How can i locate the links on my site that are causing 404 errors?

In the 404 error report, there is no way to find what page on my site has the broken link.. how can i find them???

help.

Actually, if you download the report to a CSV you'll see the referring URLs that 404.

I personally like to use Screaming Frog. It is very intuitive to use and works really well.

To find the broken links in Screaming Frog:

1. Run crawl

2. Select 'Response Codes' tab

3. Select Filter 'Client Error (4xx)'

4. To see which pages are linking to the 404 pages, go to the bottom and select 'In Links'

Matt, You might want to use a spider/crawling tool on your website and find the broken links.* Find broken links on your site with Xenu's Link Sleuth* Screaming Frog SEO Spider

Both of these tools will be able to crawl your website and find any 404's and the origin/linking pages. I hope this helps.

Use Xenu or Screaming Frog to find the pages that have broken links on your website. Just download and run and the end, it'll show you where they are located.

Where is the link prospecting tool?

I feel like last year when Moz was still SEOMoz I used a beta tool that would help you build a bunch of queries for link prospecting. You would tell it what your sites about and a few other pieces of information, and it would give you a list of google queries to get you started (ie inurl:directory <industryname> +"add site"</industryname>). However, I'm having a hard time finding this tool, or any reference to it on the web. It's also possible that it wasn't a moz tool but I'm misremembering where I found it. Does anybody have any idea what I'm talking about?

Site Optimisation for ktichens!!

Hey Guys, I am about to begin to optimise this site www.stuartandersonkitchens.co.uk for some keywords such as edinburgh kitchens, quality kitchens edinburgh etc as he is based in edinburgh. I am also going to be doing some work behind the bones of the site optimisiing alt, meta data, micro data etc. Also I am thinking about creating a FB, Twitter, Youtube profile and possibly adding him to a few directories (DMOZ etc), some local & running a small adwords campaign using the freebie credits. I will be altering some of the content in order to have it more amicable to the engines. Is there any other advice anyone would like to give me, where I could improve in order to have him seen on the search engines. Be great to here your take on this. Thanks again, Craig

What I mean by this is we have a linkbuilder working for us and I'm looking for to record there progress with link building I've seen somthing in Majestic but is there one in SEOMOZ All teh best Steve

Crawl Errors Confusing Me

The SEOMoz crawl tool is telling me that I have a slew of crawl errors on the blog of one domain. All are related to the MSNbot. And related to trackbacks (which we do want to block, right?) and attachments (makes sense to block those, too) ... any idea why these are crawl issues with MSNbot and not Google? Why are inbound links not showing up?

I'm new to SEOmoz but have a question regarding inbound links that I don't see posted in the forum. In order to become more familiar with SEOmoz tools, I've been checking out sites that friends and family members have created as practice. Things have been going really smooth until I came across a 2+ year old page that should have included an inbound link from wsj.com but said link is not appearing in OSE for this page. Background: A friend of mine has a (basically) defunct blog that had a pretty well trafficked posting in 2009. However, when I use OSE to check out both the domain and page inbound links, I don't see the aforementioned inbound link from wsj.com. Why is that? Or, it's insanely late - am I missing something? What causes Crawl Diagnostics Processing Errors in seomoz campaign?

I'm getting the following error when seomoz tries to spider my site: First Crawl in Progress! Processing Issues for 671 pages Started: Apr. 23rd, 2011 Here is the robots.txt data from the site: Disallow ALL BOTS for image directories and JPEG files. User-agent: * Disallow: /stats/ Disallow: /images/ Disallow: /newspictures/ Disallow: /pdfs/ Disallow: /propbig/ Disallow: /propsmall/ Disallow: /*.jpg$ Any ideas on how to get around this would be appreciated 🙂
