Lots of Listings on Page 2 SERP, but none on the first?
-
For one of our most important keywords we have several pages ranking highly on the second page of search results in google. Yet none on the first page, is there anyway to concentrate our rankings to bump one to the first page? We would rather have even just one link on the first page than the 4 or 5 we have on the second now.

Yes you can use a 301 redirects to concentrate the link authority of multiple pages into one page (assuming that each page has some inbound links). This may give you a rankings boost to get you over the hump.
301 redirects can be difficult to implement (http://www.seomoz.org/learn-seo/redirection) so you might be better off trying to get earn more links and social media shares to your most powerful page.

I agree with Tina. I would also suggest you check your website for "keyword cannibalization". I suspect that you might also have this situation causing some of this. Solution by Rand at http://www.seomoz.org/blog/how-to-solve-keyword-cannibalization
If not, just concentrate on building some more content/links and it should be a matter of time. Watch your competition and see what you can find in their backlinks and content that you can't find in yours.
I hope this helps.

Hi Margaret,
If these pages are all targeting the same/similar keywords and the backlink profiles are similar as well you can do a 301 redirect from all the ranking pages to the page that is closest to the first page. Once this is done I would still focus on building more links like Tina suggested.

Hi most people think once they get to the coveted first page things will pick up, and usually it will but you will not see a noticeable improvement until you reach the top 4 listings.
Personally I would rather have a link on top of page 2 than the bottom of page 1. I would recommend you add some relevant backlinks to the site and that should push you to page one for some of your keywords.

Critical Page Problems.
As I design my new pages I place them into the page optimizer. When I place the keyword in that I am trying to rank for my page is coming up as an A. With that said, I am still receiving error messages with critical fix results. Here is a screenshot of this: http://screencast.com/t/DuUrP8xM Curious on how I should fix this? The pages are directly on my blog which makes it accessible to search engines ( So I think). Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Duplicate Content - Category Pages 2+
I have my Wordpress SEO settings to deindex past page 1 of each category. However, Google Webmasters is selling me I have 210 pages with duplicate title tags. My site tanked last weekend and I don't know if it was Google Panda or what. I have been getting some fantastic backlinks and it seems like they just decided to disregard all of them as I am completely off the SERPs. Is this duplicate content a contributing factor? How can I get google to deindex my category pages past page 1? (I do need the first page to index as that does bring me organic traffic) Thanks.

View all Page for Product Overview Pages
Hi everybody! We have an ecommerce site with product overview pages, where sometimes there are hundreds of products listed. Usually, we just display 30 and have a button where users can click to see 30 more - or all products listed at once. This is the overview page (as indexed in google): http://www.geschenkidee.ch/aussergewoehnliches.html
On-Page Optimization | | zeepartner
And this is the view-all page: http://www.geschenkidee.ch/aussergewoehnliches.html#all What should I do here? The product overview page will hardly generate more traffic by listing all products (because the overview page will rank for generic keywords, while the product keyword searches will be referred to the specific product pages themselves). I was originally thinking of using rel=canonical pointing to the view-all page. But this would just lead to longer load time. Should we just leave those overview pages or is there a best practice for how to deal with such pages? Thanks for your thoughts on this!0 -

Too Many On-Page Links
Hi All, New to SEOMoz, so thanks in advance for any answers! Looking at our Crawl Diagnostics and "Too Many On-Page Links" is first on the list. The site was build with the intention of users being able to quickly get to where they want to go with drop down menus (sub nav), so we built the navigation using bullet points/css. Yes, agreed there are too many links on each page from our navigation, main nav cats are 4 with sub nav about 40, but what is the best way to resolve the problem other then removing most of the links (from the sub nav drop down)? Could we just use the attribute rel=nofollow for the sub nav links? TIA

Google is indexing spam pages from my site. What is the most effective way to get ride of the search results? Pages are deleted now but should I do something more?
A long time ago I created a forum (Invision Power Board) and it got full of spam. Massive amounts! /forum/ I've now deleted the forum but the spam pages are still indexed on Google. Can I do something else to hurry up the process to get ride of them?

Page speed tools
Working on reducing page load time, since that is one of the ranking factors that Google uses. I've been using Page Speed FireFox plugin (requires FireBug), which is free. Pretty happy with it but wondering if others have pointers to good tools for this task. Thanks...
