Why do you call it a Campaign?
-
I'm trying out PRO and have a simple question. Why do you call the main organizational unit in this tool a "Campaign"?
"Campaign" makes me think of advertising or direct mail - run over a specific period of time to a specific audience. But, "Campaign" in SEOmoz PRO seems to mean a collection of keywords plus a domain.
Is the idea that I'm investing time an money in this collection of keywords in some sort of a structured campaign (using SEO techniques) and then using PRO to track performance against a baseline?
By the way, the tool seems great and I love the useful data it provides. I guess I'm really trying to understand the SEO mindset the underpins the design of PRO.
Thanks for any help!

Or that they're terrorists!

In the SEOmoz dashboard context, it means a domain and a collection of keywords.
I suspect they decided to set the tool up this way and needed a label for this function, and chose this word because it seemed suitable.

Thanks for answering my post.
I can't think of a better name. Campaign is fine. I'm just trying to understand what "campaign" means in the SEO context.

Hi Mark
SEOMOZ Pro tool helps a lot in many ways like Weekly Crawls & Rank Tracking, On-Page Recommendations, Competitive Analysis, Continual Improvement, etc... Here is the best overview on SEOMOZ Pro tool : http://www.seomoz.org/webinars/seomoz-pro-tool-overview...
Let me know if it helps you.

Hi Mark, sounds like you grasp the basic concept of what the SEO Campaign entails as such, out of curiosity what would be a better name for it?
Other things the Campaign does not mentioned in your description is providing weekly updates on page optimizations reports, traffic via source type (brand, organic, paid), crawl reports, link analysis and competitive analysis.
It is a little funny when you think about what words mean, it is almost relative to the person whom hears them. We recently started labeling our production workers locations to help us track inventory, after much debate we decided to name the locations as manufacturing cells, or cells for short. All was great until the production workers showed up and said they now have an underlying feeling they are in prison.

Campaign Keyword Overview?
This may be more of a developmental comment, however... Is there any way to pull an overview of keyword ranking over the week (or any period of time) for one of your campaigns? It looks like you can pull graphs on individual keyword performance, however not for the full set of keywords for a campaign. Anyone have suggestions on how to do this within Pro Moz... or is it best to compile the keyword data every week and track it in Numbers or Excel? Thanks everyone!

Campaign Reports Question
Hello everyone. I'm new to SEOMOZ and sort of a beginner with this SEO stuff but this does seem like the place to be to learn things. I spent quite a bit of time reading the blogs and found them very helpful - including everyone's comments. I'm not sure what to make of a couple of my campaign reports. I'm going through my campaign reports and have a few questions. I guess the easy way is to break this down. Question 1: Crawl Errors: I"m getting duplicate content/page errors for the following pages. http://www.njsigncrafters.com and http://www.njsigncrafters.com/index.php Am I losing a bit of google points because of this and do I fix it by using a redirect? Question 2: When I look at my on-page analysis I'm getting grades of A-F. I'm figuring maybe I should have some recommendations about what to do but SEOMOZ gives me a grade and then leaves it at that. Besides reviewing my on-page factors am I missing something simple that I"m supposed to click on to see recommendations? I suppose once I get used to the way things work I'll get this SEOMOZ site figured out.

SEOmoz indicating duplicate page content on one of my campaigns
Hello All, Alright, according to SEOmoz's PRO campaign manager, one of my websites is returning about 2,700 pages that supposedly have duplicate content. I checked a few of them manually and am not seeing where the issue lies. Is anyone else experiencing something similar to this and do you know if it is just a glitch with the crawl? Here are 2 of the pages it is indicating have dup page content: http://www.dieselpowerproducts.com/c-3120-1994-98-59l-12v-dodge-cummins-carbon-fiber-hoods.aspx http://www.dieselpowerproducts.com/c-90-dodge-cummins-94-02-59l-12v24v.aspx Any insight would be greatly appreciated! -Craig

Capitalisation of campaign keywords - why does this affect traffic but not rankings?
Having accidentaly entered keywords into my campaign with both upper-case initial letters ("Product Design") and lower-case initial letters ("product design") I find that the rankings are, as expected, identical. However, the traffic generated by the keywords is markedly different. Does this mean that the two versions of the keyword should be treated like totally seperate keywords in future? Indeed, should I be entering all variants of capitalisation into future keyword campaigns (such as "product Design" and "Product design") if I wish to get the full picture in future? Any answers would be welcome. David in Scotland
