How do you use a blog to help SEO.
-
Hi,
So you launch a blog on your website, fill it with lots of great content and update weekly with more great content.
From what I know your looking to gain 2 things! 1. Users linking back to your blog and 2. Sharing the content on social networks.
Building up social lists on Twitter, Facebook, Google+ etc so when you do post something new you have a hub of users to help push your post by sharing it on social networks which should also help to generate more backlinks.
Is this the main purpose of a blog for SEO? Would anything else apart from the above effect the SEO for the site? Maybe the freshness of content also has a positive impact!
Also if your blog is picking up lots of links, for this example lets say 100 links a month and the rest of the site outside of the blog is picking up 10 a month will the blogs power of picking up links effect the rest of the sites rankings, would you need to anchor text link out of the posts in the blog to make the most out of it?
Cheers

Yes and there's more... Building up social lists is very challenging, it takes time and added value. The goal is to make friends with people in your or relevant to your niche. By interacting with their posts and contributing to their posts you will also be able to find good content that they are missing or add to content that they have already created. Building a social lists requires a lot of engagement, but when done properly you win.

The main purpose of your blog should be to help your users and other users that are relevant to your niche.

The blog will help the entire site.
Include anchored text where it would make sense for your users.
Example: If I had an article about creating content:
This article is about creating content bla bla and also learn how to share content bla bla bla
I would try to include my keywords, but always think of the users. Is this going to help them learn more? Is this going to entertain them?
_The external links that are generated will be natural if your content is natural. _

We had a blog that has been inactive since 2011\. Now since the website is redesigned and we are working on link building, is it advisable to use the old blog content in the new blog?
The content of the old blog belongs to the company, hence no issues of copied content. The options I have are: 1. Use old content as is 2. Re-use old content in more interesting format i.e use info-graphics and the likes 3. Do not use any of the old content. Create new content

Keyword use in online directories
I have been adding our website to online directories which quite often allow me to add a brief description of the organization and add a list of Key words. With regards to the keywords should I list keywords from the organisiantion description that I have entered on the site or should I use the key words that we are trying to rank for, that don’t necessarily feature in the description on the site

Should I use RSS Feeds for SEO Purposes?
Hello... I am wondering if RSS feeds are good for SEO purposes... If i have a blog on my e-commerce site that links back into my site, should i then submit my feed to a bunch of RSS feed sites? Please tell me if i should be submitting my feed to all the RSS Feed Blog directories i can find or if that will appear as though i'm trying to gain links in the wrong way, from Google's perspective. For example: http://www.feedage.com/ http://www.feedlisting.com/ .... just to name a few of the directories i've found Thanks

Paid Blog Posts getting Deindexed?
Hello, We've used a popular paid blog posts platform to get back links through blog posts. Recently, performed a link audit noticed a very interesting problem. 40% of the 49 sites we purchased paid posts from, have been de-indexed. These blogs are the kinds that would take money from almost anybody in any given niche to write a review and give a paid link to you. So, I assume most of these blogs had a high number of outbound links. Their page rank has also been demoted to 0 (obviously since they're deindexed). Now, our dilemma is that should still go ahead with paid blog posts, after checking for the following: 1. PR 2. Google Penalty The sites at the time of purchasing the posts were not penalized. But 40% of the sites being completely de-indexed is a staggering number. Can someone please suggest whether to go with paid blog posts techniques or not?

Blogspot blog on sub domain
Hi, I have a blog on the blogger platform from Google and it currently sits on a sub domain which can be added into the settings. But I got a feeling Google wont see this as part of the website because when I add the sub domain into the main websites sitemap it kicks an error for it. So basically what I got is a website and an external blog. The external blog gets a post a day with an anchor text link back to the most relevant page on the main website but I have read on the SEOMOZ website that smashing one external blog is not anywhere near as effective as syndicating the content across a range of blogs. So I have an external blog with pr4 and 100 backlinks, I have to say I did not set this up it was handed over like this and I cant move the blog onsite either. I'm thinking it would have been better to have 10 blogs with pr2 with 10 backlinks on each instead. I need to double check this before I action this from now on.
