Best practise needed for translating content
-
Hi all,
I was after some advice in the best solution to follow for translating website content into multiple languages? I am working on a content rich UK site and want to know a good solution to translate this content into other languages for best practise SEO?
Would anyone have any recommendations in best practise to follow as well as best solutions?
Many thanks
Simon

I'm looking into doing this as well.
The best way is to have the content translated by a professional, I would suggest using Odesk, this way you're getting an accurate translation. The only issue I can think of with doing this is that if you're targeting certain keywords they might not be what people are searching for in the language that you translate to. Also, the cost of doing it this way can add up.
The Alternative would be to use a translation program/plug in to do this for you.
I suggest getting it translated by a professional as this way you know that your articles aren't going to insult anyone.

Duplicate Content
Crawl Diagnostics has returned several issues that I'm unsure how to fix. I'm guessing it's a canonical link issue but not entirely sure... Duplicate Page Content/Titles On a website (http://www.smselectronics.co.uk/market-sectors) with 6 market sectors but each pull the same 3 pages as child pages - certifications, equipment & case studies. On each products section where the page only shows X amount of items but there are several pages to fit all the products this creates multiple pages. There is also a similar pagination problem with the Blogs (auto generated date titles & user created SEO titles) & News listings. Blog Tags also seem to generate duplicate pages with the same content/titles as the parent page. Are these particularly important for SEO or is it more important to remove the duplication by deleting them? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Wordpress tags and duplicate content?
I've seen a few other Q&A posts on this but I haven't found a complete answer. I read somewhere a while ago that you can use as many tags as you would like. I found that I rank for each tag I used. For example, I could rank for best night clubs in san antonio, good best night clubs in san antonio, great best night clubs in san antonio, top best night clubs in san antonio, etc. However, I now see that I'm creating a ton of duplicate content. Is there any way to set a canonical tag on the tag pages to link back to the original post so that I still keep my rankings? Would future tags be ignored if I did this?

Duplicate content in product listing
We have "duplicate content" warning in our moz report which mostly revolve around our product listing (eCommerce site) where various filters return 0 results (and hence show the same content on the page). Do you think those need to be addressed, and if so how would you prevent product listing filters that appearing as duplicate content pages? should we use rel=canonical or actually change the content on the page?

Auto-loading content via AJAX - best practices
We have an ecommerce website and I'm looking at replacing the pagination on our category pages with functionality that auto-loads the products as the user scrolls. There are a number of big websites that do this - MyFonts and Kickstarter are two that spring to mind. Obviously if we are loading the content in via AJAX then search engine spiders aren't going to be able to crawl our categories in the same way they can now. I'm wondering what the best way to get around this is. Some ideas that spring to mind are: detect the user agent and if the visitor is a spider, show them the old-style pagination instead of the AJAX version make sure we submit an updated Google sitemap every day (I'm not sure if this a reasonable substitute for Google being able to properly crawl our site) Are there any best practices surrounding this approach to pagination? Surely the bigger sites that do this must have had to deal with these issues? Any advice would be much appreciated!

How do I deal with Duplicate content?
Hi, I'm trying SEOMOZ and its saying that i've got loads of duplicate content. We provide phone numbers for cities all over the world, so have pages like this... https://www.keshercommunications.com/Romaniavoipnumbers.html https://www.keshercommunications.com/Icelandvoipnumbers.html etc etc. One for every country. The question is, how do I create pages for each one without it showing up as duplicate content? Each page is generated by the server, but Its impossible to write unique text for each one. Also, the competition seem to have done the same but google is listing all their pages when you search for 'DID Numbers. Look for DIDWW or MyDivert.

When is the best time to submit a sitemap?
What changes to a website constitute resubmitting a sitemap? For example, if I add new in-site links, should I then resubmit? Or is it more for changes to URLs, Page titles, etc?
