Yahoo directory listing issue
-
Hello all,
We submit our site http://tinyurl.com/5v9hrql to Yahoo's directory (Standard Listing) on 08/26/2012 at this time the order remains as pending and the site is not listed on our suggested category http://tinyurl.com/d4a5lyf
Furthermore, we haven't gotten any email from Yahoo Team; something is wrong with our submission or need to contact to?
Thank you for your help

Don't get me started on trying to contact Yahoo re their directory listings!
They sent us an invoice for a listing I wanted to cancel, when I replied to their email I received a reply saying the emails don't get checked and another email to try. That one also failed. They also supplied a link in the email to edit the listing - the link was broken.
I found a support page, the captcha for the email for was broken. etc etc
Agree with Broadbeach on this one,
"Waste of money and time."

Do you see any wrong with our site?

I just looked at the category http://tinyurl.com/d4a5lyf and I can't find our site, any idea if I have to send any email to support asking for listing? Where can I submit this to get one response?
Thank you

Hey Claudio,
We had the exact same issue at the start of last year. The payment went through without an issue, but finding our listing was a nightmare. For some reason if you typed in the company name it wouldn't show up; but if you went through categories eventually you would reach the listing.
Waste of money and time.

SEO issues with removing a forum from a site
I'm thinking of adding a Discourse discussion forum to one of my websites. I'm not sure if it's going to be something that works well or not for the site. So I'm thinking ahead and wondering what Google issues I could have if after a few months of having the forum, I decide to remove it. What would Google think about all the then non-existent pages it might have indexed? Would there be a simple wildcard redirect I could do in htaccess that would satisfy that? Or some other thing I should do?

Google webmaster tool (GWT) owner removal issue
Hi! I have a new client, the former agency added the client property with the agency account so we had to create a new GA account (as you can’t transfer ownership at the account level) but we also kept access to the former account to keep historical data. We were granted owner access to the GWT (which is more flexible, you can remove owners and creators) and we now want to remove former agency users. We have 3 adresses. One was verified with delegation method (no pb for removal), one with meta tag (no pb) and one with Google Analytics. Here it becomes tricky as Google says regarding GA verif method “If this account was verified using a Google Analytics tracking code, you should make sure that the user you want to unverify is no longer an administrator on the Analytics account. Otherwise, removal may not be permanent”. The thing is that this user has the same email address as the one used to create the agency GA account (no ownership transfer) so I basically can’t remove admin rights. The other possibility, as Google mentions when I try to unlink this user, is “remove the administrator status in Google Analytics or delete the Google Analytics tracking code on the website”. But we don’t want to remove the code as we still want to track data with the former account for historical analysis purposes. Has anyone ever faced this situation? Do you know how to handle this? Do you think that unlinking the GWT and the GA accounts will unverify the GA method? Many thanks in advance ! Ennick

Silo This! Siloing issue with KW targets and multiple categories
I am having a difficult time determining how to silo the content for this website (douwnpour). The issue I am having is that as I see it there are several different top-level keyword targets to put at the top of the silos, however due to the nature of the products they fit in almost every one of the top-level categories. For instance our main keyword term is "Audio Books" (and derivatives thereof). but we also want to target "Audiobook Downloads" and "Books on CD". Due to the nature of the products, almost every product would fit in all 3 categories. It gets even worse when you consider normal book taxonomy. The normal breakdown would be from audiobooks>Fiction(or Nonfiction). Now each product also belongs to one of these categories, as well as "download", "CD", and "Audiobook". And still worse, our navigation menus link every page on the site back to all of these categories (except audiobooks, as we don't really have a landing page for that besides the home page, which is lacking in optimized content, but is linked from every page on the site.) So, I am finding siloing, or developing a cross-linking plan that makes sense very difficult. It's much easier at the lower levels, but at the top things become muddy. Throw in the idea that we may eventually get e-books as well, and it gets even muddier. I have some ideas of how to deal with some of this, such as having the site navigation put in an i frame, instituting basic breadcrumbs, and building landing pages, but I'm open to any advice or ideas that might help, especially with the top level taxonomy structure. TIA!

Duplicate content on the same page--is this an issue?
We are transitioning to responsive design and some of our pages will not scale properly, so we were thinking of adding the same content twice to the same URL (one would be simple text -- for mobile and the other would include the images, etc for the desktop version), and content would change based on size of the screen. I'm not looking for another technical solution (I know google specifies that you can dynamically serve different content based on user agent)--I am wondering if any one knows if having the same exact content appear twice on the same URL will cause a problem with SEO (any historical tests or experience would be great). Thank you in advance.

Google Cache Redirection Issue? Or awaiting DNS Propagation?
We have just launched an Australian version of our .com site. The domain example.com.au used to redirect automatically to example.com. We updated the DNS to point to our new Australian site on 13 August and have started a two week soft launch to iron out issues and allow us to start the indexing process. The issue is, when I'm checking to see if we have been crawled yet, if I do I search for: cache:http://www.example.com.au The cache automatically redirects to http://www.example.com and shows the cache for that site. The date on the cache is: 14 Aug 2012 20:47:34 GMT. My question is, have I missed something during this process or are we just waiting for the DNS change to fully propagate?

Multiple URL's exist for the same page, canonicaliazation issue?
All of the following URL's take me to the same page on my site: 1. www.mysite.com/category1/subcategory.aspx 2. www.mysite.com/subcategory.aspx 3. www.mysite.com/category1/category1/category1/subcategory.aspx All of those pages are canonicalized to #1, so is that okay? I was told the following my a company trying to make our sitemap: "the site's platform dynamically creates URLs that resolve as 200 and should be 404. This is a huge spider trap for any search engine and will make them wary of crawling the site." What would I need to do to fix this? Thanks!
