Hi Vikram,
That's very odd if the links were removed 4 months ago and are still showing up in OSE. Our index is updated monthly and never uses cached information. And OSE pulls directly from the index.
I'd love to check into it more for you if you can give me some examples. If you'd not comfortable putting that information here, you can email me at help@seomoz.org and include all that information.
Thanks, let me know.
Cheers,
Joel. -
Hi Vikram, With one of my sites, GWT is still showing links that were removed over 4 months ago. OSE was much better and stopped showing them in under a month. I guess you will have to wait it out. We actually submitted the list from GWT to the Google disavow tool just for good measure. I am not saying this is what you have to do. I am just reporting what we have done. Mash

Yes, i/m talking about "inbound links from other sites?"
no i'm not receiving traffic from them.
those links were removed 2-3 months back.

OSE can still report links that have been deleted due to it not being updated on a daily basis
The last Open Site Explorer index update was on the 8th October. How long ago did you delete these links?
Just to clarify, inbound links from other sites? If this is the case, are you still receiving traffic from these links which is being reported in GA?

i'm taking about inbound links which are removed long ago.
those links are still showing as inbound links in GA and in Open Site Explorer.
i want to remove those links from GA/Open Site Explorer

Should you avoid links from infographic sites?
Suppose you have an interesting infographic that you are promoting. Should you be cautious about having it published on sites that only publish infographics? Do you think these sites pass any link value?

Feedback on Link Removal Services
Hi Guys, Not looking for a debate on whether or not to use link removal services (linkdelete.com, deletebacklinks.com etc), I'm just interested in hearing any feedback you may have after having used one. What was your experience with the service? Do you believe it helped you recover from a penalty? Cheers.

Are link exchanges bad for SEO these days? Also, is adding my site to free yet relevent directory sites a bad idea?
I operate a computer services company in Eugene, Oregon called "Eugene Computer Geeks". We do a lot of web design, and need incoming links to my site very badly. Lately I've been asking clients if they would link to me, but they almost always ask for a link in return. If we exchange links, does Google penalize my site? Would the incoming link be better for SEO if I'm not linking back to the other site? ALSO Is it possible that manually submitting my site to free, yet relevant web directories would hurt my rankings? It's not a big deal to me if it doesn't help my rankings, as I see a benefit to having my site listed, but wanted to make sure there wasn't a chance that it would hurt my rankings. As far as I know all the directories are free from SPAM, porn, warez, or anything like that. Thanks!

Importing Open Site Explorer Into Raven Tools
I have just started to use SEOMOZ and Raven Tools at the same time. What is the easiest way to import Open Site Explorer link data (.csv extension) into Raven Tools so that I can manage my link building campaigns? If somebody knows an easy way to do that I will appreciate. Thanks in advance!

Numerous (20K+) inbound links from ONE site in short time period
I'm somewhat new to SEO, but from what I understand, slow link growth can provide better results than highly aggressive link building campaigns. A site of mine was recently featured on a 90+ DA (55 PA) blog directory, and was featured for the entire state, therefore I received almost 20,000 inbound links from the site (from every company/listing in the state). The links have been mostly recorded (17,000) in Google webmaster tools (Yahoo Site Explorer claims around 23,000). However the site dropped 2 pages in rankings for numerous SEO related keywords since webmaster tools listed the links. Many of them are PA 50+, though a majority of the linking pages are PA 1. A few other inbound links were created from other root domains, roughly 8-10 or so in the past month. The question is, would a large amount of links like this all of a sudden trigger some kind of "penalty" from search engines (Google, especially)? And, do the PA 1 pages take away from the quality of the 55 PA links?

Do sites on the same c-block and same server count as seperate linking root domains when linking to each other?
Lets say there are 50 businesses who have their website on the same server and are on the same c-block but the owners of the individual sites are different (i.e. they are all completely different sites not relevant to each other). Each of those sites are linking to each other due to a feature on the sites. This obviously increases the number of total links to each site but does it also increase the number of linking root domains? Or does this just show up as one linking root domain due to all of them being on the same server and the sharing the same c-block?

New ways to get links (excluding on site link bait)?
Fellow SEOs, I’m looking for a new way to reach out to bloggers and site owners for links. There are quite a few link bait techniques to lure bloggers thanks to = amazing content, infographics,...but there are not so many articles on ways to contact bloggers/webmasters and ask for links... We all know that contacting site owners directly and politely asking then to place a link on their home page is as useful as a comb in Bruce willis’s hand. Link exchange is as dead as the Dodo and business partner links are usefull and easier to get but opportunities are often limited. I have been organizing contests for bloggers recently and it has been quite successful up to now, but I always like to have a spare trick up my sleeve. So if any of you have a decent method to reach out to bloggers/webmaster and get decent links please let me know, I will be forever thankful ; ) Cheers

Why does Open Site Explorer list Twitter and Facebook links for one of my sites and not others
One of my sites has the nofollow backlink listed for Facebook and Twitter while 2 other sites do not. All 3 sites have had accounts for over a year. Does the amount of interactivity with the social media profiles have to do with it? I know it is a nofollow link but I was just curious as those profiles might help with the brand signal etc.
