Adwords Conversion Optimiser
-
OK Mozers! Here's the situation (my parents went away on a weeks vacation...)
• I am managing an online furniture retail website Infurn .com
• Our budget is 500 euro per day and we need basically 20% cost per sale and im hovering at 30 - 35%
• I recently was given the opportunity to participate in The Conversion Optimiser which allows you to set a desired CPA and Google works its magic geting you that target by adjusting your bids accordingly using historical campaign data.
• Is this something I should use? Or should I continue to hone my ad groups, bids, products, landing pages, and ad copy until I reach my 15 - 20% CPA goal?
Thanks!

EGOL is quite correct regarding the profitability of Adwords campaigns particularly in highly competitive spaces. I think it's really important to have a clear idea of what the Lifetime value is for customers acquired through this channel, so you know when to hold and know when to gold int terms of ad and keyword bids.

I agree with Dana.
If you are a reasonably smart person who understands products, pricing, quality score, landing pages, google bidding/ranking methods, profit then you will probably get better results doing the bidding yourself.
Of, course, it is still possible to be an expert at all of the above and not be able to make a profit using adwords because the competition is cannibalistic.

You are welcome. Yes, you know the same is true when evaluating site performance in Google Analytics. We were recently researching what day of the week and time of day would be best for email sends. If we'd just chosen the day and time with the most revenue, it would have been totally skewed by one $5,000 sale that came in on an normally slow day at an even slower time. You have to mix your analysis with common sense. An algorithmic "Conversion Optimizer" isn't capable of inserting the "common sense" part of the equation...at least not yet!

I would agree with Dana. We tried it for one of our clients spending $1000 a day in the franchising industry and our results plumetted. It reduced our impressions massively thus impacting our # of leads and increasing our cost per lead. Some things are just done best the good ole fashioned manual way :):)

Thanks Dana, that is not the first time I have read that someone had that experience. Nothing compares to "hand-optimizing" each keyword one at a time

Hi kynduvme,
I think the Conversion Optimizer is something that maybe works well for some and not at all for others. I have tried it several times on e-commerce sites, both large and small. I never got as good results when it was enabled as when I just optimized the campaigns myself. In fact, across the board when I used it my cost per conversion went up and my conversion rates went down. This is just my own personal experience. I think it's something worth testing on one campaign to see how it goes in your individual situation. Hope that helps!
Dana

SEO and Conversions from a C-Level perspective
Hi guys! Do you have any suggestion about articles about how to work with conversions and SEO from a C-level perspective? I know it is very open question, but there might be articles like (https://moz.com/ugc/how-can-pr-seo-and-ceo-people-work-together-for-link-building) that are great and written on this subject. Could you please share if you have any examples? I'm thinking for these perspectives: What knowledge and insight does a management team need to take control and drive the SEO and CRO related work (from a executive level)? How do the management team connect business strategy and goals with the SEO and CRO area? Have a great day!

Increase conversion rate to buy
I am trying to understand why my women fashion site has a very low conversion, basically zero apart from some occasional sales (last one a few months ago) There is a lack of organic traffic the to shop subdomain, but what worries me is that (email/social media) campaigns to existing clients who happily buy repeatedly from our brick and mortar store do not generate results, despite using promotion codes etc. Before investing heavily in PPC campaigns etc, I'd like to improve conversion. Any advice on what can be improved ? PD: link can be found in my profile.

Has anyone ever used Adwords' Forwarding Numbers as a Call Tracking Service?
Hi, I was taking over a client's Adwords account from a previous agency. It appears the former agency added the Google Forwarding Number (for call tracking on call extensions) and added it to the client's website. Therefore, if anyone calls that number from the website, it would register within Adwords (just not as a conversion but as a click under "call extensions") The problem: you can't filter by phone number (the same number calling +1 would indicate spam) you can filter by device (so tablet / computer) can be considered spam generally. Questions: Anyone ever used this before? Your thoughts? Does anyone know if there is spam coming from mobile devices now-a-days? Please tell me what I'm missing. Any advice / anyone else seen this / done this? Thanks Moz Community, Cole

Brand Name: Conversion Rate Optimizing: Eponymous VS Generic
Good day all, We are entertaining the idea of changing the Domain Name & Brand Name for straplessfashion.com. While still in development, the website sells women undergarments. We did some survey research and it seems that women (age 18-40) really liked either "Demi's Dream" or "Almost Skin" as a good name. More specifically, Almost Skin seems to be the more popular choice over "Demi's Dream". I think "Almost Skin" catches attention quicker and may work best in PPC. However, when personalizing a brand name is considered, "Demi's Dream" might be the best choice. Would you please offer your advise on which of these two names might be the best for a new Domain and Brand name for the website mentioned above? Which would convert better? Thank you for your help. Carlos

What is the B2B Benchmark for PPC Landing Page Conversions
I work for a B2B software company and have recently begun implementing PPC via Adwords. I was wondering what you guys use as a standard benchmark for a successful landing page, specifically conversion rate? Conversion rate being defined as someone clicking to the landing page, then clicking on a link or filling out a form on the landing page.

Adwords shows clicks but no conversions in GA
Hi Folks, I was wondering if anyone has come across a similar situation, I have setup adwords campaigns and included these in my Google Tag Manager setup and deployed the GTM snippet to a clients site. In adwords I can see clicks (2,000+) however in Google Analytics I can see only a handful ot conversions. Is there anyway I can test/track a conversion to ensure that it is being processed and report correctly? Also within AdWords Conversion Tracking I have noticed that under the "Webpages" tab that pages other than the pages that should have the conversion code on them are listed. Have I setup my Adwords camapign or GTM tags incorrectly? Any and all feedback or insight would be greatly welcomed and appreciated.

Conversion Rate boost - Website Feedback
We are a relatively young company with an Okay conversion rate of around 2% across several different sales channels. I am mentioning this because our website with the same type of products has a very low conversion rate of under 1%. I know this is a deep topic, involving different analytic metrics, but would like to ask MOZ community members if there's anything obvious that needs improvement on this website www.cherrywalls.com that would help to increase conversions. I will be happy to answer any additional questions or to clarify things! Thank you for your time! Any suggestions and/or critique are greatly appreciated!

What is the best solution to track conversions on local plumbing site (non-mobile)?
What is the best solution to track conversions on our local plumbing site? 95% of leads coming from phone calls, the rest – from the contact form we have on every page. Is there a reliable solutions to track conversion rate for non-mobile local site? As a side note, we have 6 different phone numbers on our site that users can call in order to reach us.
