Would it make sense to add a no-follow to About, Sign In, Join Us, Privacy, Terms of Use etc?
-
Hi everyone,
In order to increase link juice for relevant interlinks, wouldn't it make sense to attribute no-follow to the following interlinks: About Us, Sign In, Join Us, Terms of Use, Privacy Policy, Security, Contact Us, Home (assuming brand name / logo also links to homepage), and any page where there are 2 or more links directing to the same page.
Thank you,
Kristian

thank you. I appreciate this. I run a job board and I noticed the most successful job search engine - indeed.com - no follow page numbers. Example: if run a search for "Los Angeles" jobs you get thousands of hits and at the bottom of each page the page numbers you can jump between (1,2 3, next, etc) are all set as no-follow. They have also set Sign In as no follow. I see careerbuilder also has a few no-follows. This does not mean they are right, but it is interesting for me to observe, since these are the heavyweights in my industry. I run this site by the way www.hawaiijobengine.com

First, you cannot prevent link juice from being distributed or spent by nofollowing a link. The link juice still flows, it just doesn't go anywhere ..it just evaporates.
Second, nofollow is like saying you don't trust this page or you can't vouch for it. Why would you tell Google that you don't trust your own pages ? For that reason, I never use nofollow on internal links.
Third, I don't think you even need to worry about those pages getting juice. It's natural. It might be even a quality signal in Google's algos if they can see that you have a contact page, or privacy policy, or details like an address or telephone number on the about page. Bad sites tend to not have those things.

It is not recommended to add the no follow attribute on those pages because it might be treated as scupting and harm the site. Typically only have pages behind an admin login not indexed using the "no follow" for obvious reasons. (you dont want those URL's Indexed by google and the info pubicly available without logging in.

Should I embark on this long term link building campaign?
I've been planning to set out on a massive link building campaign for the term 'how to start a business' and I can't decide if it's a good idea or not. (Metrics attached - my site is the last listed and the ones above it are the top ranking for that term) The sites ranking for that terms are on very authoritative domains, but the page link profiles on each of them are poor. This is one of those moments where you think, 'Am I about to waste a tremendous amount of time?' My guide is extremely thorough and I had hoped with a MASSIVE amount of elbow grease outranking pages that had poor content value + only has 4 referring root domains. The problem is, I'm not sure if the powerful overall domain authority would still outrank my newer site. Should I follow through with that general guide or focus on less hard to rank and less searched content? Argh confusion GB3jcsJ.png?1

How come www.ifundinternational.com beat us despite that most links seems VERY shady?
How can ifundinternational.com with TONS of spammy links rank 70 keywords in TOP20 in the competitive hard money lending industry? They seem to go AGAINS ALL WHITE HAT SEO and all rules by Panda, Penguing and Hummingbird. Just frustrating that they get away with it. What to do about it?

Should I use general keywords or city specific keywords for back link campaign?
I am working on a new client that offer appliance repair in all of california and I was wondering would it be ok if I just target general keywords like "appliance repair" instead of city specific keywords like "los angeles appliance repair" for the back link campaign . I am sure city specific would be better for rankings, but would the general keywords help local seo at all? What is the best way to go about this with out having to make a city specific page for all listings? thanks

Has Anyone used Eyeflow SEO out of Pittsburgh
We are looking to have a third party do some white hat link building for us because we currently do not have the resources to do so in house and do not want to rush into a hire. We are looking at eyeflow because they are local to our area and we would have the opportunity to personally see how they do things. Has anyone had any experience with them, or have any suggestions for things to ask or be weary of? Thanks

In the Yahoo link directory you can submit paid or free, which do you use?
Has anyone here had any luck getting Yahoo to pickup links submitted through the free option? How long does this generally take? Or do you usually just pay the $300/year on your clients behalf? Or do you get your client to cover it? I couldn't direct link the page because you have to in a directory when you hit submit, but it looks like this screen shot: www.glitchhopforum.com/images/yahoo.png
