Is my blog simply duplicate content of my authors' profiles?
-
is the full list of blog posts by various writers. The list contains the title of each article and the first paragraph from the article.
In addition to /blog being indexed, each author's contribution list is being indexed separately. It's not a profile, really, just a list of articles in the same title & paragraph format of the /blog page.
So if /blog a list of 10 articles written by two writers, I have three pages:
/blog/author1 is a list of 4 articles
/blog/author2 is a list of 6 different articles
/blog is a list of 10 articles (the 4+6 from the two writers)
Is this going to be considered duplicate content?
-
From the CMS point of view, it is mainly published by one person.
I might ask a professional in the particular field to write an article about something related to my products and then post it as my brand, with an introduction about the author.

Are you facing any ranking issues on your homepage / author pages ? Do you even want your author pages to rank ? Considering your answer, I'd suggest adding a noindex tag on your author profile pages, specially since you only have 2 authors.
-
This is primarily a concern for one author blogs -- if your main blog index page has a nice mix of posts from various authors, and doesn't match a lot of content from the individual author pages, you will be fine.
-
The articles are posted by two people, so the the blog and author pages are quite similar.
If a third author wrote about "this-subject", I would have a page called:
and urls /blog & /blog/author3 would each display the title and first paragraph from the /this-subject url
/blog would now have 11 article titles and first paragraphs

What happens when you add a new article by Author3 ?
/blog/author1 is a list of 4 articles
/blog/writer2 is a list of 6 different articles
/blog/writer3 is a list of 1 article?
/blog is a list of recent 10 articles (the 1+4+6 from the two writers), /blog/page2 getting the 11th article ?
If this is the case, I would not worry too much about it. Homepage is set to recent articles and each author has it's own page. As you add/update more articles, more authors maybe, it's more different. It's a dynamic blog. A typical structure. I would not worry too much about it.
If you are concerned, you can set a noindex on your write pages.

Duplicate content? - Ecommerce reviews loading the same products on every page
Hello there! I use a plugin on my ecom site that shows customer reviews - not product reviews but general shopping experience reviews. The plugin also loads links and short descriptions of products those customers bought. Having installed it site-wide, on every page there are short descriptions of the same products. Of course, as people leave new reviews the content changes (but it doesn't happen very often). So the question is: Is having links and short descriptions of the same products on every page harmful for SEO in this case? I'd be grateful for any insight into this matter.

Wordpress 'Hide Title' Feature, does this help shorten title length
Im wondering if anyone with some Wordpress experience can help me. I am using Yoast to create my page titles, but yet Moz tells me that my page titles including my actual page title tag which is 'dumfries wedding photography | Hemera Visuals' by clicking on the 'hide title' feature in wordpress will this in turn stop wordpress from automatically adding my page title and therfor bring my title length down drastically? And if so will I have to wait till google next crawls my page to see if this works? Kind Regards Cameron.

Should I change PDF content?
Hi everybody, My Website is ranking well for several keywords and long-tail keywords. However, all these visits are going directly to some .PDF guides that exist on our products and information on industry sectors the company is based around. I feel the PDF's are bad simply because they dont offer easy interaction with the rest of the website. I am considering making each PDF into a webpage but am not 100% sure of the pro's and cons of doing so. I will still need to the PDF's accessible for user to download but don't want my new webpages to get tagged as duplicate content. Is it possible to,

1 - change the PDF's so they send any link authority to the new webpage
2 - make google aware that I want the webpage not the PDF to be the "ranking" page What is the likely hood of destroying my rank for these keywords on the PDF by making these changes and then not being able to rank the webpage for the same keywords? It would be pointless if I just lost all the traffic lol.0 -

Issue: Duplicate Page Content
For duplicate page content, how different should pages be? For example, I have seven locations and on each location page, we offer a discount. The discounts are the same currently and open into a pop-up window. So it looks something like this: mysite.com/locationA/dicount mysite.com/locationB/discount mysite.com/locationX/discount The pages are identical. Should I change the verbiage on each page or let it be? I noticed that our organic search rankings have dropped since our site upgrade and this is one item that SEOMOZ has noted. Thanks! DHO

Mobile blog creating duplicate title and content issues
My site is set up with a mobile website and after running the on page SEO report on moz it is returning multiple errors for duplicate title tags and duplicate content all related to the mobile website being a direct reflection of the main site. I want to know if this is really an issue. I'm sure Google actually knows the difference between my main site and the mobile version. Do I really need to go through each individual mobile page and change each page title and modify all the content? I really would like to avoid doing this but at the same time would like to fully optimize my site. Any advice is appreciated.

What's the best practice for implementing a "content disclaimer" that doesn't block search robots?
Our client needs a content disclaimer on their site. This is a simple "If you agree to these rules then click YES if not click NO" and you're pushed back to the home page. I have this gut feeling that this may cause an upset with the search robots. Any advice? R/ John
