Challenge: How to SEO a site with almost no content
-
Wondering what you all would recommend for SEO on this site:
Most of their content is behind a login. Basically there are 5 pages open to Google and to anyone without that login, and they are not open to doing it differently at this time. Once in, there will be a lot of sharing with Facebook friends that will include invitations to join them in their causes.
Love to hear all your recommendations.

Thanks guys. I should probably clarify. I do know what to do on the site itself. And I have several ideas on what to do to build inbound links( in which social will play a large part) as I realize that is their only hope of ranking. I plan to target universities that have social good programs to try and get on their radar as one example. I'll also be looking for guest blogging opportunities on related sites. And we'll also be doing Facebook campaigns. The whole site is social and is built around the concept of social good sharing. So as we get users, the buzz will happen because the system invites it. But I'm looking for ways to get Google to notice even without that happening yet.
Clearly, given that there is no content to speak of, inbound links and social shares, tweets and the likes are critical. But, given the competition and the lack of content, this is a very difficult task. Love to hear any creative ideas to do so if you have them.
We've been recommending more content, but they won't listen. So I plan to share your comments here in the form of an audit report and in the hopes of getting them to comply. If anyone has any good supporting data to prove the data, I'd love to see that as well. Thanks for backing me on the need for more content! Keep those recommendations coming! Thanks.

I think you are misunderstanding the purpose of Google Tag Manager. The meta keyword tag is ignored except in cases of site search.
To OP:
Social media is going to be your main source of traffic here, IMO. It doesn't mean you should completely ignore natural search optimization, but that the best way to drive traffic to your site is through social media. The rankings will come with traffic/shares/backlinks.

Hey Mark if you still think that meta keywords have no impact on rankings then you are wrong. Actually meta keywords became a part of on-page optimization again and as a proof for that Google has lunched Google Tag Manager.
At the same time everything what belongs to on page optimization has an impact on rankings.
Cheers,
Russel

Meta-Keywords have no impact on ranking though.
Kathy, you will need to add more content to the pages that are public. Focus on the specific keywords you wish to rank for and improve the on-page SEO for these terms.
Also, from what I can see, there are no backlinks pointing to the site. You should focus on attracting links from high authority websites within the sector.

From my side I will recommend to add some more text on front page, otherwise it will not be so easy to achive high rankings by highly competetive keywords.
- Title tag is very simple and not informative. It can be something like this:
"Gudville - Discover, lead and support causes you care about" - Add meta keywords and meta description
Cheers,
Russel

How to get started with a brand new site and domain name and prioritize content creation?
Hi there. I just bought a Moz Pro membership with the goal to start with a new domain name and create a content channel. The domain name is completely fresh so it doesn't have any authority or trust associated with it. I did initial keyword research with the Google Keyword Tool for the niche I want to address and know what content I can get out. I would like to prioritize content creation based on what will rank easily in Google and then work my way up from there. Do you have ideas on how I could best prioritize these keywords to this? How can I identify the low hanging fruit for getting some incoming links to my website such that there is already some incoming link juice? (without using any black hat tricks) Any hints or tips are greatly appreciated. Thanks! PS: The website is in Europe where the blogosphere is really underdeveloped for the niche.

Which is More Powerful? Content or Backlinks: Ecommerce Sales
Hello, Which do you guys think would bring in more sales: doubling the content across all category pages and top 30 products, or getting 10% more good unique root domain backlinks from broken link building? 350 products in total 50 main categories 150 subcategories. Product page content would be frequently asked questions for the product and would be added by the site owner who is an expert. Thanks.

Very Frustrated SEO
Hi Guys, I wake up this morning one very frustrated, tired and fed up SEO. I have always used very traditional link building methods upto last year directory submissions, social bookmarks, article submissions and maybe a few profie links but I always up front and honest with my clients what they were getting for their buck!. and sent them reports showing all links done. Obviously with the recent algorithm changes, I have switched my focus to content marketing (i hear you all cheering lol), however, I am stumped!. I have read everything I can get hold of to do with content marketing, registered with buzzstream for outreach opportunities and joined myblogguest just so I could understand the process a little bit more. I have watched the whiteboard Fridays and actually have a great opportunity to get in with a site using "guest post + niche". I love writing content which is a bonus. Okay here's my moan. Coming from a traditional SEO background and coming to content marketing late, do I ditch everything else. Is content marketing all I should be doing? or can I still do the some directory submissions (good PR moz rank only), social bookmarking (only for content marketing articles), profile linking (maybe I need to drop altogether). Is content marketing enough to rank a client?. I look at some clients competitors links and they have 100's of links to stuff that looks unnatural. Kind Regards Neil

Links from Domain Portfolio Advertising Sites
I recently purchased a domain from a someone with a large portfolio and my site's link is still found on thousands of his one page/low quality sites. I find these links on Open Site Explorer but not in WT. Should I ask the portfolio owner to remove the link from his low quality domain advertising sites?

Good Content Writing | How do I convince them?
Mozzers, I work in-house for a large lead generation for matchmakers. We do really well with PPC and that will always be there. They will always do PPC but have hired me to do SEO. We're ranking really good for some competitive key phrases as well. I believe in good content. I feel we should have a quality control for content just like we do before we run a a/b or a multivariate test. However there are people here who would rather pay $3 on oDesk for a article than a much higher price. How have you convinced your bosses or your clients that good quality content is the way to go? I've hassled for good links and got in contact with some bloggers who are ready to let us Guest Blog who have never done so before. What would you do?
