Corporate blog
-
We are starting a corporate blog and were discussing the best place to put it in terms of the URL. Would http://blog.companyabc.com be OK, or is another structure better? Like http://www.companyabc.com/blogtitle/?
-
Ok thanks. I'm going to do some research into this anyway - I'll make a post if I find anything that may be of interest.
-
He's probably got it elsewhere too but you'll have to sign up to Market Motive to see the vid I saw it on, it's part of their SEO course.
-
Agreed.
-
I had heard something about that as well, but I still think .com/blog reads better/looks cleaner than the blog.abccompany.com
Of course that is pure personal preference
-
Interesting stuff from Steve about this changing. Do you have a link to a source confirming this?
-
I am betting ALL of my money on a folder.
-
Yeah it was that way... not anymore though. I watched a seminar vid by Todd Malicoat who explained that they're now seen as basically the same thing.
-
Interesting. I've always thought that folders were much more beneficial than subdomains. I didn't think that links to subdomains passed juice to the main domain.
Am I wrong?
-
That's changed now, at least that's what was said in a seminar I watched the other day.
-
It really doesn't make much difference anymore, in terms of SEO they're seen a pretty much the same either way.
*Edit: That's a fairly recent development though.
-
http://www.companyabc.com/blogtitle is definitely the way to go.
"Some subdomains (http://blog.companyabc.com) GET NO BENEFIT from the root domain they're on."
but...
"Subfolders( http://www.companyabc.com/blogtitle ) DO appear to receive all the benefits of the subdomain they're on and content/pages behave remarkably similarly no matter what subfolder under a given subdomain they're put in."

Internal blog with history and some SEO value versus new external blogs with specialized content?
We operate a blog inside a folder on our site and considering the launch of 4 highly focused blogs with specialized content which are now categories on the internal blog. Wondering if there is more value in using the external new blogs or just keep growing the internal blog content. Does fact that the internal blog is buried amongst millions of pages have any impact if we want the content indexed and value given to the links from the blog content to our main site pages.

Blog.website.com or website.com/blog
Hello, I have a question, in some moz guidelines you can read website.com/blog is better/more recommended than blog.website.com. But when you look at the domain authority you see no difference. blog.website.com gets exact the same domain authority as website.com. So can somebody explain why website.com/blog is really better than blog.website.com? Or is there no difference? Thank you verry much

What is your take on using Google images for blogs
In your opinion, do you think it is okay to use Google images for your blog posts as long as it credits or includes a link to the site in which you located it? We tried looking at stock art for some license-free photos and had no luck in coming up with good pictures. What rules or guidelines do you follow when looking for pictures for your customers blog (or your own)? A lot of our posts have to do with "what to do in this city" or "Where to go in this city". Do you think it's okay to use Google images for these types of posts?

I started a Wordpress blog, google indexed it...
How long before I can see those links show up in SEO Moz for my website? What elements is SEO Moz looking for before they add the wordpress site to my linking domains report? Regards, Jeff

Can I delete an old blog post and be ok?
I wrote some blog posts on my wordpress blog a few years ago that I no longer want on my site. I have them "no index" and "no follow" but everytime I run a report on my site they still seem to pop up. If I just delete the posts will it result in a broken link for my site? Or is there another way I can go about it? Thanks guys

Sourcing content and images for Office Interior Design Blog
Im currently building a blog on Wordpress, and I will be blogging about Office Interior Designs. When I look at my competition they have some great blog posts about office interior designs and I have no idea about how they get: a) The ideas to blog about, how do they find out about these office interior designs b) how they get the content for them, how do they know what to write about each one, do they need permission etc, c) if i am interested in doing a blog on the same office interior design as them, how can I get information )and permission from the company that done the office interior design) on the office interior design so i can blog about it and also how do i get the images and stuff. an example is http://www.officedesignblog.com/invensys-rail-office-concept/726/ I would like to cover this aswell, as i think my future readers would like to know about this. how did they get the images, and the information about the project so they could write a blog post about it? And how would I go about doing the same thing?
