What services/reports to try during my free trial period?
-
Hi all - I am just starting the 2nd month of a two month free trial.
So far I have run advanced reports snooping at the dofollow backlinks of other bloggers in my niche to get an idea of where they're getting their backlinks from.
I have also been looking at top pages of lots of blogs in my niche to get an idea of what the most popular content is.
What else should I be trying out during my free trial period?
Note, I'm not selling anything directly on the site. I'm looking to increase visitors, comments etc.

The thing that initially got me hooked to SEOmoz was the Crawl Diagnostics page. It immediately became apparent that there were a huge number of errors (duplicate titles, long URL’s etc) which while not really visible to the end user were hurting our rankings.
These errors were easy to sort out but the fact SEOMoz only recrawls every week meant we stayed well over our free month. That having been said, I’m glad we stuck around

If you are trying to increase # of visits, then use SEOmoz tools to help guide you in the right way. You don't have to do "spray and pray" marketing and hope that something sticks. The way to get more visitors to your site is to get higher rankings for the right keyword phrases.
Start building links and diversify your anchor text. This is what I would do if I were in your situation. Use OSE (Open Site Explorer) and check out were your competitors are getting links from. Just study your competitors for a couple hours. Find out what the websites that are linking to them and what anchor text is pointing to certain pages. Look for opportunities to make some guest blog posts.
Use Followerwonk to build relationships with bloggers. It's included with your SEOMOZ subscription. Here is a White Board Friday on how to use followerwonk.

Analytics / Funnel benefits to account creation at end of steps?
I'm working with a client that has a number of paths for users to take (demand vs. supply, a lot of variables, etc). All involve new URLs and are perfect for destination-based goals and thus the creation of funnels; however, right now most are irrelevant due to some issues involving redirects, changed paths, etc. In the process of trying to make sense of them, I discovered that the site forces you to make an account before proceeding through the steps in the funnel. Are there any resources that might indicate the best to approach situations like this - that is, account creation at the beginning (and as a requirement before proceeding) to creating an account at the end? I'm trying to make sense of all their potential paths, but it's impossible without making countless accounts. Thanks.

How can I distinguish new visitors from existing (customers) in Google Analytics to attain an avg # of new visitor traffic per day/week?
i do marketing for a business software site where we have hundreds of clients and each account has on avg 100 users. I am having a very challenging time to attempting to figure out the real number of unique traffic that our site receives. **(what's creating the issue is that we have thousands of user accounts where our users log-in via our site to access our app/platform). Would love help with this! Christian

Referrals - How is it possible I have 5 new users and 100 sessions over a 2 week period?
I have a referral from an email (2), android search(1) and another website(2) but my sessions is 100 over a two week period? I have NO returning visitors (still session data though?) Seems unlikely that just these 5 users have generated 100 sessions!! Any ideas?

No Data in Custom Report set to 'Hit' Scope
Hi Guys, Been having a problem recently with a custom report I have set up... I want to find out number of sessions, bounce rate, session duration etc for different dimensions on my site - store area, store name, product type etc but I cannot seem to get the data to filter through to the report I have set up when 'Session' scope is selected. If I set it to 'hit' then I do get the data but this will only record the first instance of a dimension being triggered (from what I can gather) rather than all dimensions that might be triggered during a complete session. Has anyone experienced similar problems? Thanks, Dan

Number of clicks / organic traffic - different data in Google Analytics and Webmaster Tools
Hi. I have a little problem. When I open Google Webmaster Tools I see 3000 clicks (in Traffic - Search queries - Clicks). But when I open Google Analytics I see much more visits from search engine (Google) - it´s 4-5 times more! It´s a huge difference, don´t you think? Do you know, where is the problem? What causes this diffence? thanks a lot

Google Analytics Content Experiments don't deliver 50/50?
Our A/B test is actually delivering at about a 70/30 page view rate. 70% in favor of the original version and only 30% of the new. We are sending 100% of our traffic to this homepage test. Has anyone else experienced this? There seems to be a lot of folks experiencing this.....anyone know why?

Gah, unfairly hit by massive google penalty :/
Hi Guys, We're the folk behind http://wpmu.org and have just been hit by a massive fall in google referrals, see attached 😕 There's no reason in webmaster tools for this, were not engaging in any spammy or dodgy practices and are a massively established and well staffed news *& tutorial site for WordPress (one of the biggest, in fact!) We've upgraded WP, and requested a referral, but without actually knowing what's going on it's extremely hard to figure out what to do 😕 Maybe we're a wrong hit regarding this: http://www.webmonkey.com/2012/04/googles-new-search-algorithm-to-crack-down-on-black-hat-webspam/ ? At the moment pretty much the only thing I can think of is one of our authors being dodgy, but I don't think they would be, and I don't know how to go about finding out. Anyway, if you guys could take a look and let us know anything you think might be up, and share any advice that'd be super super appreciated! Cheers, James Screen-Shot-2012-04-27-at-8.39.32-AM.png

Nofollow page is being reported as a landing page for organic search in Google Analytics
One of my client's websites includes a series of pages for an enrollment process. All of these pages are blocked by robots.txt. In Google Analytics these pages are showing data as landing pages for organic search traffic, and have been for quite some time. There was recently a surge of organic search traffic landing on one of these pages, coming from multiple search engines. The pages appear to be blocked and I'm not finding any of them in the search results for the keywords that are being reported in GA or by searching for the url. Does anyone have any insights into why this might be happening?
