-
Hello,
If I put out too many press releases/blog entries out can google penalize the site?
Also other than wordpress or blogger are there any other free blogs that are worth while? Can hosting on the main site help also? I was thinking of hosting on the main site but I wasnt sure If I needed to buy a new domain name, or just host it as XXXXXX.com/blog
Thank you!

Can i have anchor link from my blog within my domain linking to internal pages or home page of my site? is that a good or bad practice.
-
so If i do a 301 on my current free xxx.wordpress.com blog does it matter that the name does not match?
Yes you can do a 301 redirect from one name to another, it does not need to be relevant it can be www.cat.com to www.dog.com : )
Currently my free blog is my url.wordpress.com, would it be an issue if i did a 301 on it? At that point would my free blog be dead?
I don't think this will be an issue. However I never did a 301 redirect from a free wordpress blog, I know that you can set up the 301 redirect within Google's webmaster tools. Your old feed would be redirecting (when someone types www.oldurl.com they will end up on www.newurl.com) but you can copy all the data to the new location.

I currently have a Free domain.wordpress.com blog, should I transfer that over on my own site if I am hosting?
If you transfer it make sure you can do a 301 redirect so that you keep all your link juice and avoid duplicate content.
**Also I see that wordpress charges an annual fee? is this normal for wordpress? **
Yes this is normal for wordpress.
Would I still have access to themes etc?
No you will not. They belong to wordpress.
In your opinion whats they best way to come up with a good blog name?
Well I like to include the keyword I am targeting in my URL along with my brand name. So if my brand name was Apple Bear Plant Inc. and my keyword was rabbit I would look for a URL like: ABPIrabbit.com

I was thinking having different blogs with different articles, I see my competitors using different sites, with links. Currently my blog/blogs I write content for have links in them that lead back to inner pages on my site.
Thx

Personally I like wordpress. However hosting does not have too much to do with SEO other then the location in which you are hosting. If you are hosting outside of the US it may be a bit more challenging to come up in a SERP within the US.
You can run the external blogs at the same time but why would you want to? It's better to have all your content on your page to gain your own natural backlinks and have more fresh content.

What would you recommend for hosting? which is the best source Wordpress? Currently we have a myurl.wordpress.com site, can we still run these blogs at the same time as our hosted blog? I wasnt sure if google would count link on a hosted blog.
Thank You!!

I would set up my website as www.branname.com and my blog would be www.brandname.com/blog. Create content your users will like and then they will link to and share your blog pages: www.brandname.com/blog/article : )

So I should just come up with a blog name and have it setup as xxxxxx.com/blog? should i also register a domain name?
Thanks

Hello,
If I put out too many press releases/blog entries out can google penalize the site?
Google will panelize a site for search engine manipulation. If you are linking to your site using your keyword ONLY and not using your brand name/URL it will look unnatural and you can get penalized. If you are linking a ton of sites that are not relavent to your site it will also look unnatural.
Also other than wordpress or blogger are there any other free blogs that are worth while? Can hosting on the main site help also? I was thinking of hosting on the main site but I wasnt sure If I needed to buy a new domain name, or just host it as XXXXXX.com/blog
I would recommend hosting it on your site xxxxxx.com/blog, that way when people like your articles and they link to them/share them your site gets the credit : )

New to SEO, looking for advice.
Good day. I am fairy new to SEO and a lot of things about how google ranking works is very confusing to me. For example i do not understand why websites that are not optimized score 1st positions. Currently i am working on optimizing http://logiunvarti.lv/ for google.lv. I would like to ask if i am going in the right direction as far as on-page optimization and any kind of suggestion would be very welcome. Another roadblock i have reached is link building. Latvia is not a big country and most of the websites on similar topic as my are either competitors and are have low domain authority, dead for years, or simply ignore emails. Would social media be a decent alternative? I feel like i am missing a crucial point on SEO in for my country. I would be extremely grateful for any advice or if possible to contact me on skype for a better explanation on my problem.

How Many SEO Clients Do You Have?
Hello Mozzers, I'm wondering how many clients or SEO customers you all oversee? Do you execute on your own? Do you collaborate on every client or is one person responsible for their own. Thanks

Pr4 domain backlink from a blog post
I'm about to do a guest blog post on a pr4 domain. Will I be getting an actual pr4 backlink? I'm thinking since it's technically not going to be on the homepage forever since it's just a blog post and also a blog post has it's on page once you click on it I'm not going to get a pr4 backlink. Correct?

Blog comments question
Hi, I don't tend to blog comment that much unless it's actually a genuine comment as in, my first thought wasn't gaining a link back. What is the best practise for this type of link building? This is how I do it (When I am looking to gain a link back) title - brand name website - root domain comment - I try and go above and beyond with this, take it out of the spam arena by reading the article and then replying with at least 100 words referencing to part of the article. Would you classify the above as the wrong way about it? I know some say no-follow links (most blog comments out there) don't count but when I see the external link pop up in WMT it does make me think no-follow links count for something. Cheers

What are the benefits of SEO?
If a client asks "why should I spend time and money on SEO?", how would you answer? Is "to be found in search engines" the answer? If so, wouldn't it be more cost effective to use PPC instead of SEO? Is link building a waste of time and money? Is it better to just concentrate on quality content?

Where should I be focusing SEO efforts first?
Hi everyone, I am a digital marketing intern at a small marketing business. They have a really horrible, 1990's ish website which I am currently working with them on a plan to completely redo within a few months. Until then I am fixing some issues on their current site which includes SEOing their current content that will be moved to the new site. They have a ton of issues which include, but are not limited to, missing meta descriptions and title tags, no official keywords incorporated into their content, no analytics or tracking of keywords, a poor use of social media, and duplicate content. My plan was to fix all these issues first, then when the site relaunches really start focusing on the more advanced bits (which include link building). The previous intern spent 99% of his time posting on forums building "backlinks". I've been going through his posts and saw he posted on mainly marketing forums on topics but never included any type of link back to the site in his posts or on his forum profile (his reasoning was he wanted to gain a reputation with the forum first so the admin would not delete his posts or so he'd be able to put a link in his signature). He and the owner of the business say that this is the best and most effective way to help SEO and the owner is questioning whether or not I concentrate on that instead of the other issues. So what do you think? Do you think I should be fixing all these issues first and waiting until the site relaunches to concentrate on forum backlinking? Or do you think it would be more effective to just focus on my energies on forum backlinking? Also - the previous intern also told the owner that Wordtracker was a poor investment and is not useful. I have always thought that was sort of an industry standard. Do you think he's right? If so could you recommend something else? Any thoughts are appreciated. Thanks 🙂

Posting "similar" blog posts to multiple blog sites seems "shady", does it work?
I've read a lot of info here in the Q & A tonight and there was a thread that stated it's potentially a good thing to post content on multiple blog platforms such as: blogger.com posterous.com wordpress.com tumblr.com I've also been trying to figure out how to deal with my blog as a subfolder instead of a subdomain. That research in Q & A clearly indicates that Google treats subdomains basically like separate websites and links from my blog to my main website will not be as valuable if i stay the course with my blog on a subdomain short term. Given that, if the 4 blogging tools above all require the use of a subdomain, then how am I actually taking advantage of the seo value of blogger, posterous, tumblr? In my case my domains would be: steripen.blogger.com posterous.tumbler.com steripen.wordpress.com steripen.tumblr.com Just not adding up to being viable given what I read states these would be treated as new websites, not to mention I worry these posts, even slightly differentiated, would be suspect. Who am I truly benefitting by doing this? Users?
