each month go to the other. So about 11% I'm considering breaking off this 11% and putting it on an entirely different domain name. I think I could rank better for this 11%. The site would only be SEO'd for this particular division of the company. The keywords would not be in competition with each other. I would of course link the two web sites and watch that I don't run into any duplicate content issues. I worry about placing the redirects from the pages that I remove to the new pages. I know Google is not a fan of redirects. Then I also worry about the eventual drop in traffic to the main site now. How big of a factor is traffic in rankings? Other challenges include that the business services 4 major metropolitan areas. Would you do this? Have you done this? How did it work? Any suggestions?

How to link back to our main site from landing pages without getting penalized
I work for a small family insurance agency in CA and I am trying to learn how to compete in this extremely competitive industry. One of the ideas we had was to purchase all the long-tail keyword urls we could and use them as landing pages to direct traffic back to our primary site. (ex. autoinsurancecity.com). Our thought was that we could put landing pages on each that looked almost identical to the main page and use the navigation in the landing pages as links to direct traffic to the applicable category pages on the main site. (Ex. autoinsurancecity.com -> mainpage.com/auto-insurance). My concern is that I want to make sure we don't tick off Google. Implementing this strategy would result in each of the category pages getting lots of links from the landing page navigation very quickly. I don't think the links will be worth much from an SEO perspective, but I don't want them to look like spam either. Any suggestions on if this sort of tactic would put us at risk of being penalized? If so, does anyone have any suggestions on a better way to implement a strategy like this? Thank you in advance for the help! I'm totally new to this and any advice goes a long way!
