Anyone using Followerwonk? Email said SEOMOZ just aquired it.
-
Hi,
So looks like SEMOZ just aquired followerwonk.com and that I have free access to this system.
I had a quick look at it and it seems like it's an analytics program for twitter.
Anyone used it? And can you use it to help grow your list?
Cheers

Nice distillation here Justin, thanks.

Thanks very much.

Yes I use it quite a lot, its a fantastic tool.
There are many ways you can use it to grow followers, but a couple of the more straightforward ones are
Analyse your followers against your competitors, you can see which followers you have in common and more importantly people who follow them and not you
You can search users bios based on interests, so for example if you were a clothes retailer you could search for location & fashion to find potential local followers
There is a whole host of other features that allow you to find how influential your followers are, how many followers they have etc.
So all round its a real useful tool and it is extremely powerful
Rand does dig a big deeper into the features in his acquisition announcement, so that is worth a read if you haven't done so already

Why not just use an alias if the only change is a different domain Name?
We are rebranding our store with a new name. We have purchased a NewDomainName. Can I just make the "Old Domain Name" an alias for the "NewDomainName"? The site will not change in any other way than having a new logo. This is an e-commerce site with over 100 categories of artisan made products. So once we move the site, the old domain will be empty. Thank you Stephen

New site just launched - would appreciate some feedback!
Hi, Some may have seen me around the forum recently asking a few questions about my website which was being re-vamped. Well its now live. www.followuk.co.uk Would love some actionable advice / constructive criticism. Website background: It started life as a website displaying dates for UK bank holidays, noticed some good traffic/sharing so decided to open it up to UK occasions. This resulted in more traffic and social sharing so over the last month I have re-built the whole website to be responsive and 'I hope' professional / interesting to visitors. I also opened it up further into other UK dates such as sporting events and festivals - these categories will gain more pages as well as new categories to come. I'm hoping to turn it into a little UK resource for this type of content. Thank you.

Are press releases still useful?
In light of so many Google changes are press releases with PRWeb or the like still worth using?

What has SEOMOZ inspired you to do?
SEOMOZ inspired me to try to build links pre-launch by making an amazing pre-launch product. Check it out guys: http://vitamob.com My team and I are very proud of this one. We put a ton of effort into making this remarkable "splash" page to build up hype before our launch. It was inspired by a story we read on the SEOMOZ blog. What has SEOMOZ inspired you to do?

Has anyone got any hotel (small) web marketing tips or tricks
I have a client who ranks well for his boutique hotel both in Google search and Google places. The problem now is he needs to fill his rooms next week (type of thing). We are down the Google Adwords route already. But clicks are super expensive (competing against the big hotels). We have also been trying to get his social media rolling and have started a light ad campaign on FB but I can't see clicks translating into our Google analytics account. (so not sold on it but is a lot cheaper than Google adwords) Next on the list is email marketing which we be getting ready for next week to his existing database. And we have been thinking about paid Press Releases but not sure if its worth it. (PRWEB or Prnewswire) One big bonus is he got a number 1 award on Tripadvisor a few months back (which radically spiked hits on site). So, a more long term solution is to approach media directly with a follow up story to the award but that's going to take a bit of time. Anyone had any experience with hotel marketing? Any insights would be great. Thanks

What do i do with multiple cheap domain names I want to use for SEO?
My domain registrar was having a sale for 1$ per year .com domain names (just for the first year). So I went all out and bought 16 domain names. They pretty much all are two or more keywords that i'd like to rank high on put together. We do dedicated server monitoring, so for instance I bought apachemonitoring.com and haproxymoniotring.com. Can anyone tell me what the best way would be to put these to good use technically? Options: Each domain just 301's to a specific landing page on my main company website Each domain is a site on a drupal multisite with just one page that has links to just my company website Other ideas? Thanks in advance! Walter

What tools do you use to submit a site to local yellowpages?
Hey all, two part question for you. Do you use any tools to automatically submit websites to local yellowpages (example: http://business.intuit.com/directory/marketing/100_syndication_sites.jsp)? and if so, what one and why? Are there any dangers to doing it this way? It seems that this might save a lot of time and be incredibly helpful to manage your brand profile pages in a centralized location. Also some tools that I am seeing incorporate brand monitoring (which you can do through a variety of tools I know). Anyways, thoughts? comments? tips?
