URL stucture like Zappos?

Hi,

My site structure looks like this.

domainname.com/nl/holidayhouses/villa-costa
domainname.com/nl/apartments/apartment-caifem

ect.

I just went to zappos to research the site and het notice me that zappos.com has no directories. If i implement this my structure looks like this.

domainname.com/nl/holidayhouse-villa-costa
domainname.com/nl/apartments-apartment-caifem

Is this a better approach?

It would be a shorter url (good), and a more descriptive page name (good), but your original one isn't bad either (no dynamic variables and etc).

If your currents structure is already being indexed, I don't think it is worth changing though.

Hi everyone, I am doing an audit of a site that currently have a lot of 500 errors due to the russian langage. Basically, all the url's look that way for every page in russian: http://www.exemple.com/ru-kg/pешения-для/food-packaging-machines/
http://www.exemple.com/ru-kg/pешения-для/wood-flour-solutions/
http://www.exemple.com/ru-kg/pешения-для/cellulose-solutions/ I am wondering if this error is really caused by the server or if Google have difficulty reading the russian langage in URL's. Is it better to have the URL's only in english ?

How can I make a list of all URLs indexed by Google?

I started working for this eCommerce site 2 months ago, and my SEO site audit revealed a massive spider trap. The site should have been 3500-ish pages, but Google has over 30K pages in its index. I'm trying to find a effective way of making a list of all URLs indexed by Google. Anyone? (I basically want to build a sitemap with all the indexed spider trap URLs, then set up 301 on those, then ping Google with the "defective" sitemap so they can see what the site really looks like and remove those URLs, shrinking the site back to around 3500 pages)

Url design for automobile parts

Hi All, Im designing the url and im confused, need your experts advice engine-oil is a category I will display car truck, bike oils only
Car > in this page I will display engine oils only related to car
Hyundia> in this page I will display engine oils only related to hyundia
i30 > in this page I will display engine oils only related to i30 models
Petrol > in this page I will display engine oils only related to petrol So im planning for www.xyz.com/engine-oil/car/Hyundia/i30/Petrol or should I write like this below xyz.com/c-engine-oil.html

Using abbreviations in URL - Matching Keyword

We have a website that uses /us/, /ca/, /va/, etc for URLs of the different U.S. states. How much better is it (or is it at all better) to use /california/ or /virginia/ instead in our URLs to rank for searches that include the name of those states?

Mobile URLs stolen and I need them back!

Hi guys, Mobile SEO question. So some time in the past, my client accidentally got a whole bunch of m.example.co.nz URLs indexed due to a link on another website and the awesome relative URL links on my client website. However, now they're building a mobile website and they want all those m.example.co.nz URLs. My question is, if we build a new mobile website and use those mobile website URLs including those already indexed by Google, will Google automatically know after crawling those URLs that they are now for mobile users? Will it change the pages to it's mobile index? Or will it be a case of duplicate content? Thanks Kim

What Is The Preferred Url Structure For Se’s?

Here is my issue, my domain is abcdomian.com and I’m trying to rank the site for the keyword “example”. All of my content is under “abcdomain.com/folder/example/” and building content off of “abcdomain.com/example” is not an option. So I’m thinking about moving the content to “abcdomain.com/online-example/” and 301ing the old pages . Of the two paths below, which will have a greater impact on my rankings for the term “example”? Current: abcdomain.com/folder/example/
Proposed: abcdomain.com/online-example/ Thoughts?

Expiring URL seo

a buddy of mine is running a niche job board and is having issues with expiring URLs. we ruled it out cuz a 301 is meant to be used when the content has moved to another page, or the page was replaced. We were thinking that we'd be just stacking duplicate content on old urls that would never be 'replaced'. Rather they have been removed and will never come back. So 410 is appropriate but maybe we overlooked something. any ideas?
